The Ornstein replies are far and away the best thing about Twitter. Possibly the only good thing.

Finally... we are signing players early... certainly the transfer deadline being moved up three weeks or so... helps but Sven and co. Is the biggest difference...

Hopefully we won’t drop 8 pts in August

    Ps
I know very little about torreira but the signing looks apatezing

Even if we are done after a GK i am ok with it because we dont want to waste money on crap players. We need enough to fortify the team to ensure champions league so we can draw top talent again. Keep in mind that we need to see what the squad will be like under Emery. Some players may begin to shine that we did not expect to. January could allow us to dip into the market again if we need too. We cant get too ahead of ourselves.

    Re Sokratis...

Andrew Mangin keeps saying "sah-KRAT-is" which sounds entirely wrong. Wouldn't it be "SOCK-rah-tees"? As in the ancient philosopher Socrates?

Not for Atletico. They run a 4-2-2-2 with a d minded coach. The 2 CMs need to be defensively sound and Lemar is more of an offensive guy.

Simeone may see him as a second striker, behind Costa, i.e. as a replacement for Griezmann if Griezmann moves to Barcelona. Edit: I see thebigman beat me to it.

    You’re mispronouncing the latter.

I dunno. I'm just going with how I've heard it 100% of my fairly long life. And I'm comforted to be in line with the learned gents who made up Monty Python. (see above clip, if you didn't already)

Edit: If you Google "socrates name pronunciation" 3 out of the top 4 hits pronounce it the way I've always heard it. Maybe the other 1 of 4 is how the Greeks would pronounce it. I guess when the guy actually shows up at Colney, someone will ask him how HE pronounces it, and then we'll go with that.

If you look at the phonetics, you're pronouncing it correctly.

Claims that Torreira's agent is off to Russia so we can get him locked up before the WC games start.

PSG found to not violate FFP (smacks head).

Then, they apparently have to sell sixty million quid (or euros?) worth of players between now and the end of the month to pass FFP.

Remember when it was too hard for Wumger to sign any players because the market yet Arse have nearly signed 2 key defensive players plus a backup fullback by mid June?
