Hope you only said that to use the word "bailed" as a pun. Mistakes from the keeper but they only scored one goal.
In terms of overall impact, he's the 2nd most important signing in RM history after Di Stefano. I put ZZ and Ron in the same tier.
For all the money spent previously, our true success has only come in the last 4-5 seasons. Seeing James go and Benzema starting in front of Bale makes me mad but it's just so hard to question this guy when we win again and again.
well done ZZ now he needs to work on domestic dominance, he needs to bring in younger players who are hungry , drill into them , how to succeed and winning mentality
The player (for now), no doubt. He was a true icon. Still needs some years and achievements to get to that status IMO. Having said that, he's on his way. What a guy. Did in three years what others didn't manage in their whole career. Great manager!
I don't always agree with his decisions, but he's the best possible coach for this club. I hope he sticks around for a long time.
"Gareth's, mine and Cristiano Ronaldo's in Turin are three goals for the history books. The last one is the most important one and that's why I'll go for Bale's goal". Zizou
Away KO matches in CL: Barca under Pep win rate: 16% Real Madrid under Zizou win rate: 89% That's insane. Just bow down.
I remember Pep's Barca getting outplayed at Stuttgart, Lyon away etc. Both drew when they should have comfortably won if not for missing easy chances. Barca were devastating at home though. Smashed many teams by a big margin. While we went to many tough stadiums like Turin, Allianz, Paris and won breaking their long unbeaten streaks at home. Home results are more mixed. I see a lot of journos trying to belittle our European dominance in last 5 years saying we don't have a particular style or didn't thrash teams consistently. For me the most dominant team in a CL season was 2013 Bayern. They thrashed everyone on their way to final including Juve 4-0 and Barca 7-0. We are adept at playing teams with all kinds of style and knocking them out. But same folks who criticize us hype Pep's Barca as if they had no problems against top teams in Europe. We all know his European record is nothing great with City and Bayern. Perp's Barca got eliminated by Inter and Chelsea despite playing against ten men for over 50 minutes against both sides. Can anyone imagine ZZ's RM side going out despite such a massive advantage? We all know they struggled to beat 2009 Chelsea as well. Pep has created some great league sides, but had his fair share of struggles against different style of teams in CL. Be it well organized Chelsea, Inter, Atletico team or pacy teams like 2014 RM, Monaco or Liverpool. But yea, "romantics" will rewrite history as if Pep's Barca brushed aside all the teams on their way.
It is amazing to me that people are trying to belittle this team’s accomplishments... you’d think playing attractive football with incredible technical players like Modric/Kroos/Isco and all-time golazos would be enough to get some admiration. We’re not a shit-on-a-stick Mourinho team that parks the bus or w/e. There’s some cynicism in our game but not anymore than any great team in the game’s history. But really as I always try to tell y’all... who cares. The point of the sport is to entertain and win. And our guys entertain and win. No need to apologize for not having an inferiority complex or the pathological need to believe we’re holier than anyone else. Just point to Isco and Marcelo running circles around hapless defenders and playing the game with absolute joy and then to the trophy case. Personally that’s all I need.
Can't agree with the bolded part, while we have that weird attitude in the league or Clasicos where it's like home & away results get reversed, in Europe our only loss under Zizou has been against Juve.
I have a bad feeling that if France fell flat in this coming WC Finals. Th whole of France would ask Zidane to save them and he would answer the call. Who would not answer the call from your own nation? Besides, he knows that he has Mbappe, Pogba, Varane, Griezmann, etc at his disposal. He is taking over a team that could win the Euro 2020. Perez probably won't stop him because it isn't just about pissing off PSG or Atletico Madrid.
I would be very tempted to leave if I was ZZ and a small part of me would like to see him ride off into the sunset this summer. But I think he still thinks he has work to do here (for all of the club’s unbelievable accomplishments, we’ve never won the treble) and thank God for that.
I think there is 0 chance Zidane is leaving this summer, and especially not after the WC. He wouldn't leave the club high and dry like that.
