Does anyone know anything about the club and its squad? A quick glance at Transfermarkt suggests that they don't have any right-sided midfielders/wingers. If that's true, he's in line for a LOT of playing time.
Unpopular opinion coming through but it seems that his skill set is probably better suited as a second striker or in the middle. He's a decent athlete but we have better athletes on the flanks for the MNT.
I am so jealous of this kid. 23 years old playing for the best team in Sweden with blonde women everywhere....
Is a wide attacker/forward in a 4-3-3 a good set up for him? It seems like he's a pretty good attacker and dribbler, but perhaps not an excellent passer or crosser of the ball, which could fit well as a wide/inverted forward in a 4-3-3 as opposed to a traditional winger in a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1.
If memory serves me right, he used to come insight a lot and he would not look for the final pass when his lanes closed for him. Again, my take on the kid is pretty much outdated. I'm looking forward to seeing this new version of Gall.
What a journey for him.. how often do we see guys at 21-22 get discoruaged and give up when things haven’t gone their way? He pushed through a difficult couple of years and could very well be playing champions league soccer this season. Well done, young man.
Spot on. He was waived by the Columbus Crew, signed with a 3rd division team in Sweden and has worked his way up. It's an impressive rise, and I admire the grit and the humility to pick himself up and elevate his game.

Malmo and newly signed YA Romain Gall face Romanian champs CFR Cluj for Champions League qualifying, will face the winner of Ludogorets and Vidi FC should they advance https://t.co/7TmLT7KLcT— Yanks Abroad (@usmnt_abroad) July 23, 2018
Nice article on Gall. Gives a bit of his family background, including that he is apparently eligible for Senegal in addition to the US and France. He is developing into more of a central player, but can play most offensive positions, even wingback. https://www.fotbollskanalen.se/alls...-i-akademier-jag-behovde-gora-allt-for-min-k/

This kid is a baller, been saying it since he was at Lorient. Trust me, by mid-season (barring injury) he'll be starting consistently.
Not to be pedantic or anything, but they already are mid-season in Sweden. Each team plays 30 games in the Allsvenskan, and Malmo has already played 15. I do agree he'll be starting games soon though! Just needs some time to settle in.
Absolutely right, I forgot about the Nordic game schedule and the extended winter break they have. Thank you for the reminder
Mix played for IFK Goteborg. Malmo FF is a different team. I'm no expert on Scandinavian soccer but other thank FCK (FC Copenhagen) this is about as good as it gets in Scandinavia.

They're playing at home against IFK Norrkoping who are 3rd in the league. Big game for him to make his mark.
20 minutes in. He looks a little nervy so far. Playing off the striker almost as a #10. Malmo up 1-0 off of a penalty that Gall was not involved in. I will say, while he looks nervy he's certainly been brave. He's looking for the ball at every chance he gets.
I don’t blame him. They should’ve played him off the bench last game to get some rhythm with teammates. Thrown straight into the fire but at least he’s getting lots of minutes hopefully he does well.
