a bit unfair on Kim Do-Heon. I remember he was rated quite highly by the wba faithful until injuries marred him from the 1st team i still laugh thinking about cho won-hee at wigan. that shit came and went before I even got the chance to process that we had another kpa in the pl
kim duhyun wasnt a waterboy either. started all of the preseason matches as a starter and had a good debut, but busted his kneecap few matches later. he was never the same after (even after his return to korea) so who knows what could have happened had he not gotten injured
Those are some fighting words bud. Fair point but I'm focusing more on the player's actual contribution to their club. My labeling of him as a Waterboy was just to poke fun but I agree that it is a bit unfair in light of his injury. Point is that you wouldn't necessarily put Ko Jong-Soo in memorable KNT players category simply because of what could've been.
Lets redefine "failure" because Park Ju-young was the best #9 this country has ever had. I would even say the best #9 AFC ever had (although I must assume that Ali Daei would have a fit). And Park is not even a natural #9. So basically, I think everyone needs to calm down, instead of dropping nonsense of how Kim Du-hyeon, a thoroughly mediocre player, was somehow better than Park Ju-young.
Whatever happens to JDW, I'll never forget when I watched him dodge a cross (or perhaps the opposition keeper's fists) on live TV. But a nice goal vs. Man City
jumens prime years lasted exactly 2 and a half years and his contributions to the national team is overstated. he did no more than the strikers from previous generations. asian cup? never even participated, twice he missed out because the consensus was he wasnt good enough for the team. world cup qualifiers? showed up once against uzbeks in his debuting year and silent after that. world cup? recorded a freak goal that bounced off the defender in 2010 and in 2014 was a net minus just by being in the squad if he ever played like he gave a ******** and took his career seriously he could have accomplished more but hes a player whose tail of eulogy comes from a glorified underage tournament. at best hes even with other forwards
Nobody ever said Kim Do Heon > Park Ju Young. We're talking about their impact in the Premier League. There's no doubt that Park JY had absolutely zero and KDH had close to zero. But as someone said, KDH was playing well before he got injured. PJY I would say probably sucked in training thus Wenger decided not to give him minutes. Would a manager waste minutes on a player that he deems as a reserve player? And not like PJY was a young prospect either at that time. In terms of the impact PJY had on our KNT, no doubt he is one of the best #9s we ever had. This was never a debate.
I remember watching that on Live TV when he dodged like a p*ssy. I had never seen that from any footballer, ever. That's when I realized Ji will never be much of a player.
Kang Jung-Ho was an idiot but in terms of being an idiot on the playing field...three things will always stick with my mind: -Mark Sanchez butt fumble (I'm a Jets fan) -Ji Dong-Won p*ssying out on a cross and dodging (I have never seen anything like that, it really tells you what type of person he is) -Leon Lett's fumble in the Superbowl
It's easy. JDW is probably the most polarizing player here in BSK. Some are anti-JDW (me included) because he doesn't score any goals, while others here think JDW is an intelligent and technical player. In American football term, JDW to me is a "tweener" and in NBA term, "positionless". Not a true forward because he doesn't score goals. He might be relatively tall, but he's not someone who will win tons of headers for a guy his size. He certainly doesn't score many goals and this includes goals from headers. He doesn't have the pace to be a winger nor do I think he's much of a crosser. Doesn't have the ability to score from long-range (his only long range goal I can think of is U-23 Olympic against Brazil (?)). He doesn't have the killer dribbling ability or persistency you want in a CAM. Can't be a CM when his passing isn't that much more superior than other CMs we have. He doesn't bring much to the table. And he doesn't score goals. So yeah, he's a failure imo.
He led the Bundesliga for large portions of last year. He does everything a CF or 2nd Forward does at a high level besides score. If you rate CFs only by goals, he's terrible recently but again, his scoring rate has been good at times. If you rate CFs by how they bring other attackers into the game, he's great.
Sorry guys. I didn't phrase my question correctly. I've been searching for footage of Ji Dong Won dodging that header since it happened but I have never seen it or been able to find it. I want to see how pathetic it really was. If somebody can help me find this footage it would be great
We can have this argument all we want, but it's super telling that a bottom tier Bundesliga 1 club loaned him out to the second division. To me, that's more than enough to tell you what he really is as a player.
