Bremen played 2 friendlies, one with the A team and another with a B team. Guess who scored the winning goal for the A team?;)

youth in the A-team friendly: M.Eggestein, J.Eggestein, Jacobsen
youth in the B-team friendly: Plogmann, Vollert, Beste, Kauper, Wagner, Mbom

    more on D.Otto
Bitter for Belfodil, advertising for Otto
In order to draw the specific conclusions for the course of a season, training camps are not really suitable in early July. That's the same with all Bundesliga clubs, that's the same with TSG Hoffenheim. It's just too early for prophecy. Nevertheless, the past week in Garmisch-Partenkirchen provided insights.

For example, that David Otto can be on the lookout as an alternative in attack. And not only because this team part of the Kraichgauer has lost most substance with Gnabry and Uth. No, you could already see why the young man met 27 times in 24 U-19 Bundesliga matches last season. When 19-year-old pairing physicality with overview and a for his power (1.85 m, 82 kg) very neat dribbling. Otto operated self-promotion in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Crowned by two fine assists in the 3-0 Test victory against Unterhaching for Nadiem Amiri, who refines this each to goals.

While a striker drew attention against the third division, the other had to watch. As so often in the Werdenfelser country. For Ishak Belfodil, the days in southern Germany were not very satisfactory. The new addition to Standard Liege, last year awarded to Werder Bremen, could hardly train. At first, the 26-year-old was plagued by a stiff neck. The tension then pulled into the abdomen, after which he had to suspend from mid-week due to abdominal muscle problems. This is not a drama, of course, if the Algerian can train again soon. But he will have to keep up to catch up both the physical substance as well as the substantive, which can often be heavy food for Neu-Hoffenheimer in view of their complexity.

Because, as Julian Nagelsmann summarizes: "We have many things that are extremely important for our game, well-trained." Pressing, Gegenpressing, just defensive work, before it goes next week to the topic "switching to ball conquest". Only one unit had been a bit sluggish, the coach crouched, but added to the fatigue of his charges. Otherwise, the 30-year-old "the pace is already very high", but without being able to compare it with the competition. What Nagelsmann regrets, because: "I would like to see how the pace was with the others." Which would certainly not be unimportant for concrete conclusions in the entire league comparison ...
    http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...-belfodil-werbung-fuer-otto.html#omsmtwkicker

Kicker also discussed the Mainz 1st keeper thing and seem to think it's for Muller!

Florian Müller The youngest in the league at the age of 20 took advantage of his chance in the second half of the season when he secured the crucial point for Mainz on his debut in Hamburg. He parried a penalty, defused two more HSV chances, received the kicker the grade 1 and was named "Man of the Day". Except for a mistake in Frankfurt, where the entire team at 0: 3 was completely beside itself, the goalkeeper made no mistake. He is probably the most complete keeper of the trio. Robin is physically a bear, Jannik a great footballer, I have my strengths, and so are my weaknesses: playing 90 minutes without being concentrated - I still have to work on that, but I think that I bring everything together well on the pitch, that speaks for me, "Müller said in a recent kicker interview.

Conclusion: Müller is considered Mainz number 1 of the future. He proved in the past season, which potential he has. If he puts full effort in preparation without taking a break, it will be difficult for coach Schwarz not to consider Müller for the starting eleven. Zentner and Huth will fight hotly for the number 2, significantly increase the competition with Müller - and in case of cases immediately available.

Bremen's coach on the youth players

"Given the team composition, that was surprisingly good," says Kohfeldt. He and manager Frank Baumann may feel confirmed by these impressions that several talents are on their way to becoming serious alternatives.

Fridolin Wagner, last winter brought by the FSV Zwickau, liked eighth with a great understanding of the game and smart passes. The 20-year-old confirmed so the good training impressions and could definitely recommend for a longer stay in the professional squad.

Also convincing: The left-back brought from Dortmund left-back Jan-Niklas Best (19), who demonstrated his tactical and footballing profound education right off the bat. With him and Thore Jacobsen (21) Werder has promising options also behind Ludwig Augustinsson and Marco Friedl. And: CM Jean-Manuel Mbom (18), too, is capable of rapid development thanks to technique, dynamism and power.

