"Another rule?" What are the previous rule(s) that the league has enacted to prevent San Jose from getting a DP?
Wasn't San Jose in hiatus when the MLS DP rule was enacted? I would say that was a fairly ironclad way to ensure San Jose could not avail itself of a DP.
Javier Hernandez and ex-Man City duo linked with shock MLS move Football.London Balotelli in MLS? That would be cool!
Watching SKC, a soccer team, take apart Vancouver WC, a track team, and one with tactics / philosophy similar to our own Stahrean Quakes. Quick counters! Attack fast! Lump up forward quickly!
LOL. I didn't even see the part where it went to 9 men. Did you watch the game? It was already 3-0 when I stopped watching and posted. Vancouver's game was a total failure at 11 men. That was the point. I don't care what happened after they got totally frustrated and the wheels completely came off.
I just checked out the highlights. There went to handbags over a foul by Waston that looked worse than it was. Waston received a yellow, but, it was Johnny Russell's taking offense to Waston getting in the SKC player's face after the foul that caused all the trouble.Personally, I think Vancouver was hard done by, but, like you said, SKC was already dismantling them by that point.
Thought this belonged here instead of the other thread..... I haven’t seen enough of the USL since it has grown in the last few years to really judge it. In theory a league that plays professionally from April until September/October should be a lot better than a college team that plays 18-20 games from September to early November. One thing our top colleges offer students are the athletic facilities and fields. MLS clubs are probabaly now all first rate but I doubt anyone in the USL has anything that resembles what our universities have. Heck most first division teams in Europe with the exception of a few big clubs could ever match what Stanford , Cal or SJSU’s campuses offer. The soccer experience may be better but everything else isn’t. Jonathan Klinsmann left a beautiful environment up at Berkeley to be third string GK in Germany but the club is ready to give up on him. They are keeping around for his name but I’m betting on some ways he was still playing college ball....
There have been 23 goals scored in the four #MLS games thus far this weekend. The all-time league record for goals in a weekend came on Decision Day last year (Oct. 22), with 46 goals scored in the 11 games. There are seven more games tonight and tomorrow. Let the countdown begin— Rick Lawes (@ricklawes) April 21, 2018
Well this is horrifying... thank God not in the US. This is not ok. The last 10 seconds are HORRIFIC. There are NO words to describe this behaviour. Barbaric is too mild. @KaizerChiefs fans, do not be surprised if broadcasters refuse to show your games live #BanTheFans pic.twitter.com/BpIDnTxFZo— Cindy Poluta (@CindyPoluta) April 22, 2018
Nice to see the Gals and Ibra getting beating at home by Atlanta! Atlanta United 2, L.A. Galaxy 0: Five observations
Wow that is crazy... hopefully the police are able to ID people from the video and make arrests (Not in the US but the Kaizer Chiefs were named after the NASL Atlanta Chiefs...)
By my count there were 46 goals scored over these 11 games, so that ties the record set last year on decision day...
Week 8's 46 goals in 11 games ties the league record for goals set last year on Decision Day (Oct. 22) Watch all 46 goals from Week 8 of the 2018 season | All Goals Decision Day delivers 46 goals | All Goals, Week 33
I hope all that is tongue in cheek. They have are meeting the requirements to show up to MLS games with a team, but otherwise they are only competing in the CONCACAF Champions League. They'll start playing MLS next week, once CCL is over, and they may well win again based on how well they've played in CCL.
Yeah I know their situation, which makes it all the more alarming. We are just barely outperforming a team that is just "meeting the requirements to show up to MLS games with a team". With 5 of the next 7 on the road, things are likely to get worse before they get better. There's a good chance we will be sitting in Wooden Spoon pole position by the end of that. Still a chance to recover, but not a lot of margin for error. We'd need to go on a run at some point.
