Where are the "experts" now that said Group A was the weakest group?
We'll see you again in the final, kamerads! :)

I know, somehow, Trump is getting blamed for this one...

    24 shots, 9 on goal.

That's nothing? They were working to create chance after chance.

The Spanish federation deserves the criticism for firing Lopetegui.

they had a little help. That could have been a penalty at the end, and I'm positive that Akinfeev was off his line for that last penalty. But both calls would have been very harsh, they had a few decisions go their way but it's not exactly South Korea 2002.

It was the weakest group, and Russia is the weakest QFist ever. That's just the facts.

In 120 minutes of match, yes, that is nothing.

All would be first time winners except England. In addition, the Japan - Belgium winner will be two matches away from being first time winners, and Mexico as well if they manage to get past Brazil.

Spain finished the tournament with only one victory, against minnow Iran. What an embarrassment. Group A was stronger than B.

Yeah I know, I'm just saying that at the beginning of the tournament, no one had either of those sides as favorites to win.

England are the only somewhat big fish left on this end of the knockout side...

I dont know why you are so pissed off.
It is not likely this spanish team played an awesome match. It is also nice to have some surprises in a worldcup, this is what makes it fun afterall.

Colombia went to the Quarters in 2014 and has a good experienced core from that team.
England went belly up in the Group stage 2014 and have a bunch of youngsters making their World Cup debuts.

    Who is the big fish?

Watching the game, I am surprised that Pique didn't get a red card for the penalty....he blatantly held his hand up really high to possibly block the ball...

How about criticizing De Gea? Two penalties went right down the middle and still beat him. And of course that mess up vs. Portugal.

What happens at Club teams has nothing to do with The World Cup. Just ask Spain today.

Croatia will definitely go through. They also have the physicality to deal with Russia lol so their bus parking tactic will be nullified anyways. Anyways, this match is one of the most boring thing I’ve watched so far this WC.

Well for me, Spain need to change their style. Tiki-Taka just isn't as effective as it was pre-2012. Team's have adapted and can contain that possession style of play with relative comfort.

Rodrigo epitomises the new direction Spain should take. Attacking play, direct, with raw speed and flair, running at teams and causing chaos for opposing defenders.
They have the talent pool to identify players with this style.

If I was looking at an attacking style team for Spain this is how I would go. 4-3-3

DEF Bellerin - Nacho - Azpelicueta - Alba

    MID Saul/Rodri - Isco - Koke/Thiago

ATT Rodrigo - Costa - Asensio

The days of the Barca/Real contingent bossing the NT are over, fresh selections should be made with the exception of some.

And Spain(team with multiple CL winners) lost against Russia so that’s irrelevant. England NT was always very overrated and I hope they don’t qualify.

At least one finalist will be either a brand new team (Russia, Croatia, Denmark, Colombia, Switzerland) or an old glory (Sweden runner-up in 1958, England winner in 1966).

I see Croatia, Colombia and England as the favourites for the spot.
