American midfielder Daniel Stevens has joined PS Kemi Kings of the Finnish Ykkönen (2nd tier). He last played with Buffalo of the NPSL. http://yanks-abroad.com/get.php?mode=blog&entry=176 Coached at Niagara: http://www.purpleeagles.com/sports/msoccer/coach/bio.asp?COACH_ID=137 Edit: I had to throw this thread together quickly on the way to a meeting. So I have a little more to add. This article (in Finnish) talks about Stevens being a good attacking player who led FC Buffalo in scoring predominantly as a midfielder and that he was wanted by Nybergsund; however, they were/are in serious financial difficulties and couldn't afford him.
As for a little update on Stevens, he played 90 minutes for Kemi Kings today in a 3-1 loss to Viikingit. Looks like he has scored two goals this season so far in nine appearances. Kemi Kings sit in 9th place out of 13 teams after 10-11 games for most teams.
He's not currently listed on their 2012 roster. However, there are only 14 players on it at the moment, so I assume they still have some signings to make.
He's back in the states playing for the Syracuse Silver Knights in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). The season ends in March unless a team makes the playoffs so schedule wise I think he could return to Finland before the league starts. http://syracusesilverknights.com/roster.cfm?player=17
Stevens has returned to Kemi Kings after spending the off season playing in the Major Indoor Soccer League http://www.kemi.fi/pskemi/
He scored the winning goal today in a 1-0 victory. All 3 Americans at the club have now scored a goal.
Turns out Stevens was still a YA in 2013, with a Finnish club called BK-46. # 6 Daniel Stevens http://www.bk46.fi/default.asp?sivu=4&alasivu=12&kieli=752
It appears he is playing at FC Viikingit in the 2nd division. http://www.fcviikingit.fi/player/daniel-stevens/
Still out there grinding in the Finnish second division at age 32. He finished the year with six starts and twelve sub appearances. GrIFK were relegated to the Kakkonen.
Still playing, albeit sparingly, Daniel off the bench today for GrIFK as they hosted Kiffen in Finland's Kakkonen (Group B) Final: 0 - 0 Note: GrIFK lead the league, and remain unbeaten despite this disappointing home result
Hmmm.....Daniel has moved from GrIFK to Kiffen, in Finland's Kakkonen B Happened Aug 15th - maybe he will get a little more time on the pitch!!
Daniel off the bench at 64th minute - SCORED!!! (2nd and winning goal) at 68th minute - his team Kiffen wins 1 - 4 at Espoo in Finland's Kakkonen Group B
