Opting to make a new thread for all Cleveland SC-related news

They have just confirmed that they will be playing at 5,400 capacity Don Shula Stadium, on the campus of JCU. Hopefully with a rebrand, some marketing, and promotional work- they would be able to fill it up, or at least half it be 1/2 full. For reference, AFC Cleveland hosted 2,200 for the 2016 NPSL National Championship in Independence.

The schedule for the Midwest Region-East Conference has yet tobe revealed but expectation are for it to start within the first half of May. JCU's exam week ends on 5/11 and I think that making the home opener that weekend would be a no-brainer. JCU averaged 340 in attendance during the 2017 season.

Season tickets for AFC Cleveland in 2016 was $40 or $55 with a 2017 scarf at 25% discount.

I'm pumped for Cleveland soccer, when they can compete with Columbus, Cincinnati, and hopefully someday Toledo for the state championship of OHIO!

From the talk on twitter between the Cleveland SC and FC Columbus accounts this week, it looks like a friendly or something is in the works for the preseason.

Next year maybe regular season games between FC Cincinnati and USL Cleveland team. They need to find some Billionaires to fund the Cleveland Team.

Well it looks like at least 5 teams coming to USL next year- Austin, Memphis, Birmingham, San Diego, and now El Paso. With Chicago and East Bay (SF) in the future. I see Jacksonville reimerging in USL in 2019 and WHY NOT CLEVELAND? USL headed for 48 teams I bet 4 divisions...

The new badge....might be worse than the old crew badge. Holy Jesus.

FC Columbus is just as bad with the “joga bonito” crap. I seriously wonder how anyone can look at those and say “yup that’s great.”

I dont mind it. The construction workers in the Crew badge weren't really relevant to the city really, on top of looking very minor league baseball, in my opinion. The guardian in CSCs badge is a familiar landmark. My only slight criticism might be that it reminds me too much of Detroit Citys badge but it's not really an issue.

The Columbus teams logo just reminds me of NYCFCs badge but with 2016 "For Columbus" jersey colors. I dont hate it or anything and yeah the colors the cities flag but I would've probably left the blue out, personally. The red, white, and yellow are the main colors of the flag.

Even if you hate the logos....at least they're just NPSL teams. They might not even be around 3 years from now. If we were talking about an as of now hypothetical USL team....Id be a little more sensitive and demanding when it comes to the branding since I'll be spending a decent chunk of money on it in merch/apparel most likely.......but well cross that bridge when we get to it.

Question: How is DiSanto Field at Case Western as venue for soccer games? Never been there (out of towner) but it looks aesthetically interesting and intimate with the brick buildings surrounding it. It's a good capacity for a NPSL team starting out and is easy walking distance to food and drink options. Didn't AFC play there at one point?

I played there once against CWRU and i thought it was an amazing place to play. It is surround by dorms/apartments and other buildings. When the stands are even half full it echos throughout the stadium. I was always jealous of CWRU soccer players for that place. Not sure if AFC ever played there.

Cleveland SC to partner with Cleveland Clothing Co. for team apparel/merch. Sounds like a big deal for a small, new team. Hopefully it helps draw more potential fans interested in something "cleveland-centric".

Everything he drew up was amazing! Also the new “badge” as you call it really grew on me.

Will Cleveland have a team starting in 2019 in USL-2 or USL-3. Please don't say NASL or NISA.

There are rumors of a 2019 or 2020 team in USL (I don’t think it’s called USL2 but I’m not sure. Everything I heard was that it would not be in the new USL 3 but i don’t think anyone really knows for sure.

Just rumors at this point. Rumored that the Abrams brothers of Force Sports might be involved.

The division two league is just simply called USL now. Before they were calling it USL Pro.

I think if someone's going to start a professional club in Cleveland, the city and market is absolutely appropriate for D2 USL. They should be playing teams like Cincy, Indy, Pittsburgh and Louisville. The size of city USL D3 is targeting is 100k to 1 mil. Clevelands twice that size.

If Cleveland SC is relatively successful for its level, business wise and popularity wise....it would be plausible that a USL ownership group might acquire their branding and "move them up" so to speak.....similar with what happened to Nashville FC/SC.
