The third goal she scored was very good. She is playing with a lot more confidence at the moment.

I would have loved to have watched this match just to get an idea of Nadeshiko's approach. But the second and third goals were very nice and perhaps an indication they will try more early crosses into the box in the future.

Of course they may have done it more (early crosses) this game because they felt comfortable on the ball and had more time to make such crosses.

I have been too busy with work lately. I just watched the INAC/Beleza game. Really good match, particularly the second half. It was a very high quality game, despite it only being a one goal game.

Some comments about today's Nadeshiko Cup Division 2 + Challenge League match-day:

Why do I have the feeling that you will tell me that you talked multiple times about this Kurumi Ogawa but I will have to tell that I don't remember her name, unepomme? :x3: So, please, patiently explain while the smile next to her name... :giggle:

Wow, that's very unexpected! Not only we don't use to get similar results in this Challenge League, but, so far, Niigata University of Health and Welfare had looked like a more than decent team, with 16 points out of 10 games and a goal difference that was of 0 until today. What did happen? Have I to suppose that Niigata have put some kind of B-team (or youth team) on the pitch because of other commitments (for instance some kind of University championship)? :cautious:

By the way (for my stats) I assume the Nakamura who scored last goal was MF Hikaru Nakamura and not DF Arisa Nakamura.

Likewise, I guess this is likely much more famous Mariko Tanaka, and not semi-unknown Erina Tanaka.

Maybe it's for the first time since long time ago.
Her presence in me comes from the memory of the 22th high school championship in January 2014.

For example, the main members of the semi-final between Tokiwagi and Fujieda are following:
Ichise, Nishikawa, Ito Miki, Kobayashi Rikako, Shiraki for the former, and Okukawa, Ohkubo Moe and Mai, Sugita, Kawano, Kono, Yamashita and Ogawa for the latter

Those for the champion Hinomoto is following:
Haza, ManYa, Kunitake, Kojima, Ikejiri, Irie and Yasaka

A lot of familiar names, aren't there?

In fact, Ogawa is rather an ordinary player (but pretty:p), so I'm pleased with the fact that she has continued to play football through university days, while another pretty one Yamashita soon retired.

    Wow, indeed!!!

I envy you for you perfect memory of high-school championships: they often fade or blur in the memory for me.

By the way, what the name was of that pretty pony-tailed winger who was playing in a successful Fujieda side maybe one or two years after that? Her first name was also Moe, if I remember well, but I can't remember her family name at the moment. She had scored a brace in the final (probably won vs Tokiwagi again, coming back from behind?), if I remember well, or something of the kind.

Thank you. Doesn't look much different from the short video we had found on the Kiwi page, and still we don't get to see New Zealand's goal, but it's anyway something.

Yamashita was surrounded by many players so I can understand it was a bit tricky one, but if you have to point the finger at someone then you have to say it was GK's mistake.

I think she's the best GK we have at the moment, but it is a concern that she seems to make at least one mistake per game, and similar sort of mistakes. Her judgement on the crosses always worries me. It just does not give the defenders confidence. She misjudged the seemingly easy cross in the Asian Cup final, that led to the penalty. She was lucky that it was a poor penalty so it didn't cost the match, but had Australia scored that I don't think Nadeshiko had a chance and it could have been the similar scoreline to the nations cup. She also misjudged a cross against the USA - this one was a good cross I have to admit.

I also find that she is a bit too slow coming out from 5 yard box - often hesitant.

My hope is that she's very young and she turned to a GK late so she's not got much experience yet as a GK. So hopefully those decision making improve.

Thank you very much! And I agree with your considerations: Yamashita is most probably the best GK that we have available, but she's not completely there yet. Let's hope, like you said, that, being still quite young, she still has a learning curve ahead of her.

About Japan's goals, it's difficult to read jersey numbers in this video, so I need help to name the assist-women: I guess the assist for first goal was by Iwabuchi and for the second one by Sumida; what about the third one? Probably that long cross in the box was the best one of the bunch, but I can't identify the player who made it. :cautious:

Iwabuchi was not part of this squad due to poor condition (it didn’t say it was injury but it could be just that she was not 100% fit after coming back from her injury - I'm guessing). I think it was Nakasato for the first goal. The third goal, I don’t have confidence but it could be Utsugi from the position. Nakajima was near the box and the right fullback appears to be near the touch line.

I've just read Kei Matsubara's article and I can confirm that it was Utsugi's assist for the third goal.

Thanks, I had read a #8 on the shirt and I had forgot about Iwabuchi missing.

Kei Matsubara is always great! :)

It was a 'perfect hat-trick' - ie left foot, right foot, header.

Very interesting :): Freiburg was unexpectedly good in the last two seasons, despite not being a traditional "big name" of Frauen-Bundesliga. They finished this season at third place, well ahead of Yokohama's 1.FFC Franfurt at 6th, but some points behind the top-duo of the teams that qualified for Champions' League (Wolfsburg 56, Bayern München 53, Freiburg 48).
The only thing worrying me is that, on German boards, I've read that Freiburg basically dismantled most of their team, by selling their best young prospects to big teams like Wolfsburg and Bayern. But maybe signing Naomoto is part of their plan to keep raising up anyway.

One things is for sure: Naomoto needs an experience overseas, both to grow her game and to grow as a person, so it's good for her.

Our plan seems similar to Sasaki's one, when a lot of players went overseas one season ahead of WWC 2011. Let's hope the plan has the same result. :giggle:

I don’t know what kind of team Freiburg is but it seems a bit strange move to me. I wonder if she gets decent playing time.

So far in Nadeshiko league this season, I wouldn’t say she’s playing badly but at the same time I don’t think she is that impressive either. One year to go till the World Cup, if she doesn’t get good playing time, she could be out of the World Cup squad. It’s not like she’s made a mark in the National team since Takakura took over - quite underwhelming performances really.

Don't know about the team, but anyway it's a nice part of the world -- Freiburg is close to both the Swiss and French borders, and if Hikaru has a car she can zip over to Basel or Mulhouse for lunch.

As I said above, Freiburg is an emerging team in Frauen-Bundesliga (third place this year, behind Wolfsburg and Bayern only), but at the same time a lot of their current players just left for bigger teams; so, at the same time, Hikaru shouldn't have problems in getting playing time (and I think that, being the year before WWC, negotiations with the club somehow tackled this question for sure), and she should find a young ambitious team who showed being on a growing curve. In my opinion, this is just the chance she needed to raise up her level, that, as you rightfully said, hasn't been so impressive so far. :)

Freiburg is honestly easily the most exciting club currently in Frauen-Bundesliga. They do excellent work in their youth academy, so even though they traditionally lose their best players every season (this season was the rule really) they continually manage to more than make up for that with new youth prospects rising up. They also play good football (contrary to overpowered teams like Wolfsburg and Bayern that too often lack chemistry and have very odd squad choices, dreadful that). This past season their biggest issue hasn't been their ability but their inconsistency.
