Red Bull had a lot of possession that went nowhere. Union were brilliant on the counter, but Burke missed two goals any person being paid to play the game should easily bury. Andrew Wenger scores those.

One of those games. I felt like RBNY never really were in it to be honest.

It was a fun open cup game. Both teams played strong lineups. Both teams like to press, so there was some choppy play. Lots of missed chances for both teams. Union hung on in the end for the victory.

I thought the Union were decent tonight. Had some good stretches of play. Still need a clinical goal scorer though. The Union should have scored 3-4 goals in the first half honestly.

Colin had his usual TES Open Cup game moment....I hope someone makes a GIF of that............it was hilarious.

Survive and advance. Now they get the winner of DCU - D'ohlando.

Not boring. I'd call it a solid (albeit imperfect) win against the hated Red Bulls, who didn't start BWP. Was a perfect weather night at the stadium, and a couple of players played well (Borek, Haris, Blake). Looking forward to the next round on 7/18.

It was a fun game. Chippy. I didn’t care for the ref - he was allowing a LOT of contact in the first half. A lot of our guys were getting frustrated. He called it the same way consistently, at least, but he didn’t feel like a regular PRO guy.

The reaction of the crowd behind him really makes it. Ha ha ha.

LOL, I'm right above the O in No :D

Beauty of a deflection. That move he put on Tyler Adams though.............took him to school.

Thought that Borek played terrible. His passing percentage must have been below 20%.

What'd you use on your PS4? I was stuck in streaming-on-my-roku mindset and couldn't find anything to play it.

The built-in web browser. It recognizes the video and lets you expand it to full screen mode. Someone suggested it to me and I imagined it would be clunky...but, no, it works surprisingly well.

Had so much fun. All these people that skip Cup matches have no idea what they are missing.

yeah, I mean on a random Wednesday I get people not wanting to fight traffic for some of these. But what was the excuse on an absolutely gorgeous Saturday against a rival (feel free to debate that on your own) with cheap tickets?

People have no clue. What a great deal is was: $10 for one of the most entertaining matches I have seen at the stadium. Every Cup game is exciting and this fact needs to be better advertised.

I had to go to work during the middle of game.

But read through the thread. People planned weddings, vacations, and other events during the expected week off. If I knew an Open Cup game vs Red Bull was going to happen, I'd have taken a vacation day.

Home game last week, home game this week, open cup wedged in between. Sometimes you have to make plans on the weekend off, because lord knows my lady would have my head if I dragged her to Chester 3 weekends in a row

I wasn't trying to call out individuals. Of course people make plans. It just looks bad when it's 1/4 the usual crowd for a game that "matters".

Hate to break this to you, but the average Union STH either doesn't even know what the USOC is, or they assume it's some kind of meaningless friendly or exhibition tournament. They are used to the traditional American sports that don't have non-league games during the regular season...if it's not on the schedule when the season ticket package is released, it doesn't exist.

You're not breaking anything. I've been to pretty much every home open cup game. It's just telling of the state of things that where you used to get about half the crowd, you now get a quarter of it.

I disagree. If you are a union season ticket holder, you know by now what the open cup is. For me, sometimes there are just too many games jammed into a month or so. 3 weekends in a row is a bit much

It's a little bit of everything.... It's short notice and not well advertised.
We've known since Saturday that we will be hosting on July 18th right? The team still doesn't have any ticket information.

I can MAYBE see the excuse of "well we didn't know the opponent" (flaky excuse)

    They posted this last night:

    https://www.philadelphiaunion.com/p...ost-orlando-city-sc-quarterfinals-us-open-cup

CHESTER, Pa. (June 20, 2018) – Following tonight’s completion of the Round of 16 in the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Philadelphia Union will play Orlando City SC in the next round of the competition. The Quarterfinal contest takes place at Talen Energy Stadium on Wednesday, July 18 and is set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. ET. All ticketing information will be announced at a later date.

C'mon guys... what have you been doing all week? They need to get this quick turn-around shit on the calendar ASAP.

And we play a meaningless friendly the 14th at home and LA Galaxy at home on the 21st. Good luck selling tickets to any casual fans with the hottest ticket of the year 3 days later
