If you're talking about 405, Avalon can be bad but there is never any traffic on Wilmington. It's entirely industrial and office park, so there is never any cars on the road on the weekend. Exiting there has never failed me.
The inaugural home game of USL team Nashville SC drew 18922. It beat the attendance of all US-hosted MLS games on Saturday. The largest attendance of MLS Week 4 is in Vancouver, Canada. 22120 was the announced attendance.
The attendance this week has been really underwhelming. I'm somewhat surprised given the buzz in the preseason. It may just be the cold weather and the relatively slow start that is typical for some clubs. Still, it seems lower even with those circumstances factored in.
I hit the "show hidden content" this time because it was a nonsensical read. Would be much better if everyone had the good sense to put a certain someone on ignore.
the attendance figures were ABYSMAL- 1 weekend of games is not a trend, but it is of concern if it continues- MLS cant rely on atlanta and seattle to prop up the numbers- some markets might never catch fire or even hit the 20 000 level for a year- dallas, colorado, and columbus still are major concerns and show little signs of getting better (although the colorado owner has loosened the purse strings to get some better quality strikers which should help) https://soccerstadiumdigest.com/2017-mls-attendance/ next weekend looks a lot better- curious why the LAG didnt go for a bigger venue for the LA Classico- apparently the StubHub Center is already sold out for the game
Um, what more do you want from Colorado this week? (And its funny that two years after brining in Howard, Gashi, Pappa, Jones, etc. that you think now is the time KSE finally loosened the purse strings...)
Columbus is actively being sabotaged by its owner, it’s not going to get better unless they are sold to a local ownership group.
I think quite a few casual fans from North Jersey who stopped watching the Red Bulls when they left Giant's Stadium, find it easier to nip across the George Washington Bridge to YS than to find their way to Harrison. But I think the fact that NYC, Orlando and Atlanta, even Minnesota, have proven that there is a latent demand for top-flight footy in major cities across the country.
I doubt this. Since when was moving from Giants stadium a jumping off point for RBNY fans? RBA isn't that much farther from Giants Stadium and its quite a ways nicer for soccer. (and its not hard to find) This wasn't like when the Jets moved to Jersey and now the LI fans who were used to going to Flushing now had to go through quite a bit more (Manhattan) to see their team live. RBA is 15-20 minutes from the Meadowlands, YS a full half hour (before parking at either location) the move was negligible at best. Red Bulls attendance has also been consistently higher on average since moving there. There might be a few NJ fans who prefer NYC but I don't think convenience would be the biggest reason.
This is an interesting take. So when you were going to MLS games you were doing it as a US men's national team fan and you would follow it that way I take it? I like when people share their reasons for doing or not doing something because I assume that there are other people who agree. My personal opinion is that attendances are usually lower before Easter and usually take quite the hit on Easter Sunday so be warned about that too.
I just stopped going for a while because the Galaxy product wasn't just bad, but also dadd boring. I'll be returning this season.
My overall enthusiasm for soccer in all forms is way down. And my pride in being an MLS fan had taken a hit given many MLS guys failure to get the job done. I’m generally just disgusted with American soccer. Not an easy time.
The only difference between this cycle for us and Mexico last cycle is that the US had the decency to win their final game and get Mexico in. And Mexican fans still support their league and team.
As in, if Precourt has a fatal heart attack in the morning, the Austin move will die an equally sudden death without his massive ego to drive it and his heirs/estate will want the team sold with as little hassle as possible. Assuming the local consortium is ready to go, getting to the MOU stage of that could be pretty quick. Attendance would spike
The Loons moved their match with Atlanta from Sunday afternoon to Saturday night, likely for that reason...
The only difference that matters is that Mexico qualified and the US did not. Regardless of that I owe no sports league or team a dollar of my money or a minute of my time. I’m a galaxy fan in SF anyways so it’s not like I have a lot of opportunity to attend my teams match.
My excitement towards the US has dwindled for sure I probably won't even watch a match at least until the next qualifying cycle. They used to be my primary focus until Jk came along and ran the program into the ground. This has had no impact on my interest in other segments of the game, which is primarily MLS.
2018 observations -kudos to MNUFC. they've rebounded well in their attendance. what is the reason they have drawn more than 20k to last ~8 matches? -RBNY are playing the best soccer in the league, and they cant get 15k? lol -CLB front office has done a great job to quell marketing and outreach over the last 18 months -will FCD have enough fans to fill the section in front of the hall of fame? -NErevs and NYCFC.... get a damn stadium -ATL, SSFC, PTFC, SKC, thank you -pumped for banc of california opening
We're competitive. Sounds oversimplistic, but the roster kept getting upgraded throughout last year (acquiring Ethan Finlay late, for example) so we're no longer getting blown out at home 6-1.
Jumping back to this, Colorado announced a sellout and the stadium was fuller than I've seen for a league match in a long time (I'm not claiming all 17.4K were in the stadium there was a section or two that was clearly not full). If this is a major concern to you, what's a good number for Colorado? 17.5K with some standing room tickets?
NYRB attendance continues to perplex me. I remember when we used to say that if they won people would show up. Well, they're winning and people still aren't showing up. Maybe I don't put as much stock in MLS Cup as most people? Anyway, they've done everything right except maybe stadium location. I really don't get it.
