Not all NT gave preliminary names or 35 players...He just didn't have to name him if he wasn't intend too...It sounds strange and if you hear the reaction of the journalists you can see that they are surprised as well. No one see it coming.

Not all Federations made public the list of 35 but each one did have to send a list of 35 to FIFA.

I saw it coming. And I read internet rumors from Colombian journalists many days ago saying this might happen.

maybe pekerman knew all along that he would cut cardona and wanted to make sure noone was injured before making that final decision?

i'm bummed about it, but maybe this will really help Cardona grow both professionally and personally. his ability for scoring goals in clutch situations will be missed. now i feel bad for my empanada/chicharron jokes - i hope pekerman wasn't taking me seriously when he was reading our posts.

so what do you guys make of this?

Did you buy a conditional second round ticket?

If you got those, you won't get it through the mail

    ----------Falcao
    --Muriel
    ---------------Quintero
    ----James--------------Uribe
    ----------------Sanchez

If he uses this formation, (I almost quoted is formation from that World Cup with Argentina) he imo is looking to try and start Quintero in the Macnelly/Riquelme roll. I think in that formation starting Cuadrado at RB is a real possibility, he was really good for Juve when he played RB and offers a ton of offense from that position.

When we get possession James or Quintero will drop in to get on the ball and allow Uribe or Cuadrado/Arias to push higher making runs into the right side. I like this formation a lot with what we have and it fits the players perfectly (James has played deeper and done really well for Bayern). Having James and Quintero both willing and able to drop deep to orchestrate allows each one to drift between the lines to get on the ball when the other is deeper. Two experts at line breaking passes with Muriel/Uribe/Cuadrado breaking from midfield allows short advancement of possession and the ability to have James/Quintero pick up the ball behind the midfield defensive lines and maximize their skillset. Pekerman loves this formation and we've been at our best with that formation (2014 WCQ), couple of changes can make it more defensive as well when necessary.

I know a lot of people don't trust Quintero but I think it could be coming and I want to see it. This would be usable in all the games in our group, as we advance vs better competition we probably would have to drop Quintero for more defensive coverage and either Add a CM like Lerma or Cuadrado.

Yeah, no way Caballero gets the nod and I think Armani is better than Nahuel (who will replace Romero most likely).

Great for a quality professional who worked hard and never gave up on his dream.

makes me happy to see the guy achieve his dream, wild 6 months. I wasn't sure if we were talking about Armani anymore so I hadn't posted anything of his.

really lucky that Romero gets injured just before the world cup. Should be #1 now.

Most likely because until last week people was still fantasizing about Armani being part of Colombia's squad and because most thought his chances to actually play for Argentina were very slim.

IIRC, it is not unusual for Argentina to suffer with strange goalie drama, Pumpido got injured in 1990 and Abondanzieri in 2006, making the unlikely Goycochea and Leo Franco into starters in the World Cup.

Pibe10 shouldn't have asked that question. Now we keep talking about Argentina forever.

BTW, many people think Poland is the favorite in the group and often mention because of Lewandowski. That guy isn't even the best in Bayern. I have also read (it doesn't matter where) that Poland and Japan are the only disciplined teams in the group.
