I don't doubt that Tijuana offered him more money (and probably flexibility) but LOL at idea of MLS "lowballing" a guy who just washed out of Norway.
I wasn't even counting that. But the injury was a while ago and he's had two other shots since then, one of which was in a league generally considered to be worse than MLS. I'm not giving up on Rubio as a player but his leverage is pretty weak.
He needs to find a position to excel at. Utrecht never knew where to play him and he just hasn't developed a positional specialty. Being just an generic attacker isn't going to do it. Edit: On the plus side, I'm optimistic because Corona made it work as an in-between player in LigaMX
More power to the guy, getting paid for staying in really good shape and not having to do some 9-5 job. Pretty sweet gig if you can get.
Bornstein has 81 LMX appearances in the three calendar years since joining Querétaro. He's mostly been a regular starter since making that move.
I'm all for puns but what if the guy visits his thread here (been known to happen) and sees his name being abused...uh...handled...********!...whatevered in this this indelicate manner? Are we worried about that?
Yeah, that's a good point. I'll leave it up to you, fearless leader. I liked the "Amerijuana" one too, FWIW.
Could do: Rubin won out in Tijuana: Rubio at Xolos (and let the double entendre be our private joke.)
Played the last 37 mins. He played as a left winger and did alright but looked rusty. He had a nice pass from the left wing to a player in front of the box, who's shot was saved by Motagua's keeper. He got a yellow in the last minute for diving.
Gotta be some maps geeks on here. Great question though... 4 miles from Xolos stadium to the border. There’s gotta be several lower level teams on border towns, and maybe in Vancouver but I doubt their stadium closer than that. Funny topic though.
