To me the Gallagher/Denny partnership is just limited in what it can achieve. Our overall performance level at the U17 Euros fell apart when we ended up with a similar combo.

It’s been asked before but Skipp not even making this pretty makeshift squad? You’ve got three CM’s that are all quite similar in style but no opportunity for someone like Skipp? The amount of times some of the others in this squad have been picked over and over but only ever trusted in the weak opponent games is pretty bizarre.

Skipp not making this squad is bizarre! Who is the manager of the U18's? Dewsnip? There are and probably always will be a wierd selection in England Youth football to a degree where you are left scratching your head.

Just on this obsession with England and having two holding midfielders, it drives me mad especially against supposedly weaker opponents as it's just limits the attacking threat and is just negative tactics and the sooner we move away from that the better.

Skipp's absence does not make sense, he's as good defensively as the pure DM at disposal and a lot better with the ball.

Gives a false sense of security. Patterns of play often the same at international level, under pressure limited midfielders will pass backwards, the CB's are forced to play long balls, which leads to losing control and eventually being under pressure and concede.

While I'm also not a fan of 2 DMs a Skipp/Gallagher partnership would be a lot more dynamic than Gallagher/Denny. My knowledge of Denny is limited to the Euros last year and even then I wondered why he was there ahead of Skipp. He seemed slow, and if I'm honest average. Skipp has the ability to be metronomic and get up the field. Haven't watched the game yet, and I doubt Denny is at fault for anything but when these results happen, do start questioning some of the strange decision.

Coincidentally this popped up on my youtube front page just now

Remember the game against Portugal in 04? In fact any big game with Sven.

I don’t think Denny has been impressive in any of his England displays tbh. The thing is though why did the staff not just give McEachran a break? He’s had a few quite excessive seasons with Chelsea and England’s respective schedules. Why not just give his place to Skipp?

I just think squad selections at U18/19/21 are a bit lazy and ill thought out.

Maybe for some bizarre reason the coaching staff just don't rate Skipp for some reason but just seems odd given the general consensus is that he is better than others that are selected. Or maybe that my football app is right after all and he's decided his International future is with El Salvador :whistling:

I have a feeling Spurs wanted Skipp to go on all their summer tournaments with them.

Why is Eyoma there then? More evidence to assume he’s being ignored because they prefer these selected options.

Ye McEachran could have done with a break. It's not like we're short of CMs and we could have tested others out, like O'Riley (unless he is still injured), given Gomes game time on his return from injury or tried out someone like Kamal from Norwich who looks decent.

I can't see why City should be bothered about him pushing his luck elsewhere.

Unfortunately his contract is to 2020, he is only renegotiating.

So, guess that’s U23 football for him then next season where as he could have been on a similar path as Sancho in Germany.

Really hope Latibeaudiere leaves City, he was the best CB of the world cup U17 for me. Very quick and composed in possession. His size is the only issue.

He's better off staying in the sanctuary of LFC for now.

He could get real game time for them straight away.

He certainly needs to move. Even though he'll probably never be seen again.
