Thats funny. My cousin is married to japanese colombian dude from palmira. I met him and he told me his parents migrated to colombia along with a bunch of japanese families . My friend feom my neighhborhood in cali last name is Mustafa her paternal grandparents are from Palestine
Yup. From my mother's side I have 2 basque surnames, and they aren't even from the ones you listed. Also from my father's side and he is black. So you get the idea. There are a lot of them.
Ends of XIX....and during big part of XX century they used turkish passport fopr that reason people refred them in the coast "turcos" but actually they were plaestines, libaneses and sirians...
Yes but I've lived in the states pretty much all my life and my Colombian 'parce' radar would be going nuts if I were to see you walking down a street.
The states are ignorance dude; I am pretty sure everyone here can vouch for how we're confused for Mexicans (a VERY common issue for most latino hispanics). They also view hispanic/latino as a race. And I will always address a fellow Colombian Parce~...expect for my chief; I have to address him properly as chief. ^^; But we still talk football everyday.
Well, the ignorance is making assumptions instead of asking but equally so it's not such a far reach when you consider almost 2 out of 3 latinos in this country are Mexican, so the likelihood that you're speaking with someone of Mexican decent is very likely, specially in densely populated demos where latinos reside. Sort of like many Colombians calling every Asian, 'chino', regardless of their heritage, so we have some ignorant levels of stupidness as well.
I never use "chino". Honestly, I do hear latinos use that phrase and it makes me chuckle. I am happy that have been raised in an environment of diversity.
Because I am Colombian and white. Like how there's black colombians....am I wrong? White americans, black americans, etc.
I met Froboy. He's as latino as they come. Curly black hair and all. No white in him except his teeth, and that's when he brushes them
My whole family calls me chino. Always took as a term of endearment. I mean there are Gordos in the family too though...
Another Basque family name with lots of Colombian incidence is Ochoa. Heck, Eder is a Basque name (means beautiful).
