In fairness, Sweden will be playing with urgency too. Taking a point from them can set up a 'play it safe' friendly with Mexico to guarantee both teams spot in the R16.

This is a team who has heard nothing but the likeliness of their failures due to not having Ibra, they def have something to prove and are playing with a chip on their shoulder to show Sweden and the world that Ibra is not needed for them to have success.

The way i see it, an upgrade at CB with Lindelof will help their chances. The desperation to turn the tournamnt around for the Germans will likely leave a lot of counter attacking options open, and going against Hummels/Boateng will not set the Swedes at a disadvantage as neither are very fast CB's.

Anything can happen, and while i would probably tend to agree that i can see Germany pulling out a narrow 1 goal win, it would not urprise me at all if Sweden scrapes out a point here.

As much as our chances to go to the KO stage very slim, I rather want us to focus score some goals to keep the game entertaining. It is not like we are gonna keep back of our net clean by parking the bus or so.

    I wasn't "talking" to you.
    :p

    (most likely you didn't)
(and very similarly, my world "tilt over", when we lost at home vs. Paraguay, as I knew that moment we would not make it to this WC)

Thing is, when it gets to football, never say never, as when you least expect it, it happens....

Italy is a team that has always struggled to score goals, especially against teams that bunker. The difference in quality between what the Italians have in attack vs what the Germans have in attack is huge.

I don't remember any team with inferior quality to Germany playing a bunker style and the Germans failing to break them down in a competitive match ever. Mexico did not bunker. They pressed really in the midfield and made it hard for the Germans to string passes together. They bunkered a little more in the second half, but not nearly to the extent that Sweden likes to.

Guys get real, are you seriously thinking that Germany will fail to score against Sweden? With all the quality they have up front? Bunkering like that against a dangerous team with the quality Germany has is asking for trouble.

No I think they'll win but it wouldn't shock me if it happened.

The Germans are known for handling pressure without problem. But they are finding themselves in a new scenario, the pressure that they will have vs Sweden must be insane.

Yeah - Korea were very poor. They nearly got their point yesterday, but you're right, it will be hard for them now.

    How good is Mexico?
Winning against Germany is a great result of course but I really think that the German side has been rather poor of late.

Call me crazee but I think Corea might get a result of some sort against Mexico.

It's possible Mexico lay an egg but I highly doubt it. They look sharp and I doubt they'll underestimate SK. They'll want to qualify asap and not have to worry too much about game 3.

You've diminished Mexico's accomplishment with several posts, not just this one.

Not giving credit to Mexico's talented, athletic, organized side.

It must be that Germany is poor.

Well, you'll get to find out first hand. Let's see how the Swedes do against that 'poor side'. Don't be surprised if they beat you by a goal or two.

Germany is going to throw everything at Sweden for the full 90. Have fun.

I tend to feel that Mexico is overrated by some, yes.
Right or wrong..we will know for sure in a couple of weeks if this is a fair evaluation or not.

I can hardly say Mexico is the best team in the world when I honestly doesn´t think so.

    I might be wrong though,but I don´t think so.

Mexico of late have done decent vs second rate Euro sides (Croacia 2014). No offense to Swedish posters, I didn’t really think they showed anything interesting in their match vs SK. Either way I hope we go into that match with 6 points and a clear idea of what kind of result we need.

TBH if we’re going to consider how teams have been as of late, Germany walked their way to Russia and Sweden barely made it. I don’t understand the rhetoric by some to diminish the champs just because it’s been 4 years. It’s not like they haven’t played a fair number of important games in the past year and a half.

I loved the Swedish talking trash after their game on Monday "the pressure is now with the Germans". A favor that you shouldnt make

Hey...Germany are the world champions,we are not.
The world and his mother thinks that Germany will beat Sweden.
We have three points, you have zero.

The pressure is ALL on Germany. It is not a thing we made up.Germany has put themselves firmly in this position.

For perspective,a big poll in Sweden yesterday said that 40 percent of the swedes expect Germany to beat us.

Do the same poll in Germany and I expect .1 percent would say Sweden will beat Germany.

    We have realistic expectations.

You really lack an understanding of football if you think Mexico is overrated. They aren't world Champions or the best team in the world but as a fan of African fooball I would back them as being the best team outside of South America and Europe. They usually can hold their own against most 2nd or 3rd tier European sides and against the mid to bottom south American sides as well. They also have a good record against pretty much any team from the rest of the world. They also usually linger around 10-20th in the world in world rankings on both ELO and FIFA. I wouldn't say they are overrated.

They are much better than most of the teams in Europe and South America or at least level. Besides Germany/France/Spain, they compete toe to toe. Same with South America. Besides Brazil (who they usually play very well against) and Argentina they go toe to toe or are better than the remaining teams.

I would say find me a team outside of Europe/South America that's better than Mexico.

    It doesn't exist.

Sweden are the clear favorites on Saturday. Just look at the table. Everything else is smoke and mirrors