How far are these, so far almost completely hidden in the hidden, talents actually already - from Bremen's point of view, certainly one of the most positive findings of this test game Sunday. That also Johannes Eggestein (20) against Duisburg scored the golden goal, completes the overall picture. Another reason for the joy for Kohfeldt: Max Kruse, who wore the captain's armband, held 90 minutes shortly after his unspecified health problems against Duisburg. The worries about Werder's key players seem to be resolved until further notice.

It'll be interesting to see which players make an upward push to make the U21 this season.

Florian Müller would be my #1 choice at GK

For CBs Uduokhai, Torunarigha, Mühl, and Gimber could make competition for some of the more established guys. Not as likely but maybe Gül at Düsseldorf if he can work his way into being a starter or strong performer. While Tah and Kehrer should ideally begin integrating with the senior squad

If Passlack does well at Norwich maybe he can challenge Henrichs and Klostermann for a RB spot. While Klünter moves to Hertha and theres still Koch at Freiburg

I'd like to see Hertha play Mittelstädt more. Jannes Horn needs to bounce back. They're still ahead of Itter as an option at this stage though

Löwen, Serdar, Neuhaus, Barkok, Baku and Geiger look like players on the rise in midfield. Maybe Havertz will leap up to the level

Maybe Waldschmidt can finally find consistency joining a new club in Freiburg.
Mörschel could be a surprise if he does well at Holstein Kiel. His teammate Serra also in the mix. The other forwards in consideration will also be Seydel, Platte, Teuchert, Eggestein, and Knöll. Theres also Arp and Otto who could leap up too, but their youth levels could definitely still need them at their stages

I'm a proponent that young players should stick to their age groups, with maybe a few outside the bracket. This U21 is the last for the 96-97, so given that majority of the squad should be from those 2 age groups. Although last U21 had 7 96 even though it was the last of the 94-95 group. So I do expect 98s making it and some have been part of the qualifiers.

Arp who skipped the entire U18 with the 00 group should focus on returning with the 00 as they embark on U19 ECQ and U19 EC. Issue with Otto on the other hand is that the 99 have nothing but friendlies next year and depending on what happens he could end up playing a relevant role in Hoff's 1st team. Although it seems unfair to use him over the other guys you mentioned who have been involved in the qualifiers. Would say keep him,Kruger, Wintzheimer etc in the U20 together so that they can be used to each other for the 2021 U21 which is the last for the 98-99. All I hope is that he stops being ignored by the NT, has never played beyond friendlies and when he did play he was mostly put out of position like playing him on the wings.

other than Tah, Kehrer, kind of mixed on Havertz, on whether he should be in the senior team or U21. Actually all 3 can be in both seniors and U21. Although playing U21 next Summer is no different than the 2010 group playing U21 in 2009.

Muller who has a great shot at being #1 in a 1BL should start over Nubel who's Schalke's 2nd keeper. Although Nubel is currently the #1 of the U21.

other strikers that should be in consideration outside of the ones mentioned and depending on how they do. Richter, Owusu, Eckert (only if he manages to play a role in the Celta 1st team, currently in the 1st team Camp), Reese (maybe having service from Abouchabaka will help him be better.;)), Putaro, Tietz, and Duker.

Contrary to the reported interest from Roma recently, Lukas Klostermann does not want to leave RB Leipzig this summer as he sees no reason for a change

Luca Gelzleichter on the score sheet again in another Darmstadt friendly.

"One of them took his chance. Luca is very good and calm on the ball, and also has a good passing game, " praised Coach Schuster.

    more on J.Eggestein
"Meanwhile, the question is no longer whether Werder can hold the attacker. But if Eggestein, who is going into the new season with an expiring contract, still prevails in Bremen. After all: effort and progress of the U-20 national player are unmistakable.

Where, two years ago, Eggestein lacked almost every form of physicality to survive in professional football, the native Hanoverian has continued to develop athletically. In the meantime, the career in prospect should no longer fail. And not at his class anyway. The Eggestein proved again on Sunday against the test in the test against MSV Duisburg (1: 0), where he managed with a dry low shot in best clippers manner the winning goal.

