As loco stated population density has very little to do with it. We are a footballing nation and it is a part of our upbringing, society and perhaps even in our psyche. There will be four Argentine coaches at the World Cup. Two of the best young coaches in Europe are Argentine, Cholo and Poch. You also have a young manager in Gallardo who has won everything with River. When Guardiola was about to start his coaching career he went and discussed footballing philosophy with El Loco. So, I believe it starts from an early age and how a young player is developed by the people around him. As I said, football is a big part of our culture and so more times than not a young player will get the proper guidance. We also have good scouts who have a good eye on talent. So, yes, there are a number of factors but culture, good managers/coaches/scouts, inherently talented players are all the key factors that produce good players.
Messi hasnt score in 4-5 matches and then scored away goal against Chelsea. This why I never worried even if he aint scoring in few games. He hasnt score in few games too before his hattrick againts Ecuador. He hit the woodwork 16 times this season , so far.
I pray that we win the World Cup for us, obviously — but also for Messi to put the GOAT debate to rest once and for all.
Sure but then you can say Mexico is also a footballing nation where it’s a strong part of the culture. From what you’re saying then, it comes down to better mangers and scouts. That’s a good point - you don’t see any Mexican managers having successful careers in Europe. The reason I’m asking for an outside perspective is because the US started this development academy system a few years ago. If you look at these youth teams in the DA system, they are just loading their teams with Mexican players. I think this is a mistake based on past history. We should be looking for the Argentinan American kids
Other than Brazil, Argentina is better than anyone else at developing great talents. They are the only two nations to have more than one generational player since the widespread of football. 20s: Hector Scarone (Uruguay) 30s: Giuseppe Meazza (Italy) 40s: Jose Manuel Moreno (Argentina) 50s: Alfredo DiStefano (Argentina) 60s: Pele (Brazil) 70s: Johan Cruyff (Netherlands) 80s: Diego Maradona (Argentina) 90s: Ronaldo (Brazil) 00s: Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) 10s: Lionel Messi (Argentina) The footballing culture of Argentina that emphasizes the masterful wizard touch is key for such a tradition of great individual talents. In terms of developing American talent in soccer, a good idea would be to send these youngsters to train for a couple of years at the academies of River Plate, Racing, Argentinos Jr, Newell's, etc.
I saw highlights of FCB and Messi didn't look tired. He looked very lively. So, as I stated before, if he goes quiet for a couple games in a row people say he was burned out. I think he is just pacing himself. He knows, or at least he should know what is on the line in a few months time. Kun is also in good form, scored a wonderful goal today in one of those English Cup finals. Otamendi also put on a strong performance. Chucky with two more goals today. He really is on fire. He could've had a hat-trick.
Chucky has been scoring all the time this season just like Messi & Kun. Messi certainly reserve his energy in certain games, like those few league games before Chelsea match. Barca is in good position right now, one foot in CL quarterfinal, in CDR final and lead the league by good margin, its good time for Messi to reserve is energy every once in a while. Paulinho also hasnt run much and rarely use his physical strength in last 4-5 matches , certainly saving his strength for the WC. Our players should does the same.
It seems like Maxi Meza will definitely make Sampa’s March squad. Not a bad pickup from the premiere league and could serve a crucial function for this team.
Based on recent form, I wonder if Chucky will somehow snatch a WC spot. I'd love to see Dybala and Icardi at WC, but there's nothing you can do if Sampa decided to left them out. Pipita will probably gets another call up despite throwing Argentina 3 major thropies into the sea. His consistency at league football will get him a WC spot again and again. I know only Aguero and Messi are guarenteed at this point, but it seems that Pipita will make it again.
0 chance. The strikers will be Agüero, Higuain (both 100% sure) and maybe there won't be a 3rd one, but if there is, it will be Lautaro Martínez. Icardi is also out,, most likely. Unless he comes back to play right now and starts scoring every single weekend.
He looked a disaster vs Atletico recently, and also Valencia, Spartak and the 5-0 loss vs Real Madrid.
Yes, but I mean the forwards. We usually bring 6, sometimes 5 . Only Messi & Aguero are a lock. However , Sampa has given indication that he will bring Pipita so I think he will also be there, but this time Kun will start , based on recent games where he scored twice in 135 minutes. The other spots are still pretty much open, so I will not write out Icardi & Dybala completely. At least one of them can still make it.
Masche also moved there but Sampa said ye'd still be at WC , in Gaitan case though, its probably the end.
He was easily the 2nd best player of Argentina during the qualifiers though. His team (as a whole) is playing bad right now, but he gives 100% with the NT shirt on.
