Are we playing 2 or 3 games?

Why do we never play in Colombia? In Wikipedia says we will play in Bogota against Uzbekistan in May 30 haven’t seen any links to this tho.

tho did read we want to play Egypt on June 3rd not the 1st so the game isn’t confirmed it’s not on the FIFA site

Well, it should be three games since Cardona is suspended for 5 matches.
If the Federation does not schedule 3 more then I imagine he would miss the Japan match.

Dude if there's one thing I've learned from wikipedia, it's if it's a friendly before an event like the world cup and it's in Colombia against any nation, chances are is that it's not reliable; I mean, when was the last time we actually had friendlies in South America itself was right before Brazil. Closest friendlies we ever get close to Colombia itself is either in the USA or Asia.

It never makes sense for all of our players to travel to south america when a lot of them are based in Europe. We do have players in south america but more often than not, the country we play against will likely do it in a region like Europe because of travel convenience or the potential in money made.

I am confused as to what happened with Eygpt; nothing has been "canceled" and they seeming are still going to face us on June 1st. The only I ever hear was that we were trying to get them to delay the friendly to a later date. I assumed that this was so that we could face certain other countries as well.

Didn’t we play a game in Barranquilla before the WC?

Also we are the team that wanted to delay the game by 2 days. They said no then I have not heard about this or any other friendly since.

Egypt has arguably a top 10 player in Salah which could be great test for our defense.

But we need at least 2 games before the WC. Hopefully more.

On the players having to fly from Europe to Colombia. That friendly will most likely be with subs or final chances. Can’t see him using Falcao, James, Davison, Ospina in that.

I just said that it was because the world cup was in brazil; hence all the nations were close to south america...

For the world cup, he's likely going to be wanting to use all of the players he can for our final pre-world cup tests.

    Hopefully

    1st string defense + goalie

    Vs 1st string offense

    So
    ————-Ospina——————
    Arias—Mina——Sanchez—Fabra
    ———-C.Sanchez—-Abel——-
    Muriel——Cardona——Izquerido
    ————Borja—-Bacca——-

    Vs
    —————Vargas——————
    Lerma——Zapata—Murillo—Mojica
    ———-Barrios—-Uribe———-
    Cuadrado ——————James
    ———Falcao——Duvan

Solid teams instead of 2nd string v 1st

Also feel 2nd string CMs are actually better of the two.

I want Lerma to get minutes as a DM but not like we called another RB

I like the first line up, but I'm sure both teams will play with 11 players.

Yeah because the world cup was in south america. Perfect chance to get all of our players playing time but we need to be challenged by another nation.

Any news or updates? Egypt still has their friendly with us but is there seriously no decent team we can face around this time?

One friendly is not enough Colombia need to play against the best...

We already played against France. Is it absolutely necessary to play against more top teams?

It would be nice to see another friendly but part of me just wants to have all our players 100% healthy without having to exert themselves anymore. The season has been long for many of our players.

If Pekerman was Osorio or any Colombian coach would this be the same answer

I feel so many of you are so traumatized by Bolillo that Pekerman gets a pass on everything

    1) Yes. I would give the same answer.
    2) I don't see the point of having friendlies against great teams right before the World Cup. Especially when key players are injury prone or coming off long grueling seasons.

    They g
They have got to play against better sides and see if they can use their tactics against the best because if not there is still time to make adjustments.. Otherwise they won't know till it actually happens and that's not being prepared...

I like the 433/4213 with Uribe in front of Barrios and Sanchez pressing because it spaces people out for the Colombians abd puts our players in its best positions..

    http://timpalmerfootball.com/blog/2...-manchester-city-dominate-the-premier-league/

Based on the article it makes sense hiw Pep breaks up the field having that 4231with Uribe in the middle and James and Cuadrado out wide.. Which would look more like a flat 5 at times.. This allows our best players to always be trying to position themselves to be ready to attack as James abd Cuadrado can settle up high and almost create a 433 and Uribe with the job to press and force passes that Barrios and Sánchez can win.. And when they do they'll have a easier pass then usual to make to James or Cuadrado because if Pekerman uses the Pep system or idea to spread the opponent out they'll be wide open..at worst Barrios or Sánchez have to pass it back to Davison or Mina that will be able to find James or Cuadrado or our wing backs...

This system is almost what Colombia already have it's just the key players haven't played it together..

Vs France they almost did this but with James in the middle and Muriel on the left and Uribe on the right.. And let's be honest Cuadrado is better than Uribe and James cannot defend as well as Uribe and he attacks better than Muriel who was on the left... Many times James failed to block the channels and get back in time... But Uribe civering ground and opressing would force thw opponent to play it back or play a forced pass into coverage. With James and Cuadrado wide ready to attack

Over the last couple years we have played top sides. We have played Spain and France. We also have played the usual suspects of Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina.

We do not need to play top sides in friendlies in order to tweak tactics. We need to be healthy as a priority and we need confidence.

    ^^^^this....
Keep in mind our top players ALREADY play in top clubs and deep in Euro/South American cups. This is not pre 90s where our players would be in awe facing a Messi type of player for the 1st time. I want my boys in good health and ready to execute when it matters. So bring on El Salvador for Bogota :)

I want the team to play but yes I understand don’t kill your confidence but that’s our issue against good teams

Too much respect they score some easy goals for them then we have to fight back to try to score

So we play friendlies against crap teams. So wreck them in actual games then lose interest so by the end of games we are praying we don’t blow a 2 to 3 goal lead

Not a Pekerman only problem. Been the case since 2001 when I started watching the team
