Capelli Sport Stadium to host @USL matches in 2018. Toronto FC II will serve as hosts for the four contests, which will see the Pittsburgh Riverhounds visit on May 5th, Indy Eleven on June 16th, Nashville SC on July 28th, Bethlehem Steel FC on August 16th. “We are ecstatic that there will continue to be professional soccer in Rochester during the 2018 USL season,” said Rochester Rhinos Co-Owner David Dworkin. “Toronto FC is one of the highest-regarded clubs in North America and we are proud to partner with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and host such a successful organization.” “Rochester is a city with great soccer history,” said Toronto FC President Bill Manning. “We are happy that we can give the fans four USL games to attend this season as the Rhinos prepare for their return to action in 2019.” Read Here: http://www.rhinossoccer.com/news_article/show/880172?referrer_id=2439299
Rochester Lancers and Lady Lancers to play at Capelli Sport Stadium (Rochester NY) - The Rochester Lancers and Lady Lancers will play their 2018 home matches at Capelli Sport Stadium, bringing more soccer to the downtown Rochester this season. The Lancers partcipate in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) and the Lady Lancers partcipate in the United Women's Soccer (UWS). The Lancers and Lady Lancers home matches will be announced soon. https://mailchi.mp/rhinossoccer/add...port-stadium-2018-schedule?platform=hootsuite

So here is where the eviction of the Rhinos from Capelli Sports Stadium stands as of 28 Feb. Today was to be the date the club was to be out of the stadium. That date has been extended until 12 March. So it appears that the city still wants the club out. The Lancers and Lady Lancers of the NPSL and the UWS are scheduled to play in the stadium the summer as well as 4 USL TFCII games.
https://www.frontrowsoccer.com/2018...ancers-lady-lancers-announce-7-dates-capelli/ Lancers and Lady Lancers know when they will be playing at home this year. They announced seven dates they will be played at Capelli Sport Stadium. That will include four doubleheaders between the NPSL (Lancers) and United Women’s Soccer (Lady Lancers) sides. The season opener, which will be a doubleheader is scheduled for May 27. The home dates: Sunday, May 27 Sunday, June 3 Friday, June 15 Sunday, June 17 Friday, June 29 Saturday, June 30 Saturday, July 7
So the city of Rochester has announced that they are no longer actively trying to evict the Rhinos. They say that the matches that will be played in Capelli Sports Stadium meet the requirements of the lease. I am not sure if this is the USL matches, or the Lancers/Lady Lancer matches. So for the time being, the Rhinos will still have a home in 2019.
as noted above...City backs off on eviction: https://www.democratandchronicle.co...-talks-backs-off-evicting-operator/417845002/
well the worst case scenario is the Dworkin Family runs for the hills and the Rhinos cease all operations...in the end you are still left with a NSPL club...things could always be worse.
Sad that there is more in the local news about the potential demise of the club than actual match reports ... Day 1 with the judge actually provided for some possible hope for Rhino fans. See here. One very interesting tidbit: "But then, we said let's come and sit down at the table and talk about this. Okay, we (asked) are you going to have a team next year [2019] ? They [Dworkin] said, 'we don't know.' I can't operate on that. I don't believe that our citizens can operate on that,” said the mayor. This is the first time that the actual demise of the club has been spoken of publicly.

Any idea what it possibly means that the city "subsidizes" the stadium for roughly $600,000 a year? Edit: From earlier article: "For the past several years, the city has paid about $650,000 annually for utilities and maintenance on the stadium and team offices for the Rhinos."
The initial plan to have a roster by 1 Sept would have been almost impossible. I also look at the minimum number of games. That means that whatever league USL of D3, they will need lots of home dates. Essentially, no PDL or NPSL.
Key points of deal: - Sept. 1 2018 the USL must certify that the Rhinos will play in 2019 - Minimum of 15 home dates - If things are not in place, winter to create a new deal Dworkin - "If this mobilizes everyone to get behind us, then that’s great. Unfortunately, we are not going to know until we get closer (to the deadline). But we are still committed to the same thing: to keep the Rhinos here."
The Rochester Rhinos and Capelli Sport Stadium are happy to announce the official partnership with NY's 529 College Savings Program. Read more here: http://ow.ly/19jL30jipzU
"Rex the Rhino will be wearing NY’s 529 College Savings Program logo on his jersey in 2018." so hold on...let me get this straight...the team is on hiatus for 2018...but they managed to secure a jersey sponsorship FOR THEIR MASCOT???
Marina Auto Stadium again, no more Capelli Sports Stadium. Also a good article about the River Dogz. As it is USSoccer it glosses over some of the lesser moments.
It has been very quiet with regards to the actual future of the team. My bet, if they come back, it will be a USL 2 team. Overall team budgets will be less and closer to what the Rhinos had been using in the recent past.

Lancer season done, biggest event was Doug Miller scoring at the stadium built. No word yet about next season. If they come back, I am betting lower down.
