Per the NYRB-Orlando match, I was disappointed in Tommy Redding's day, to be honest. Kljestan's still one of the best Americans in MLS, more as a testament to his speed of thought than anything.

Is Tommy Thompson injured? Or just not even making the bench these days?

First time really seeing Lima and I really like his play at RB. Solid defensively and has the skill to attack and deliver a good cross in. Yedlin, Moore, Lima, etc. we should be solid at RB for awhile

Could Ema Boateng be a potential national team player? A fast left sided attacker seems like something we don't have much of and he's fairly young.

I only watched El Trafíco, but I felt like this was a disappointing weekend for Americans in MLS.

    Change. My. Mind!

Lleget is not making the hearty runs through midfield he became known for and he looks noticeably less mobile.

I hope that changes as the season progresses.

guess im glad I kept it to just the RBNY-Orlando and LAFC-LA Galaxy games because those were fun as hell to watch. Still liking Miller as a goalkeeping option. He got a good lecture by Zlatan yesterday, but plenty........plenty of other keepers have been given similar lectures. No shame in that.

Their front four are interesting, but their central midfield is strictly built for trench warfare.

So what’s the deal with Jonathan Lewis? He injured or just not “good enough” to dress?

Could be given the Khiry Shelton treatment... The change in teams has been great for Khiry who looks improved by many (0 goals but has 2 assists so far as a starting CF). Viera looks like a good coach but a developing one? Idk. I'd recommend for Lewis to try to find another club.

He came to California from Ghana as a 8th or 9th grader and left for Europe only a few years later. Now having returned, he may be on the path to citizenship but I do not believe he is an American citizen yet and I would guess he has some years to go.

I don't think anyone mentioned Dwyer scoring a brace this weekend too. Finally back from injury i think? Could still get a look for ST on the nats.Ya he isn't Ronaldo obviously, but the guy plays like a pitbull with his work ethic, has pace, and gets goals.

Because of our weakness and thinness at forward, no reasonable option is off the table, I think. I don't rank him highly on the depth chart but Dom's a reasonable option. Ditto CJ Sapong.

Durkin got the start at #6 in a 4-1-4-1 and nothing to suggest that he is at the USMNT level. He needs time to catch up to the speed of play.

Doyle's description of Trapp's play is spot on. " Wil Trapp can not let himself get posted up like that, by the way. He struggled mightily in this one just days after a sterling display for the USMNT in the 1-0 win over Paraguay."

    Delgado was at best OK.

It's a mess with Durkin at DC. We'll need to shelve him til he moves clubs.

I'd like to see Durkin paired with Canouse at DC and concentrate on developing Durkin's passing out of the back. Problem is: Acosta is a jerk. Canouse has been positionaly sound (he's injured). He played a year at Bochum 16/17 season but looked good so far with DC at dmid before he got hurt. He'd be somebody who could tutor Durkin.

I thought the guys who had played Paraguay were all "out of it" with their clubs on the week end.

Pretty close to hitting the Tommy Thompson red alert button. I dont want him to become another Harry Shipp, but he was a healthy scratch. I refuse that he is another Harry Shipp, he is simply too talented to be that. Hes that attacking midfielder that you want that has esquisite ball control and a good pass that can unlock defenses. Sooner Sacramento comes in the league and picks him up in the expansion draft and torments SJE for years to come, the better it is for all.

Austin Trusty and Matt Real both started for the Union over the weekend. Neither was responsible for any of the goals conceded. It was Real's MLS debut. Fontana got about 15 mins of action as a sub.
