Maybe. I like his game but he does have some very large holes in it. He is not fast, or strong or even tall, his game is based on trickery that buys him space and time. He does possess a strong shot, his ace-in-the-hole is that he is very smart.
On our bench we have: Drobny, Bauer, Jóhannsson, Rashica, Langkamp, Belfodil and Friedl 👍— SV Werder Bremen EN (@werderbremen_en) March 12, 2018
It's an important game for Bremen because a win against last place Koln tonite will give them a 5 point cushion over relegation with all teams having played 26. Bremen up 1-0. I won't start a pbp for this since AronJo is on bench. If Koln lose this one... well. Not even a dead cat bounce.
AronJo much more a traditional poacher than Demps - not that there's not overlap, but Aron much less likely to try/hit the floating chip to the far corner that could be a cross, could be a shot. More likely to be in the scrum at the six and somehow end up with the ball at his foot to spank past the keeper 3 inches away. Both wiley, just in slightly different ways. Feel like they would have played well together if they'd had more consistent time.
He scored with AZ doing just that a few times. In the Netherlands he showed very good accuracy from the edge of the box. So I think against not-too-strong rivals, he's our guy who can score from some distance. The big issue being, of course, his health.
Sure. It's not like he can't, obviously. But a big number of his goals are inside the 8 yard, often toe-poke, clean-up, rebound stuff. I like him, and am not trying to take anything away, but he rarely hits the far-post floating chip and his attack, even when it involves moves, tends to be based more on foot speed. Not as much of the scoop move, try-shit style. But I got nothing against AronJo and if healthy he's in the conversation (if there is a conversation) for the next couple of years.
I think it's probably been said already in this thread, but I'll say it again; he can be an upgraded Wondolowski, technically at least.
The subs were all defensive. WB was in control on a nasty, wet, surface. I thought he might come on after Koln equalized, but the response was pretty quick, and after that it was pointless.
I agree with you. So, for him to get a chance, the team would either be losing or tied late in a game.
yeah, if he starts on the bench. But that is the case for all attacking subs, it's nothing against him.

Gets a late cameo in a 1-3 win: What a performance this man has had 👏 He gets replaced for the last few minutes by @aronjo20 🔄 Bring it home, Aron! // (89') #fcasvw #werder 1-3 pic.twitter.com/3IXdEU8Iyf— SV Werder Bremen EN (@werderbremen_en) March 17, 2018
Feels like they’re pretty much out of relegation risk now. Sargent likely has the chance to prove himself for first team minutes in BL1 next season.
