I am, thought he showed glimpses of potential last pre season aswell. I’d like to see him get out on loan in a good team like Matheus did this year

 

Yes if he wont get playing time he should be loaned.

A lot of mistakes this second half. Wendel and Misic midfield is non existent, Wendel needs to step it up especially.

 

4-1 final.

No goals in the 2nd half, although Wendel started off slow but as the half progressed he started to show more freedom and had some interesting touches and decisions. Still needs to work on the defensive aspect.

 

So we don't play any exhibition games now till Marseilles on the 28th? Seems like a long time to just scrimmage?

 

Today's training marked the return of some heavy weights. Bruno Fernandes and Bas Dost back on the pitch training, while Acuna has returned but only hit the gym. Coates is expected to return on Wednesday.

Lost today against Mafra, a second league team.

Nani played behind the striker. I'd still like to sign a proper 2nd striker and have Nani on the wings, but theres bigger holes in the squad to take care of.

We desperately need a defensive mid or two, this problem needs to be resolved asap.

Doumbia didn't play today, I wonder if he's on his way out? He probably has one of the highest wages on the squad, so I'm not too surprised, but I'd definitely take him over Castaignos and Montero.

 

Doesn't seem like Vietto will come as the Gelson deal seems to have broken down. We need to look for another option, Doumbia doesn't seem to be in the coach's plans so we should sell him and sign a proper replacement or two.

In my eyes we 2 strikers and 2 defensive midfielders for the squad to be somewhat balanced. This assuming no one else leaves except Castaignos, Montero, etc.

 

If anyone can provide updates to the game today, as I am unable to watch.

 

Sporting in a nutshell

 

1-1 in the end. Bruno Fernandes been training a week and stood out as our best player, Nani also stood out. Petrovic started at DM and is still a disaster (desperate need of a replacement)

 

Wendel did play, so did Bruno Gaspar. They were OK, nothing stood out.

 

I actually enjoyed watching Wendel. Always pushed ahead with the ball. Nice one touches. Lots of potential. Wouldn't mind seeing Battaglia, Wendel and Fernandes as our midfield.

 

Last game of the pre season vs Empoli. Trofeu Cinco Violinos at home.