However, his core competence of goal-shooting is only a partial aspect of what is required of the attacker. Because: In his parade position as a center forward Eggestein has virtually no chance, as coach Florian Kohfeldt in all openness clarifies: "If Max Kruse is in normal form, he remains in this role set. There we need not call artificial competition, which does not exist. "

    Eggestein has to dodge
Means: Eggestein has to search for possible uses on the (preferably left) wing. A job, according to Kohfeldt, "of which I said Jojo, that he should feel comfortable there". In his four short appearances (each without a kicker rating) during the past second half had Eggestein there as a "gap player" already "very well on Bundesliga level" acts, judges Kohfeldt. But the competition is still big. Eggestein fights internally against established and mostly on the wing specialized professionals such as Martin Harnik, Yuya Osako, Florian Kainz, Milot Rashica and the still injured Fin Bartels.
    http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...stein_chance-in-neuer-rolle.html#omsmtwkicker

seems headed towards the young striker has to start on the wings because there is already an established striker and too much competition. Well at least he's poised for playing time and hopefully he impresses and eventually ends back as CF. They also acknowledged something we brought up here that he lacked the physicality for CF over the years but has since improved on that.

    on Burkhardt
    Strong Jonathan Burkhardt

The coach's conclusion: "The first half I found very good from the activity we had many ball conquests, have little allowed, had a good dominance and many Umschaltmomente." The 1: 0 was an example of this. Ball conquest in the Uerdinger half, quick switch with pass on the started Giulio Donati, who crossed into the penalty area and was brought from the legs. Levin Öztunali converted the penalty due with a low shot. Shortly thereafter the 2: 0, which preceded one of many good actions of the conspicuous Jonathan Burkhardt. The 18-year-old prevailed with a lightning-fast hook and fluent movement on the right, was fouled in front of the penalty area. Alexandru Maxim brought the free-kick from 25 yards onto the goal, Pablo De Blasis hammered the keeper's shot from close range under the crossbar.

"We scored two goals and could have made the third by Johnny Burkhardt with the big chance before the break," said Schwarz. Burkhardt drew on a De Blasis pass in the penalty area against two defenders, was free, but narrowly missed the goal. The youngster was clearly the most prominent 05-attacker. "Johnny is doing very well," Schwarz praised. "He is taking a really good development, bringing in new stimuli that he does well, he has extraordinary moves to hook up in the box, and I think he's extremely hard-working, that's the things we do But we will not put a backpack on him and say he has to be there then and then, and he should go forward step by step and be patient. here's why we failed, post from the previous page.

"still find it hilarious though, that the German NT U19 outside of an incompetent coach who used an experimental lineup , resting key players and including playing guys out of position during 1 Elite Round U19 EC Qualifier game where we lost, is why we aren't in the U19 EC that starts on Monday nor will we be at the U20 WC next year. What's worse is that Schonweitz still has his job/ Why wasn't he fired? More awkward is when one sees his name as being mentioned in the speculation pieces about who could replace Low, lol.

outside of that 1 game, when the coach played a logical lineup, we dominated and trashed the opponents including trashing the Dutch U19 4-1."

blame it all on yet another terrible German youth coach. Seems like Germany takes in coaches that no one wants and who would struggle to find a job.

Wtf is up with the DFB? They are somehow managing to ******** up what should be one of the strongest and most dominant national set-ups in the world. So much talent and large finances with high quality facilities to develop them, but results and performances getting worse at nearly every level. Totally unacceptable.

what's worse is how they are squandering talent on all the levels including Senior NT, in the last years so many NT youth levels were ignoring good players for lesser players. And too many were playing false 9 with a bunch of kids, lmao. False 9 works better with experienced players not kids. As well as playing the wrong way tactically.

seems like we were imitating the senior NT with a Gotze up top instead of a CF.

the U17 coach always played with a false 9 and the team struggled massively to score on top of not being able to get the best out of anyone. In 1 game in the U17 EC, the team in attack looked so much better when he actually subbed in a CF. Didn't seem like he trusted CFs.

    U17 Prus
    U19 Schonweitz
    Senior Low

should all have been fired but instead all 3 are still in the dfb.

