another Schroeder interview, nothing too deep, just shocked that he thinks the current Swiss coach, Von-Tecklenberg is right for the job. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...el_schroeder_der-dfb-hatte-keinen-plan-b.html I scraunched up some highlights of her Swiss team in action vs England from last year. Despite some capable players in the back; Abbe, Kiwic, Maritz, & Waiti at DM, her defense was in shambles. Her play from the back recipe is a disaster right now at current woso trends. Too bad Sampson can't get hired cause his high press & quick offense is what Germany needs
''this is terrible news, she was Germany's best player at SBC, but didn't play vs France nor the Cup match for Potsdam. Is it an ACL? PS she was ready to came the big bucks as some of those rich English clubs were interested in her
*sighs* Tabi’s one of those that Germany needs in the midfield and yes one of the few players on the NT i’ve thought performing good
Although I am not a Germany's fan in particular, it's always sad when a good player has to sit out for a long injury. Best wishes to Kemme. Any early speech from interim coach Hrubesch? Ok, he's not supposed to stay, but I guess he could have had something to say about the team anyway.
she's a good dribble & exceptional shot taker, but a bit slower if coming down the right side where you got Huth or Laudehr. I hope the new coach will play more friendlies & start a B team as well(where Rolser would fit right in). take a look at the lineup formation of the very last game that Jones will ever coach. everybody was out of their natural positions https://us.women.soccerway.com/matches/2018/03/07/world/shebelieves-cup/france/germany/2705241/
What strikes me the most is the fact that when you want to play the game that Steffi wanted to (combine your way to goal and score), you need CB's able to hold a high line and FB's who knows when to defend and when to go forward which makes me wonder why she thought about Blässe, Peter, Henning, and Kerschowski for that job...? Yes Steffi had plenty of flaws, this however is the biggest one for me... and such a fundamental one! Whether Germany will be good enough to win the WC 2019, I don't know... what do you guys think?
With Neid and Ballweg still around, the senior team are in real danger of not even making the 2019 WC lol. But.... if the U-20's go to another WC finals, and at worst manage to reach the semi's, the DFB should force Meinert to finally take part in rebuilding process of the senior team; this potentially being a way to use the mind of Meinert, without having her leave her comfort zone of running the U-19/20's. Germany will need to first qualify for the WC way before anybody even mention the idea of then being credible enough to win it again lol.
Was that really all down to Jones decision making though...? I'm 90% sure Jones was also taking poor outside advice on who should be starting for that epic fail of a Euro's tournament. See, it didn't matter how bad certain players looked, it was as if it was already long decided they would start; and who does that for a international team lacking any identity after 20+ matches..? This whole Jones situation always felt rather contrived to me anyway, and probably began to showcase reasons for suspicion after Katja Greulich decided her accepting the head coaching role at Jena, a far better choice for a promising female coach than staying within the senior wnt program lol.
Jones the coach, she makes the decision with her coaching staff, period. The mess she made was nothing but her own fault. How much influence do you mean that Neid has on the GER woso team as a scout for trends innerhalb women's soccer...?
I watched first half again, I don't understand what Demann and Hendrich did wrong to make Steffi go with Peter and Henning the next games again...? No literally, that Steffi lost her job is her own fault, not Neid or Ballweg's lol. Hendrich and Demann nullified Holland's attack with plenty of strong players... seriously, if this didn't justify them a secure spot in Steffi's team, what would? I'm pretty confident when I'm saying that Steffi never had any intentions to start anyone but Peter and Henning no matter the performance from Hendrich and Demann See, Steffi actually started with Peter and Henning the first games in the Euro's lol
LOL... Do you honestly believe in the validity of this nonsensical "scout" position she's clearly created for herself to oversee the senior wnt...? Are people really that naive, they'd want to believe Silvia Neid is now a genuine scout for the senior team, placed in a key role to run important reconnaissance on various future opponents... lol You think a lone scout, and the current U-15 coach, are both allowed to become integral parts of the future sculpting of this program, because they don't already maintain positions of influence within the women's program...? Yeah, because seeing Steffi Jones sat on the bench for Neid's and Ballweg's last two tournaments with the wnt, had ZERO correlation with the teams continued issues of tactical regression lol.
