Kroos has the luxury of playing next to Modric at Real who plugs up all the defensive holes for him as he is simply everywhere due to his tremendous workrate. However, with the NT, Khedira is no where close to Modric and can barely move around himself let alone cover up for Kroos and that killed them on the Mexico goal.

Yes I was going to say the same thing. Akanji was great. Finally a Dortmund player excelling at the tournament.

Piszczek was beaten badly on a wide aerial challenge to launch the counter which set up Senegal's 1st goal against Poland - didn't look great there. Kagawa had a nice game including a penalty won and scored in a win over Colombia.

Guerreiro needs to put on some muscle, stay healthy, and order a right foot online. Even then I have doubts as to whether he should ever play in the back line.

I thought Guerreiro looked much better today in the first half, at least going forward. Defensively, he didn't win many one on ones but that seem to be getting harder for FBs as the wingers either beat you with pace or pass around you.

Defensively he was getting mauled by Amrabat but his saving grace is his offensive game. He is essentially a Marcelo type where you need everyone else around him to pick up the slack for his defensive deficiencies...now is Dortmund the club that can do that??

Guerreiro has never looked convincing and is not as good as Schmelzer defensively .
Looked promising when played in central midfield last season with Weigl . Also good wide .
Would like to retain him but think BVB haven’t been good for him , have misused him and he will improve elsewhere .

Further proof that the club is in dire need of more ambitious management. Watzke and Co must GTFO ASAP.

Raphael has never been given a chance at left back. Schmelzer is poor defensively as well. I would give Raphael one last season.

In better news Kagawa scored and Akanji has had another very good game.

He is looking like he could be a very good signing.

Wow. I am watching the Portgual vs Morocoo match. Raphael had probably put in the worst performance I have seen out of any player in the world cup and I have seen most games.

Yes, just a bad team performance. A shame that all the effort that went into Lewa's new hairstyle can only be appreciated for 3 games.

There just seemed to be a certain level of arrogance about a fair few of the German players. Müller, Kimmich, Boateng... not seeing what they all have in common but they played like they didn’t care and thus, they’re out.

Well deserved drop out. This team reminded me of Dortmund of recent years, playing with no plan, playing legacy players who r obviously past their best when there's better options on the bench. Some players as mentioned seem cocky and not giving an ef, even the management, that incident after winning goal with Sweden was disgraceful. Feel sorry for responding and a few others but overall a well deserved early trip home

As spain in brazil 2014, germany go back home. A shame. And a bad moment for marco.

In honesty, Reus didn’t play so bad but you’ve really gotta feel for the guy. Missed the 2014 glory (I think??) and his first World Cup, the ‘team’ were dreadful on many levels

What hurts me the most is the fact that Reus missed out on what will probably be his only shot at World Cup glory. I seriously doubt he'll be around for 2022, as he will be 33 by that time and with his injury record... meanwhile the 23 motherf uckers from Spain have a World Cup title they don't deserve. Even worse is the possibility that the 2017 DFB-Pokal will be his only major trophy.

Football can be so cruel sometimes.

Yeah, but the fact remains. Marco Reus, one of the most talented footballers ever and a genuinely nice guy has very little silverware to show for it.

    Maybe ... Maybe not ...
Depends on your priorities and perceptions of life ... there is a great quote 'Between flattery and admiration, runs a river of contempt', I suppose fame and accolades are much the same ... they're intrinsically worthless. I'm sure if u really gave it some consideration, u could find a few million people on this planet more deserving of your sympathy.

OK, now that Denmark are out of the World Cup, can anybody tell me how did Delaney fare? I really didn't pay much attention to him.
