Ream's not a NT player. He was part of why we didn't qualify. It's a joke he was playing important qualifiers.

For the record, Ream played in four matches during Hex qualifying:

    6-0 win versus Honduras
    1-1 tie with Panama
    1-1 tie with Mexico
    0-2 loss to Costa Rica

I thought he was fine. I don't think he should go to Prem anyway. He could be a well paid gun in the Championship for somebody looking to move up.

I was watching Arsenal v Mancity yday on Deportes and they were talking about why C.Bravo got the GK job with Pep at Mancity. They said that Pep insists that a keeper have good feet and C.Bravo got the job for that reason. LIke 5 minutes later C.Bravo hits a ball just over the halfway line with just the right pace, right down the middle, just where Aguero can "back" in to the CB and let the ball come down in front of his feet, dribble, goal, 1-0.

If we look at the ball Howard sent against CR which they took away from Fabian and raced into goal with you will see all the things wrong with our coaching, yet our fans say OMG Ream didn't stop that.

In another game I remember Villafana letting a player get inside him in the box on a deadball kick and Ream looks around and tries to block the guy who scores. OMG Ream again.

i.o.w., I don't think Ream is a CL UEFA player but his passing, form, experience were all perfect for qualifying but you cant qualify with one player and he couldn't make up for every other mistake on the pitch. Like playing a keeper with a groin problem or playing Johnson in that midfield formation - he has never done that well, ever.

It's mind-boggling how people here overlook his lousy positioning when playing for the NT.

Ream was exceptionally shaky against Panama, and was at fault for a goal against Costa Rica.

He's not that bad of a player, and if he gave his normal production at CF or LB or winger, he might be a decent enough player within our player pool, but our biggest strength is CB. Ream getting games during the Hex hurt the NT, and him continuing to get games will hurt the NT. We have 5-10 CB's better than him.

Besler, Brooks, EPB, Glad can all pass and while I do agree that we need CB's who can pass, that doesn't mean they aren't better than Ream.

What's the point of a defender who can pass out of the back when he's usually on the wrong side of the forward? He won't be passing, the ball will be kicked from the central circle.

Besler and Brooks, yes. EPB and Glad t.b.d, imo.

Did you listen to TTS interview with Warshaw? 39' - 50' is pretty good. I like how he says he wouldn't have Pogba on his team in a million years. Have to agree there.

Interesting how he says he couldn't figure out Toronto and he saw Vanney in January and admitted he was wrong. Kind of strange considering his whole philosophy. It would be cool to see Ream go to Toronto.

MLS 2018 season preview talk with Bobby Warshaw

Edit, tip: I had a hard time navigating TTS til I opened it in Chrome,

When you misplay him, sure. Ream has to pass over the grand canyon if he's playing in an Arena lineup.

Well, when Bradley drops in between and behind both CB's, it gets hard to pass forward.

Kind of off topic but meant to compare him to Ream and Warshaw talks the guy up in that broadcast I linked to above:

Wyatt Omsberg - any good? Sounds like has the skills and apparently was best athlete defender as tested at combine. I'm guessing he's 22/23 as a 4 yr college guy.

I think what happens with guys like that compared to YA's is that they don't get called to senior nat team before they are 26 or so - like Hedges - at which point it is too late to inculcate international habits in them. The conclusion then is that the defender of the year in MLS is no good and coaches go with a guy like Ream just because he is so much more experienced because he is a YA. Then people complain that he isn't good enough. Mexico to USA:" Keep digging".

EPB passes Gatorade on the bench, Brooks passes Gatorade in the PT facilities, Glad I am unsure of, and Besler you have a case for.

I don't think JAB is in condition to pass anything at this point.

Ream was solid for the US but was never going to be optimal in kickball systems nor in systems with no central midfield.

The CR goal was mainly on Howard.

It means that EPB needs time on the field before we can say he is ahead of anyone and that Brooks needs to be healthy before he is able to contribute again. Meanwhile, Ream is a viable option for a passing talent out of the back and while not the first choice, is what we currently have until another jumps ahead. Therefore, he should stay in the mix until such time as when those two and others are passing soccer balls again
