Of course he did. The man is nothing but a soulless automaton, an animated calculator. He isnt fit to lick his daddys feet. F*ck him.
And I do to. All this is conjecture from the post miki dropped that negotiations have started to break down again. Columbus "check out this sweetheart investment deal we have come up with." MLS "Looks a little lite; I think we will need 10-20 million more on the table before we can start talking." ... Columbus "Oh hey Marky Mark, you want in on this?"
He also wants me to explain tom you that by definition free VPNs dont pay what good security costs. If they did, they couldn't afford to offer their services for free. As a result, even if they're actually blocking spyware and advertising, the government can stroll past them laughing at their pathetic attempts at security. And this from a guy who is a vegan leftist nutjob with a Bernie poster in the window of his car. I am not making that up. He also says that you sound "naive" He'll be with me at MAPFRE on 9/1 if you want to try and convince him otherwise. I'll buy the beer. Worth it for the entertainment. Except that as a card carrying millennial, he's never wrong.
Of course the negotiations are getting rough. There is now a hearing date on the motion to dismiss and it's less than three weeks away. MLS had a good day yesterday in Austin. The league feels empowered and I cannot see them agreeing to anything before September 4. Judge Brown should simply take the motion to dismiss under advisement indefinitely and tell the parties to keep talking. Judges do the same with summary judgment motions all the time. Nothing like uncertainty to force a deal. Meanwhile, there are things we fans can be doing to significantly turn up the heat on MLS. without resorting to violence or unseemly behavior like harassing Precourt's wife.
Coming at it from OSU's Perspective; The two arenas deal was a cluster. Original plan was for 1 Arena to be jointed owned by the City and University. The city couldn't get their ducks in a row, OSU built theirs. The city blocked OSU's first plan saying it have to be 500 seats short of being able to hold NCAA tournament games. For Business purposes Columbus has 2 identical arenas, with the university one being a couple hundred seats short to hold the largest university functions. One of the behind the scenes handshakes was OSU would do University events and city would do community events. I was so annoyed with the whole ordeal, seems like both parties reneged on original intent. http://www.dispatch.com/content/sto.../arena_anniv.ART_ART_11-17-08_A1_KOBTM3E.html
So I have the misfortune of being busy at work today and first thing I see is that we are on 1002. 10 pages in an afternoon can only mean one thing.... @GoCrew1996 posting. Then it takes me a good part of a half hour to scroll through all of the irrelevant drivel the rest of you post to get to @GoCrew1996 posting. Then I tell myself that there probably are more @GoCrew1996 posts so I keep reading through the irrelevant drivel and find I was wrong. Still, it was an aaa kind of afternoon.
I asked Miki about that a while back, and feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but I thought he said it wasn't based on inside information, just on how quickly things are progressing on the litigation front. The report given to the judge was sealed so we didnt get any insight there so my understanding of what was said was more around on the MtD continuing and how everyone was responding. Which might be different than actual business negotiations.
I'm going to really struggle with not saying something snarky and obnoxious, but you do know this creaky old forum still has a search function, right?
Beats shit out of me. I never use it. Everybody knows about me and resesrch; if memory fails, I'll admit I f*cked up and move on. But at the same time, in his situation id sure give it a shot before I blew a half hour scrolling.
I think he greatly misunderstands what he thinks I understand. (i.e. he's right, mostly, on this narrow point, which is entirely beside the broader point) Rather than argue by proxy through you, maybe he could look at ProtonVPN. Sure, their very secure options cost, but their free options are good enough for security experts to recommend them pretty regularly. Maybe they're older security experts, and thus are not to be trusted, but these people do exist. This can certainly be true. This still is entirely beside the point. Just because the government can doesn't mean it's without value to protect yourself from other vectors. The Millenial tendency to acquiesce because one avenue is open (which there always will be MORE than one) is foolhardy and, frankly, stupid. It's a "well, it's imperfect, so there's no point" argument, and it's really dumb. Furthermore, calling those who do understand the relative risks and vulnerabilities and yet still take some measures "naive" is pretty ********ing insulting. Berniebots are allowed to be skeptical of the government, too. It's weird, but whatevs. Tell him he can suck on my giant black bean burger. 1. I doubt it would be all that productive aside from the beer - which, to be fair, is a very strong argument. 2. I'm terrible "on my feet" vs. in a written medium (comes with being an old guy who's never been all that confident socially, i.e. an old timey engineer who re-evaluates his positions in the face of differing data and often "goes along to get along"). Doesn't bode well for a contest vs. a confident, outspoken (I'm sure it runs in the family) Millenial. 3. There's very little chance I'll be at a game, probably ever again, given recent events for various reasons. 4. Nonetheless, I appreciate the proposition, Big Guy.
