Sure. Its hard. The "wait for year 2" people especially cracked me up. After averaging 48k you would think they would give up.
They had the temporary additional 3,000 seats installed at the top of the 300-level. They usually do it for big events - like college football playoffs, Chik Fil A kickoff, Atl Utd Games, Super bowls...
To answer my own question re: Mercedes-Benz stadium attendance - SEC Championship game had 76,534 National Championship had 77,430 Chic Fil-A Kick off game had 76,330
College sports - That bastion of sportsmanship where power teams can't even be bothered to play balanced home-and-away schedules. Florida has played, what, 1 non-conference road game outside of Florida since the mid 90's. *Tries to picture setting where Man U and the New England Patriots got to play more home games than road games*
They cannot match that for a soccer game because of all 4 corners rolling back for the larger field. That cuts out a couple thousand as far as I know.
Forgive me if this info has already been posted: Week 1: 237,305 total / 10 games = 23,730 average Week 2: 215,880 total / 9 games = 23,986 average (Atlanta game was 33% of whole week!!!) Season: 453,185 total / 19 games = 23,851 average
Florida always plays FSU and occasionally Miami. Why would you leave the state to play any other teams? While they typically play one patsy early and one late in the season, their conference schedule plus FSU was nearly always one of the toughest in the country. This past season they even opened the season against Michigan in Texas. To sum up, why pick on Florida’s schedule? On topic, Atlanta is now opening up the full stadium for the Oct. 21 game.
Because, like most of the SEC, it takes a minor miracle to get them to play a game outside of SEC country? Got to love the kickoff game next season, a "neutral site" game between Auburn and Washington...in Atlanta. Yeah, how "neutral" is that crowd going to be? If both teams left their schools at the same time Auburn will have driven to the stadium and be in the locker room before Washington gets cleared by the TSA at Sea-Tac.
Hi, I see you're new to midweek games in an obscure tournament in the cold in the northeast that aren't included in season ticket packages.
And who is the smart ass who decided not to let season ticket holders attend this game for free. Ugh, why did THIS team have to win :-(
The CCL on a weekday is a game I will pass on if NYCFC ever has the misfortune of being stuck with that schedule congestion.
On a Quarterfinal? The tournament is "obscure" because of marketing, Quality and a Lot of other things, But Also because the fans don't care either.
Y'all missing out. I loved every single one of the foreign games we hosted, whether it was Champions Cup, SuperLiga or CCL. Those were some fun times and I can't wait for us to get back one day. But I'm a weirdo so there it is.
Without turning this into BigCollegeFootball, yeah, we kind of did thanks to the media bias towards the SEC and the East Coast in general.
