The last 5 or so posts have led me to a very important conclusion: we could all use some quality soccer to make us happier about life.
Then wtf is your solution? All you're doing is complaining that people out there are doing something, but it's apparently not enough. Or are we supposed to just ignore everything and let things fall apart?
We need a "Smartass" reaction in addition to the "Rep" button. In that same line of thinking, one of my fellow Rocky Mountain Cup organizers went to get the trophy engraved for 2017 and this happened:
Unfortunately, they aren't doing anything. They are "raising awareness" which does nothing to solve the problem. At the end of the day, the oceans are still polluted, fish are still dying, but everyone pats themselves on the back for "raising awareness". Gawd, why you just go to facebook and click on "Like" all day. That does exactly the same thing.
Yes, because after being made aware, precisely 0 people actually did anything to their habits to help out with any of it. I'd be willing to bet that would be factually false, which means the 'raising awareness' actually did some good. And yeah, from my position there's not a lot I can to help with a lot of that outside of donations. But I can still do things locally to help out the environment here. So yeah, 'raising awareness' does do good, even if you want to complain that it's not enough. But it seems like all you want to do is complain about people trying to do good, yet seem to have no actual solution on offer that would be better. It's sad because it doesn't take massive effort to change aspects of your lifestyle to help out, and enough people doing a little can add up to a lot. But then there are people like yourself that just seem to want to bitch from the sidelines because one person doing a little 'isn't enough' I'll keep doing my thing trying to help what I can. I know by myself it's essentially nothing, but I'm not just going to sit on the sidelines and complain.
1. good to know who we can blame for the 6-0 loss this saturday 2. knowing how up tight a lot of the cRapid guys can be, I'm sure they are freaking out over this 3. ******** 'em
"If RSL decide to play on the front foot here, if they decide to say "hey, we're at home, we're technical, let's use the ball and carry the game" but are as sloppy and inattentive as they've been through the season's first seven weeks, Dominique Badji will repeatedly get into space and roast them." So.... I'm not sure what the alternative is here, then. Is he saying we should sit back like we did against Vancouver and NYRB and hope for either a sloppy pk or lucky deflection? The comments further up are good. I think this is our new tagline: This team looks like it's in preseason.
Industrial and consumer waste for one person - no big deal. For billions - a big deal. Mass behavior drives ecological impact. One at a time we shift. Shift requires change which requires courage will and a vision or goal. Lead follow troll or get out of the way. Gaia will let us help or wipe us out. It’s our decision.
While I don't understand how you could ever complain about initiatives to help save the planet, I do wonder why they don't just make all jerseys out of recycled material.
My daughter's class had one lesson about Reduce Reuse Recycle and she came home asking me what we can do to use less electricity in our house. We turned off extra lights and had a great conversation. Not everyone is old and cynical--young minds are easily influenced and good initiatives are better brain fodder than a lot of other things they're being exposed to.
If MLS was doing this for the entire season, maybe I would take all this "save the planet" stuff seriously. But showing that you love Mother Gaia only one day out of the year reeks of the Facebook Like syndrome.
Starting XI for tonight's match.BREAKDOWN | https://t.co/0UjRMlulZa pic.twitter.com/ZODIuIt7Tg— Real Salt Lake (@realsaltlake) April 22, 2018 Besler gets his first start, the midfield remains unchanged and Petke is forced to play Acosta. I'm sure he asked Craig what the rules are for signing a left back from the crowd before kickoff. This is probably the least hopeful I've ever been for a RMC game and that's just sad when even our neighbors look more competent than us
Don't know why I do this but I've blocked out two hours of watching time this morning, found my stream, and am ready to go. Lineup is full of either major questions or questions that have already been answered in unfortunate ways. Just hoping to not be embarrassed as I've got a last-day-of-spring-break meetup with a group this afternoon that include a number of MLS fans who will be eager to give me a hard time. Worst of all, I seem to be a stuck with a stream with CRapids coverage.
It's hilarious hearing Dunny sh**talk Colorado's results this year like they aren't above us in the standings.
