I feel like those other moments were different to this. It might just be me, but i feel like in the past I didn't worry too much about getting bad results in friendlies or playing awful because I knew that Mexico could do way better. There was still that extra step that it could take. Presently, I feel like this team has reached it's "peak form" (in terms of the philosophy Osorio is trying to instill) and that's what has me worried. Does team have that extra step/gear it could take? That's just my opinion though. In the past we always had that extra gear we could hit, but under Osorio I'm not so sure.
I had this same conversation with my brother after the last friendly. I ain't even trippin'.....yes, I'm no fan of Osorio but I'm confident that we'll get out of the group. If we lose to Brazil, I doubt they'll run us over. Full disclosure, I low key want to get into the 5th game de panzazo
Mexico lost their last two friendlies before 2014 World Cup. They are pretty bad bellweathers of success. Hell, the gringos were strutting around like vergas paradas after beating the Netherlands and Germany in 2015 only to lose in the semis of the Gold Cup.
I kind of believe we would have scored those chances had the match been held in any other stadium. The Azteca seems to work against the team’s favour lately.
I went to the game and have a couple of observations - Everytime it's tougher to go to Azteca for the matches and I kind of get why people boo. Tickets are super expensive, traffic gets worse and worse and people thus can't tolerate all those misses. I got there at 5:30 (plenty of time for a 7 pm game) and almost didn't get to the parking spot because it was all gone. To make matters worse, it's been extremely hot for this week in Mexico City. I thus can get what people get mad when the team fails to perform. If I had seen the game on TV, I wouldn't have been nearly as frustrated. - This team is pressure by Azteca. This is just common but while people can be surprised by today, it's the same type of performance against Panama, Canada and Guyana from the times I been there recently. They miss good chances and stuff like that Vela play was key. Anywhere else I think he doesn't try to do a 2nd play but he wanted to play it safe and wasted it. - That being said, I'm super pissed at the linesman blowing Oribe's goal with that BS offside. I didn't see it at that stadium but that goal would have helped the team to settle and turned things around - That being said the important thing is that the team played well at least for 3/4 of the field and more importantly, didn't get any injuries. That Nestor Araujo injury has changed things for the team a lot but I just think it's a worldwide trend. I saw the Belgium-Portugal friendly before it and it was super boring and almost look like an MLS all star game. Nobody wants to get injured. - I'm a little worried about Raul Jimenez and his form. Still I don't think he's necessarily going to be at this level but I though he had a poor game. Same with Fabian although him I think could be rusty but he also could be extra cautious before the world cup (along with Salcedo, the most out of all the players). - Anybody who thinks Jonathan Dos Santos shouldn't be in this team is either dumb, wrongly biased because of his brother or both.
Hypoglycemic attack? That sucks, specially because that could've been fixed by giving him something to eat. Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler Unless you mean hyperglycemia, which is a different can of worms
All I picture is that scene from Apocalypto when they carve that dude up at the top of the pyramid. The natives were restless. 1000 and 500 years later, things haven't changed. : )
My problem with this team is our defense has more hole than Swiss cheese and our offense can't score.
It should have been a rout but I'm not too worried. I felt like a few players held back and did not want to risk injury. I think we will probably see a much more looser team in the Denmark game.
Also, the most infuriating part of the game for me was seeing Oribe standing around like a chode after Tecatito chipped the goal keeper and the Scottish defender calmly headed it out.
I thought Raul had some nice one touches and lay offs to other players, and held the ball well with his strength a few times. While he didn't stand out I still think he offers more than Chicharito does right now, who disappears completely if he doesn't have service and usually can't link up with his teammates well.
Oh, man. I just went back and watched the end of the game on FS1. "There's the whistle of Henry Alberto Bejarano Matarrita, iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's OVER! Giovani Alex dos Santos Ramirez score the lone goal that allows Mexico say, "bye bye" to its country before the World Cup." "And my pleasure, um, Jorge. Oh, they need to improve, that's the truth." "We're going to be back, don't go anywhere." "Ok." "We're coming back with the best of this match because this is FS1." "I'm going somewhere." Let's get a petition started to have FOX hire @John Jagou to do games.
I saw the match and what's with everyone trying to score a bicycle kick goal? Jimenez tried once and Peralta tried twice. I was screaming at the T.V "you're not that good pendejo!" Vela looked sharp as hell, Gio played decent you can tell him and Vela have chemistry. I noticed that defender Salcedo kicking and kneeing everyone lol that vato gives no ********s, I like him. Was't the greatest game but like everyone said, at least no one got injured.
He's could totally pull it off too. Lots of knowledge, knows both cultures, adds color and humor....I'd love to hear his pikolin jokes on tv and occasional Moz references.
I appreciate the kind words from you both. For now, I will stick to producing, but who knows what the future holds. As far as the match was concerned, I see a team that is starting to gel. Super happy for Edson, who should start at right back to let Salcedo pair up with Moreno if he gets healthy. I liked all the outside shots as well. More encouraged now than I was in March.
