Since FCKC folded about four months ago and the Royals started up shortly thereafter, and the 2018 regular season has already started, would it be possible to nix the FCKC forum in favor of one for the Royals?

There's been a reasonably lively Royals discussion going on in a couple of threads over on the RSL board.

Or I guess we can just continue to carry on over there, if that's easier.

    Thanks/cheers!

Same kind of discusssion happened last year with the creation of NC Courage franchise, but then the inertia of this place prevented any possible change of these subforums' structure and Courage-themed threads were simply opened on the general NWSL forum.

I see something very different is happening right now for Utah, though. Threads about the team were somehow subsidized under the RSL board, i.e. out of the women's section. This somehow makes me sad. I just recently learnt that Utah Royals have a solid fan-base, although I was wondering why I was seeing no discussion about them here on the women's boards. Now I know that it's because it was happening on another section.

I said "sad" because I guess it would be easier for all of us to follow these threads if all NWSL-related discussions happened indeed on the NWSL forum. Also, the women's board could use any possible increase of traffic, so it would be very good if a club with a so loud fan-base could transfer here.

Although I know it probably won't happen, both because of the "inertia" I was talking about (it would need someone on these threads willing to say: "Hey, guys, why don't we move the whole thread on the women's boards, here at link xyz?") and because probably Utah Royals and Real Salt Lake fan-base mostly overlap, so the thread as much more visibility as associated with the men's team than here on the women's boards.
It anyway makes me a little sad and I would hope for a change.

    a) I agree there will not be an Utah Royals sub forum created here, base on past efforts to get an Orlando forum. They buried the NC Courage in the old WNY subforum.
    b) as @blissett said, the best way to get a Utah Royals thread visible in the NWSL forum is to start it in the general NWSL forum, like I did for NC Courage 2018.
    c) I checked out the Royals threads in the RSL forum - they seem fairly lively and mostly populated by posters who are RSL fans but not heretofore NWSL fans, except for @BlueCrimson who is catching them up and @BalanceUT who has come over here to post. It is nice to see new fans to the women's game.
d)Due to this RSL 'carryover,' I wouild not recommend pressing hard to bring the Royals discussion to the NWSL forums. They are active there; so its good.
    e) I suggest in some of us go over there and post about the Royals, as the opportunities arise.

It would make sense to at least have a thread in these forums wouldn't it?

Yes: nothing wrong, after all, if there are two different threads dedicated to Utah Royals: whoever is interested could post in either of them (or in both :giggle:), and anyway he would be notified with alerts about ongoing discussions. :)

Not sure who the moderators here are, and if they're willing to create a sub-forum, but a simple thread would be ok, wouldn't it? Actually wasn't there a very short one already, somewhere in NWSL general?

It's nice to see me included in this. As to me being a 'new fan to the women's game', I'm new only to folks posting on the NWSL forum. I've posted off and on over the years on the more general Women's Soccer forums in the USWNT threads. I've been a fan of the USWNT for its entire history. One of the first dates I took my wife on when we were dating was to the USWNT vs Ireland in Salt Lake City in 2003. In fact, that match made my wife a soccer fan. We would watch matches on Saturday or Sunday mornings from Germany and England. Then when Real Salt Lake was announced on the local news (remember watching the local news show?) she said, "You know we are buying season tickets, right?" If we still lived in Salt Lake, we would doubtless have season tix for the Royals.

My wife became a soccer fan too due to watching a USWNT game in Rice Eccles stadium before RSL arrived. Though I now cannot remember who they played. It might have been Ireland, though I feel like their opponents were wearing yellow shirts, so maybe Australia. Anyways, she became interested in my favorite sport from that, and started following RSL just a few years later.

Reviving this... Is it possible to create a Royals subforum and a "Retired Teams" subform and move all the Kansas City posts to that Retired Teams subforum? While a good deal of discussion of Royals happens on RSL forums, the fact is, there will doubtless be some who are only fans of the Royals who would rather not participate on the RSL forum, or even look there.
