LP extended till 2020. He seems like a nice guy and he was great for us at his best. In my opinion, for maybe around 2 years, he was one of the best RBs before his severe injury. He's probably still our best RB but his best times with constant performances are sadly gone. Personally, I'm not sad he'll retire here but even looking at midtable BL teams, there seem to be better FB options available.

Not much competition. I think he has not been good. I don't think it is a physical limitation, but he is a little reckless going forward relative to the upside he provides and he zones out/ball watches on defense. There really isn't much depth at back if DAZ and Toljan don't work out, so I guess it is better than losing him without a replacement lined up.

Totally disagree.... we are an entirely different team with him in the starting 11. Is he the same player as was in 2012, no. Is he still a very important player, yes.

I don't so much mind Pisczek staying, I think he deserves to retire here ... so long as a first choice RB is brought in ... Toljan has not inspired confidence, and unless he can turn things around drastically before season end, he should be sold.

How much would you pay for Michy assuming Cjelsea allow him to leave ? The quoted Bild figure of 60 mil euros seems cheap. Maybe 80 ?

It's a good re-signing for Dortmund if LP is eventually phased out to depth and a good young right back is brought in over the summer.

I bet Chelsea already have a range in place that they've communicated to BVB. Bild journalists say that Reus wants the club to buy him. Frankly, he's right. Not only is Michy talented but he's a BVB fan. We want more players like LP joining us except with more talent and less injury woes.

I don't see any harm in resigning LP. We don't have a replacement. He's loyal. Doesn't cost a lot. And he has performed better than Toljan.

Maybe watching Nzonzi? Would be a great addition imo, experienced, physically strong but also has good technical ability. Exactly the kind of attributes that would benefit the current team and push Castro further down the pecking order.

I have been watching Nzonzi for awhile now. He's slow as hell. How would he ever cope with the BL speed? Other than that he's pretty good at creating space, positioning, winning the ball. And his passing range is not bad.

I'm guessing its a verbal agreement between Nagelsmann and the BVB FO. Meaningless if Hoffenheim does not agree to let him terminate his contract early, but a good sign that he could be coaching you guys next season.

It might just be Favre ... I wouldn't mind either. Or perhaps Stoeger comes good after all ...

This summer will be interesting. Sign a RB, a DM, and Michy, ... and perhaps send Sancho on loan, the club is overly stacked in the winger department, and he is still too raw

I think sixty is a bargain. He has upside, looks to be a good fit for BVB, and is a fine player even if he doesn't get better with time. Will BVB pay wages close enough that starting CL football can swing the deal in BVB's favor?

With Chelsea out of the CL and likely missing next years' edition of the tournament, signing Michy becomes absolutely mandatory. Think Chelsea will ask for somewhere around 60M which if totally fine, since we have the money and moreover - we have a dire need for him. We can provide CL football, he has blended in well with the squad, the fans like him, Reus (one of the leaders of this team) wants him here permanently. We have quite a lot of leverages, I just hope we use them.

Kicker says Stöger might not want to stay because a lot of people have already established a negative perception about him.

He's right. And that's partly unfair since he only came in a few months ago. Hardly had time to gel with the squad. Had to deal with injuries. Didn't get to establish his strategy.

However, when he plays Castro, Toprak and Schurrle so goddamn often he's not going to win any favours. He's coaching at the top level in the world. He's got a squad of experienced players and talented youngsters and cannot establish a whiff of offensive structure.

He's a nice guy and isn't bad professionally. But he's just not good enough for our level. Valvedere is doing really well at Barca. Of course I don't expect the same with our squad but we are punching under our weight, well under.

Stöger may well be a nice guy, however he had an easy job in some respects in that he replaced Bosz, who was an utter disaster, and so could only really improve the team.

Results have been better, to a point, however in his 16 games in charge there have been very few, if any, good performances, and the team has played an ugly brand of football. This is not helped by Stöger's seeming insistence on fielding as many mediocre players as possible.

There is still a lot of talent in this squad, and most of it is being wasted. To properly utilise it, it is clear that Dortmund needs an elite coach. Stöger is not in that category. So he needs to be replaced this summer. Otherwise the club will continue to decline, and competing for trophies will become virtually impossible.

Maybe it was an easy job in theory regarding the available talent but when he took over, the team's confidence was gone and it still hasn't returned completely. Especially in the first games against Mainz and Hoffenheim, you could feel that insecurity and the fear to make mistakes on the pitch.

I also question the narrative that Stöger prefers to play an "ugly"/conservative brand of football by design. I think there are several aspects that are an obstacle to a more attractive kind of football that don't have much to do with the formation or an offensive/defensive attitude. The chemistry between the players of the offense is actually really good and they can combine well together. The problems can be found in the other parts of the team and we haven't made sufficient adjustments to deal with these shortcomings yet. Our CBs aren't as good at getting the ball forward. We are only seeing a fraction of the kind of passes that Hummels did to find players between the lines. This is were the midfielders need to step up. Secondly, a fb who is more press resistent and dynamic would help our offensive game as well. And finally, a midfield that works would change so much. I don't know if there were any games were both Weigl and Dahoud performed according to their potential together. It always seems as if one of them is a mess when the other one performs well.

To make way for new signings, there are a lot of deadwood players that need to go.

I wonder how easy it will be to shift all of them out this summer though? There are a lot to shift. Will any other clubs seriously want to buy any of them?

Kicker is reporting that Hummels might leave if TT is signed as the new Bayern coach. BVB want him back.

Lautaro Martinez is touted as a replacement for Michy since Chelsea don't want to sell. RB search continues. Toljan isn't convincing.

I'm wondering why Michy hasn't forced the issue here.

I suspect either $$ or Conte's likely departure or maybe some of both. He is a very good ft for Dortmund.

He's a BVB fan. Also from the looks of it Chelsea won't be in the CL next season. Why would he want to play second fiddle to Morata? Hazard is also leaving.

And our salary budget is likely to grow next season again. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense for him to return.

Chelsea can be persuaded and he'll want to come. The management just need to pay the money Chelsea want, rather then trying to be tight as usual. He has proven to be a good fit, any other big money striker might be another Immobile.

Anyway why not sign both Martinez and Michy? That would give the striker position more quality options. Ditch Schürrle and loan out Isak.

This, along with Hummels, a rb, at least one cm/dcm and most importantly a new coach, and things will look brighter.

    http://www.dw.com/en/thomas-tuchel-bus-bombing-contributed-to-borussia-dortmund-departure/a-43039051

Thomas Tuchel at the hearing: "Aki (Borussia Dortmund chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke) has already said publicly that there was a major discrepancy," Tuchel said. "This is true. The essence of the discrepancy is that I was sitting on the bus and Aki wasn't. That's why there was a major discrepancy about how to go about things – without wanting to hold it against Aki."

Aki needs to just GTFO of the club.

While my dislike for Tuchel is well-known around these boards the bus attack is the only point in which I fully support him.
