Ives has been around awhile, but his “analysis” has typically been pretty weak historically, imo. The Dortmund statement about Reyna was the only tangible thing in that article. Stating “player x looked good and needs to find a good environment to hone his skills” is a bunch of meaningless crap that us big soccer posters can throw online ourselves
People will make a very big deal about the Tim Tillman news, and I think its notable. Adding any decent young player to our system can't hurt, but I think the bigger news with that could be that potentially the program could add Malik Tillman sooner than they thought. Malik Tillman can't be provisionally cap-tied to Germany for another another year, unless he plays for the age group older than his, which is probably very unlikely for a player his age in the German program. So the USA probably has a year (if he remains a top level talent) to get him playing for the USA. And if they can, he could be a big help for the U-17 WC for this side. He currently plays as a CM, and this team really needs CM help. If this team could potentially add Tillman, Letayf, Nyeman and Killeen by the U-17 WC, I think this team could have an okay midfield at that tournament, to go along with a defensive midfielder like Atencio. It definitely seems like the CM is going to be the part of the field where we see the most roster turnover.
Early projection for qualifying. GK: Las, Wilson DF: Scally, Alejandre, Judge, Bello, Nielsen, Greene, Mathews MF: Letayf, Atencio, Nyeman, Guske, Fuentes, Redzic, Reyna, Pynadath FW: Ocampo-Chavez, Busio, Pepi I won't add Tillman and Alvarez because they more recently played for other YNT's. Is this team going to play in any tournaments? Last cycle it seems like the U-17's played in way more tournaments. Many of these players are still playing at the U-17 and U-19 academy level. I think playing international games is more beneficial to them than DA games. The problem is being away from their club team towards the end of the cycle, but a few months in, the U-17's should be playing tons of games, IMO.
Are you sure the last u17 team played that many more this early in the cycle? I know they played a lot the year and a half leading up to the World Cup, but part of me remembers them playing less right after the cycle started
There was a January tournament, a March one, matches in April, a May tournament. https://www.ussoccer.com/us-under17-mens-national-team/results-statistics
Van Den Bergh Calls 24 Players to Chula Vista Training Center for U-15 BNT Camp - U.S. Soccer U.S. Under-17 Boys’ National Team head coach Dave van den Bergh ?
For academy kids I am not sure I would worry about pulling them away from their teams. That also provides opportunity for other academy kids filling in. Sometimes sending a kid up an age group to see how they do. If any call ups were getting regular minutes with an actual usl team however...
Roster: https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...-at-chula-vista-elite-athlete-training-center The release says that Cervantes is the only newbie. Barragan is back in camp with the US. Several domestic pros are staying with their clubs for this one (Bello, Busio). No Euro-based players.
Camp ended w/ the U17s posting 3 wins, 1-0 (Lopez), 1-0 (Serrano) and a 3-0 victory (don't know who goalscorers were)
Andre Costa of Real Madrid should get a call up. He scored again this weekend. He's a CM, and this team needs help in CM.
Don’t know anything about it but it looks like he got a u15 call up which is seemingly a good sign. https://www.socceramerica.com/publi...ames-two-us-products-to-its-u-17-world-c.html
Sometimes non-citizens are called up to those teams. I don't know if he's a citizen or not, but if he is, its an easy call for him as the starting #6 for the U-17's this cycle. I don't suspect Hackworth is that dumb to not even call him up yet. I think he's probably not eligible yet. Maybe he's in the process of getting citizenship. He's the standout player on a FCD U-17 team that has Sealy, Pepi, Toledo, Burns, Hinajosa, Redzic, Wilson, etc.