Keanan Bennetts who isn't with the English U19 at the EC and is with the Gladbach 1st team in preseason instead said this recently:

Borussia Monchengladbach signing Keanan Bennetts admits an international future with England is no guarantee.

The 19 year-old has signed for Gladbach from Tottenham this summer.

And Bennetts admits he qualifies for three countries - England, Germany and Nigeria. He revealed to BILD: "My mother is from Hamburg, my dad from Nigeria. But I grew up in London.

"As a young child, I always spoke German with my mother. At the World Cup, I kept my fingers crossed for all three teams.

"If the question should be asked for which country I should play at the seniors level, I really have to think."
    http://www.tribalfootball.com/artic...e-england-commitment-why-i-quit-spurs-4238688

On why he moved to 1BL
He is half German and speaks the language already and believes he could progress to the first team quicker than had he waited around at Spurs.

Bennetts says he is 'all in' on the move to Germany and is not just simply planning to hop back to England when the chance comes.

He said: "For English footballers, the goal is mostly the Premier League. But I just wanted to become a professional. Sometimes the ways change. And if there is a new possibility, you have to seize it. Since I'm half German, the Bundesliga was always an option for me. I do not see that as a detour.

"In England it's harder for young players to make the breakthrough."

"Young forward Florian Krüger (19) has suffered a syndesmosis band injury in China and will be out of action for the time being."

this seems to be the reason why he was absent for the 2nd game in China.:cautious:

even more reason as to why I never liked that Schalke didn't seem sure on who to promote to the 1st team, who to loan, who can leave permanently (with a possibility of buyback) or Schalke II. Now Kruger is in a tough spot, in terms of what's next for him. I seriously hope that Schalke's indecision , him missing majority of the China tour on injury and his injury don't end up relegating him to Schalke II.

Krüger should still be looking towards leaving Schalke in the next available window. Being behind around 5 or 6 other forwards is not a beneficial scenario to be in. The club is in a conflict on how to get rid of Di Santo, but everyone else like Uth, Burgstaller, Embolo, Teuchert and Skrzybski are either a recent addition or not forecasted to be leaving anytime soon. In an ideal case, Krüger needs at least 2 seasons in the 2BL for steady match practice.

from what I can tell there are no openings outside of Union Berlin and Bochum and that seems to be it. Every other club already has enough strikers. And Union are already trialling a Schalke striker in Wright.

the more Kruger/Schalke delay the more they could end up wasting a chance at Bochum, who could end up getting someone else. It's why Schalke delaying what to do with all the 99s until now, getting closer to August, could be more hurtful than not.

don't think anyone here wants to see Kruger in OL or 3rd Liga.

I think Kruse is always the first choice striker. Will be the same case in the next 2 years or so

MAx Kruse is always a good striker and more experienced and established. At JUST 30, he still have another 2-3 years in his hand.

Its not easy for other strikers. Even Jojo is used as a primary backup, he can only get 10-15 starts a season, tops. But i don think thats enough

If they are planning to play him at the wing, Johannes Eggestein shouldnt renew his contract and leave for some clubs like Hannover, Dortmund or Nurnberg.

he's been at Schalke since 2015, why wouldn't he be adapted to the club's philosophy?

How is playing in the 5th division good for his dev? Most players avoid the 5th and 6th division, closer to amateurs.

Schalke management have also recently said that the level between 5th and 1BL is too big of a jump. Do you recall any Schalke II player being given playing time last season in Schalke 1st team? I can't.

Played 72 minutes and assisted the only Norwich goal as they lost 2-1.

Bayern II win another game this time 2-0, and already at 6 pts. It's not even the full team as some are injured.

in July 2017, 00-Evina started playing Bayen II.
then makes his pro debut in 2018 for the Bayern 1st team

in July 2018, 01-OBM started to play for Bayern II, and made his debut today. According to the match report, seems like Bayern got better once OBM went in.

involved in the 2nd goal as he came off the bench.

will he make his pro debut in 2019 for the Bayern 1st team? His contract doesn't activate until his 18th birthday in Feb 2019.

Bild are reporting that Selke could be out until Nov. Last season he was out until mid-Oct, really does suck.

Hertha don't seem intent on buying anyone, which means that Kiprit could end up getting chances/integrated earlier than expected.
