I put a lot of value on this seasons results. I don't think Pulisic is going to add much this season, not on a consistent basis. If he was sold, the money could be used to replace him with a better player currently and the rest could be put towards a striker.

German clubs need to stop this false bravado and realise there is a time to sell players. There's nothing wrong with selling non key players to improve the squad.Sancho and Pulisic are not good enough to be our starting wide men especially when there is a lack of creativity from the rest of the team.

Rumours about Sampdoria having interest in Rode with him rather tending to stay in Dortmund. We lost Castro but added Delaney and Witsel. Not sure where he sees his playing time is coming from unless he's content with getting marginally more minutes than his last completely lost year due to injuries.

If he cared about his career he would leave. He is clearly not wanted. Sadly none of our players shone at the world cup so no price bump. At least: Sahin and Kagawa will be off the wage budget come next summer.

We missed out on Sane, Rudiger, Sule and Goretzka. We need to everything to sign the few world class talents still in Germany: Brandt, Havertz and Werner.

Werner is reportedly in talks to extend his contract soon with an expected wage around 6 million. We could easily pay him more but I see no chance to get him. I hope that the FO at least tried to talk with him about a potential move next summer which could have explained their inaction regarding the striker position. As for the Leverkusen players, it feels like we are getting less attractive for these kind of players in the sense as we are not seen as that big of an upgrade to teams like Leverkusen. Financially yes, but not when the complete product is judged.

    Has Sancho been poor?

He probably will, because the board are not doing everything possible to sign him. He has said he wants to work with Nagelsman. Now is the perfect time to go for him, because his poor world cup has put off the big teams.

The same for Brandt, he is a quality player and we can buy him without much competition. Bayern have said they may not buy a winger and he is off the radar of the big English clubs, who are looking at Pulisic. He is 22 now, the age where he is ready to make a real difference.

Take the risk. There comes a point in time where to grow any business you need to take a gamble. The board paralysed by the previous financial mess are afraid to do that. Grab those players and you guarantee top 4 and make yourself a top 8 club. It means less spending in the future.

Instead they will not take the risk have key players leave next summer and then take another step back. If you show no ambition you end up going backwards.

An ambitious board would have sold Pulisic to the English clubs and used the money to fund Brandt and Werner. The rest of the dead wood in the squad could be sold to try and make some money back.

It's a dream and the board will let the opportunity slip them by. I said in 2016 we had a squad which was one of the best in the world. Now Dembele is winning league titles in Spain, Gundogan winning league titles in England, and Hummels winning league titles at Bayern.

    -----Burki-----
    Hakimi---Akanji--Diallo--Raphael
    -----------Weigl------------------
    -----Witsel(Dahoud)----Gotze(Delaney)
    Brandt-------------------------------------------Reus
    -------------------Werner----------------

That first 11 competes for the title and can go as far as the CL semi finals. The current one will be lucky to finish in the top 2 and would go out of the group.

He hasn't been very good this preseason, but overall he had a great season last year especially for an 18 year old. The problem is he is just that an 18 year old. Not even Ronaldo and Messi were good enough to carry their respective teams at that age. He is an excellent prospect, but a top team can't go into the season relying on an 18 year old.

U ppl need to stop fantasizing, with watzke in charge well continue down this road. It pains me to admit it but we a just another mediocre club. We but a money factory, selling our best players and replacing them with 5 mil mediocre players or 30 mil risk signing that every1 but watzke sees its not gonna work out. With a man in charge with no ambition to take the club to next level, we might as well prepare ourselves for very frustrating few years ahead. Our transfer window this summer was sh*t to say the least, we gonna get owned by bayern on all fronts again, maybe get a sniff at the cup, but the league well be again behind by 15+ points.this is the 2nd saddest/frustrating period for me in 20 years of following dortmund now. I mean we have the money, still round 150 mil, we have no depts, no reconstructions or any major plans, so why dafuq r we holding on to it, where is it? The amount of quality players that we we could get if only watzke grew a pair is staggering, but no, wolfs and delaneys r sure to carry us to great hights....

Even worse is the local fanbase who genuinely think we have a competitive squad.

BVB FNM you talk like you live near them. Is that the case?

I"m English but I'm not a Dortmund fan per se, I just have a soft spot for them because I regard Bayern as the most evil club on the planet and Dortmund have been their most regular victims and are their most plausible contenders. :)

I am English, but I have had a soft spot for Dortmund ever since they knocked United out of the CL in 97. In the early 00s I loved Rosicky and followed them a lot. My German girlfriend was a big fan along with her family a little later and have loved them through the bad times.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Balotelli is the answer to all the questions. Give him a one or two year contract and sign him now.

Balotelli would fit the bill, I don't know why people still have an aversion to him ... and he has worked with Favre.
At this point, the squad is not too far away from being competitive ... Rode and Sahin need to be moved on ... Issac sent on loan for a year with a sink or swim attitude ... and Marius Wolf seems like quite a pointless signing to be honest, I still can't make heads or tails of this signing ...

I wish I did live in Dortmund. No I don't, but I frecuently interact with them on social media and it's infuriating to see them believing that we're going to challenge on all fronts with all the deadweight we signed, hailing each and every single one of them like we signed world class talent, and a few months ago they were celebrating Watzke's contract extension, which pretty much tells you all you need to know about them.

If there is one guy at Dortmund who should know what it's like to work with Balotteli and whether he could help us, it's Favre. If he was persuaded that Balotelli is the solution, I think we'd heard about that by now.

Bingo!! Knowing about in how high of a regard Favre is being held in the eyes of Watzke/Zorc then a Balotelli transfer would have happened a long time ago if Favre put in a request for him especially since he would come in cheaply based on his contract situation. Only because he's been able to rein him in a work with him at Nice doesn't mean he would want to do it again here.

I know this kid is young, but rumors are he is very talented and possiboy would have forced his way on to the national team side very soon.

Hes number 19 on this list too.

I actually love this move as we have quite a few talented americans on the team now.

We had Will Pulisic on the team as a goalie, he is now at Duke in college and is a top flight NCAA goalkeeper.. he is also on the USA under 20 team as the goalkeeper.. does that mean that we retain his rights or is he essentially a free signing since he is in college...Euro amateur status is a lot different i presume and there are not a lot of players that play sports in high school or college i understand.

Next rumor: We are supposedly interested in a loan for Barcelona's Alcacer to finally fill the striker position. If it's a loan, I hope it is with a reasonable buy option. His current release clause of 100 million has to be nonsense.

Not a fan of such deals - if he plays bad, it is a bust, if he performs well Barca will no doubt want to keep him and we are back to square one come next summer. Can't see him picking us, over Barca. Besides - the last player we got from Barca didn't set the world alight in any way...

And then this morning's rumors say Alcacer is off and Origi is the new target. I would love to see the full story of exactly how each rumor gets started.

I don't like this Alcácer deal because he's a Spaniard and we already have too many Spaniards in the squad (Gómez). Ideally BVB should have no Spaniards at all.

I am not impressed with the Alcacer signing, it's poorly thought out. The club had the since January when Auba left to find a replacement and now they are desperately searching for rejects. Very disappointing, but at least it is only a loan.