The real question your still not willing to ask here, is why was Jones ever allowed to be in the position of wnt head coach...? The easy option will always be to pretend this was a simple aberration instantly fixed with the dismissal of one person; this being the easy target of a novice Jones. But the more honest reality is that the wnt actually saw the start of indefensible underachievement become the norm through the Neid era, with the various poor decisions made by Neid back then, only remaining the same obvious negative factors up until right now, Ballweg shouldn't be the person running the new U-15 team, Bernhard hasn't proven herself a credible U-17 coach, a tactically limited Neid having any influence towards the future senior wnt's identity is stupid, and a Steffi Jones can't be the solitary sacrifice that allows everything to remain the same under Hannelore Ratzeburg's still invisible leadership.
It was mentioned before: DFB didnt and has no plan for the women's team. No need to stretch this into endless WOTs
this just reminds me on how much the Dutch have shot upwards since then, as well as how Jones regressed. The one question on Jones retrospective is this; when she finally found out a formula that worked(vs in the Nov, French friendly) keeping all her starters st bay, in there natural positions, like for instance, Popp, proved to be so dangerous as lone striker, hanging out around the penalty area. Maro got several accurate passes in from her her DM spot, Dallmann was credited with no less than 8 tackles from her AM So what on earth did compel Jones to switch tactics for SBC where her players were constantly switched in & out of their natural positions? btw.......the new coach got to look & wonder why so many of the Bundi's best players(Magull, Dallmann, Islacker, Elsig, eccedra)haven't translated to success at the NT level? If I was him, I would definitely send Babette shlecht, lil Leo & JoJo to 'sprint' boot camp, lol
LOL, I remember watching that game just shaking my head at how ridiculous it all seemed. Jones didn't stumble into discovering some hidden formula for success, and her team didn't showcase a performance that fooled anybody paying real attention. All that game managed to accomplish was highlight how slow and indecisive the DFB's decision making had been in all of this mess.
I think Dallmann's simply another name who's struggled to produce anything positive within this poorly managed international team. But, Magull's previously wasted years at Wolfsburg, finding herself also having to compete with an in form Marozsan, Däbritz, for a potential starting AM role within a team no longer competent in correctly utilizing the positive attributes of their various AM's. Elsig's one of the better names from a new generation of potential international CB options... and when was the last time we've seen any impressive league based CB options allowed to develop within the senior team...? Leaving you with Islacker's all round game as a forward being good, but simply not good enough to be considered within the elite of the international scene. So I don't think it's really been that strange not to have any of these particular names fail to translate their league form to national team success.
Yeah, I would love to get an answer from DFB behind the disaster of a choice to hire Steffi - a woman with no coaching experience lol. I honestly believe Marozsan should play AM no matter what considering what she can do when a coach play her right. Dallmann and Magull are fine options, but I don't really imagine where else they'll play within the NT beside the AM spot...? Considering that their skills are going forward, I don't think they'll be very useful as CMs either lol. Leo and Jojo have never been very fast players, but possess other attributes that should make them start every NT game under a decent coach. Seriously, Leo looked great under Neid and sometimes great under Jones, but doesn't surprise me that she's unsure of her position within the NT when it's clear that Steffi wants to start Anna Blässe instead of her lol. Anna Blässe can't get past players without watching the ball all the time, no wonder why she doesn't produce any single good balls to the box. Even sending Babett Schlecht to a sprint boot camp won't improve much I'm afraid. She's just straight forward a bad player who doesn't possess anything a CB needs today. I don't know how many goals she's conceded during the Jones era...? Never seen a game from her where I've thought she's decent the couple of last years Anyway Dallmann's sometimes looked great under Jones, and has together with Hendrich been two of the best players under Jones. Considering that Germany have defensive players as Maier, Elsig, Demann, Hendrich, Simon, Faisst... everyone with experience within the NT now and are very good players, Germany don't have to struggle defensively lol
I think it was a combination of long standing DFB apathy, and wnt leadership hubris. The past saw novice coaches come in, take over the coaching of very strong groups of players, maintaining the DFB's tradition for tournament level success. But the Olympic gold medal success (current wnt program leadership hubris) really blinded people from the truth of this team needing a major overhaul (more DFB apathy).
