FYI, I am not aware of any RSL players away for World Cup duty, so they should have their full squad available.

Also of interest - RSL have EIGHT homegrown players on their senior roster. Yet another indication of how relatively inept the Earthquakes have been in this respect.

    We are 2w - 4d - 9L.

What difference does it make if we win? If this could be the start of an epic winning streak, then sure, it would help, but who thinks that we have an epic winning streak in us? We're done for the season. It's over.

Epic screw up by Fioranelli, ably assisted by Stahre. I still think that Jesse can help pull us out of the pit of despair, but Stahre has to go.

And I fully expect us to get whipped. They are going to beat us like a rented mule.

    Go Quakes!!
    Fire Stahre!!

No news from Quakedom, so I suspect we get the Same old Stahre stuff as the previous 15 games. So another loss, almost guaranteed.

Will the new CB be available to play this Sat? Will he be paired with Ockford or Quintana?

Flo pairing up with Fatai/Yueil/TT/Vako as CMs?

I am actually more interested to see if we can leave Magnus out of the starting XI. He is probably the player most ineffective and frustrating to see.

My issues are less with the individual players and more with the failure to play like a cohesive team. We don't move to open space (as has been discussed a zillion times), if a player makes a defensive mistake, the other defenders rarely manage to cover, we do not play a sophisticated style. As a result, we lose a lot.

I like Fatai at the d-mid spot. No, he's not perfect, but give him some games there, see how he does. I expect that he will improve.

I want TT and Flo in central mid too, which means that I want five middies, thus I want three defenders. It's not likely to happen, because Stahre is too moribund in his thinking.

So I expect us to get slagged by RSL and to look bad along the way.

    Woe is us!

    Go Quakes!!
    Fire Stahre!!

Yep, and he has played almost every minute of every game, and he has the benefit of playing on Lima's side to make him look less bad.

    No, he still looks awful.

"Less bad" does not mean that he can't be awful - it's a delta, not a placement measure. If he's awful it would just mean he'd be even more awful if he wasn't paired with Lima.

I wanted to see if the Quakes were hosting a viewing party for this game anywhere, so I checked the website. On the front page there is no indication that the team is even playing a game tomorrow.

At this rate, in a few years, there won't be a website.....or a team.

They are laser focused on the Stanford game. They wouldn't want anyone to watch the RSL game and then decide not to go to el clasico.

They are too busy hosting world cup match viewing parties, which admittedly, have absolutely put actual quakrs games to shame in terms of the amount of fun to be had. Smart move by the FO to advertise the Quakes as little as possible during the World Cup.

I mean, unless Fisher somehow loses 4 billion dollars over the course of 12 months, the team isn't going anywhere. He could run the team with practically no revenue until he dies. And MLs revenue sharing means he's operating at a profit, almost gauranteed.

    This is the correct answer.

The staffer who organizes Quakes away game viewing parties is the same staffer who is organizing the Avaya World Cup viewings every day over the past ten days. She's at the stadium by at least 3 a.m. most days (and once at 1 a.m.). And the logistics of today's Avaya event, with six thousand plus fans for the Mexico match, are tremendous. There's just no band-with for an RSL viewing party today.

I discussed with this staffer the subject of Quakes viewing parties, generally, and urged that the Quakes next year work to have viewing parties (1) for every away game; and (2) in multiple places, including outside the San Jose city limits -- for example, in San Francisco, the East Bay, and suburban San Jose. I stressed that the viewing parties won't hit their stride unless fans can depend on the fact of a viewing party for every away game, and that the party is conveniently located. I mentioned that the Quakes need to develop some consistent partner-pubs and may even want to deputize fan volunteers to help run the parties. I mentioned, this is how "big clubs" do it. She was very open to the idea for next year. We'll see if there is follow-through.

For those who will retort that the Quakes should have prioritized a viewing party for the RSL game instead of the World Cup, the Avaya World Cup viewing parties are a once-every-four-years helpful marketing tool for the Quakes, because their RSVP system captures data on lots of soccer fans, many of whom have never been to Avaya or seen the Quakes before. And there are a fair number of fans attending the World Cup viewings in Quakes gear.

I can live without a viewing party today. What's unacceptable is that there is a game 100 minutes from now and there's nothing on the front page that says that it's happening other than the Twitter feed in a corner of the page, which currently shows a photo of RSL's stadium, which I can identify, but people in general may not.

It the website for a sports team. The sports team plays games. The website should have clear and easy to find info about the games, whether they are home or away.

Usual suspects being trotted out with the exception of Partida again at Left back (since he has served his red card suspension. Jungwirth back in CM with Yueill. Nothing else new, and yes, Ericsson in the lineup (probably for all 90 minutes) (and no Qiborg not even in the 18)
