Lol. Indeed, but I can't have decent futebol conversation with the wife (she is either everything is bad or everything is wonderful when it comes to Brasil) or closest friends (most of whom have come to soccer later in life). So I come here for the fix!

Plus, its like revisiting old friends. Hope all is well CB

Had he chosen to play for Spain he'd be a world cup winner and the greatest of all time in the eyes of a ton of millenials out there. (and honestly he had a better claim than most naturalized players being at Barcelona since he was 13 years old). Argentina brought down his legacy.

Agreed . Only exception is if there is a smaller team actually playing entertaining stuff. Do people really want to watch Iceland parking the bus in KO rounds ?

I am thinking ... would that be the best result ?

We gonna have to watch out for their crosses. They look strong there. Hate going into the last game not qualified. Not something we experience often.

Serbia beating Switzerland is the best result. That qualifies Serbia and takes the pressure off the last game for them. It also makes it impossible for Switzerland to qualify with anything other than a win over Costa Rica.

Also, it makes Switzerland's goal difference worse, so if disaster strikes and we lose to Serbia, we'd likely still go through on goal difference. A tie would guarantee Serbia in 1st and Brasil in 2nd.

Right. Double-edged sword though. Nigeria will be super motivated now because a win by any margin (and indeed, likely even a draw, unless Iceland destroys Croatia) would send them through to the round of 16.

Nigeria has a history of beating the Argies too... Most recently in a friendly by 4x2.

Not really. Argentina has beaten them in every WC. And they've met a lot lately. I think 4 time.

With this result, a draw still sends us through on GD vs Serbia.

    Virada for the Swiss.

    2 x 1

A tie sends us through. Swiss in the drivers seat if CR goes on vacation early. But we have GD.

    Great result for Brazil.

Now Serbia can't bunker like the first 2 opponents and have to play for the win.
Should open things up a lot offensively.

I'm not worried about them taking Brazilian defenders on 1 v 1.

I am worried about defending in the air off crosses and especially corners!!!!

Don't allow any free kick situations for Kolarov......he's maybe the best FK taker in the world.
