There's been a James Kiffe sighting, yesterday in the Reno/SJ preseason match... 75' - A special moment for our affiliation. 💙@QuakesAcademy player JJ Foe Nuphaus enters the match as a sub for @Reno1868FC. Ivan Valencia also started the second half for Reno. #ForwardAsOne pic.twitter.com/r95PLBYYLG— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) February 10, 2018
Trialists who played in last night's game vs. Gold FC: - Brad Burkhart, D (Sac State) - Luis Martinez, MF (OKC Energy; FC Tucson; AD Guancasteca; SJE U-23; Chico St.) - Jose Carrera Garcia, MF/F (Cal) - Boubacar Diallo - Khalid Arramdani, F (Burlingame) - Brian Nana-Sinkam, D (Sounders II) - Camron Krow
Uggggh..... Reno?? I hope he’s really aiming for the Quakes with that move, or this is something he’s working on with the Quakes FO to see if he can show well enough and move into the MLS side. I wasn’t expecting him to be here next season but that still hurts... seeing him in MLS on the Quakes would be fantastic, however
Wow. Are we at the point of counting on one hand how many players we'll have back from last year? I wasn't expecting this to be a "blow up the team" offseason, but apparently it is. I'm sure a lot of this is fall-out from Buckle leaving.
Well, not counting Bijev, there are eight returning. Take into account Hall and Moffat were probably on two-year contracts, and Hategan should probably be in his own category with the academy/professional contract, that leaves you with five. I wonder if the reverse is true? Buckle left because Dunivant is building the roster.
You'd also wonder if all of these players are leaving because buckle is gone - why is buckle gone? They obviously loved him - Petty power struggles perhaps? Not good
Coach Elliott did a Q&A over on Reddit. He didn't have much of interest to say other than this about the current roster, "We feel like most of the team is in place. The trialists did well but we're not looking to add them at this point. We're still considering some Academy players and we would always be open to bringing another player or two if the conditions are right."
Notice Adam Moffat is listed as injured. Is he still recovering from his hernia surgery? His surgery was 6/21 and he was supposed to be back 8-10 weeks later....
Sammy Ochoa is listed on the Las Vegas Light's roster. Also listed is Freddy Adu, whose career somehow has yet to be bid adieu.
Now from the man himself, posted over on Reddit... I wanted to say thank you to all the fans at SRFC. I wanted to wait to write anything until I had signed a new contract. That day has come and I thought it was important for everyone to know how appreciative I am of everyone who has come out to support the team over the last few seasons. Sacramento is an incredible place to play and it would be a huge mistake for the MLS to pass up on SRFC. You guys have made Sacramento feel like home for me and I could not be more grateful! As for my personal decision to leave the club, I needed to put myself in the best position to move up. I wanted to make sure and shout out to a few people in sacramento who have been instrumental in my success on the field. There a lot of people in the organization that go above and beyond on a daily basis and dont get a lot of credit for it. That begins Katy Norton and Luke Rayfield. Katy is the team physical therapist and Luke is the strength and conditioning coach. These two go above and beyond on a daily basis and I credit them with never missing a regular season game in my professional career due to injury. I also was fortunate enough to play every minute last season without injury, this never would have happened without Katy and Luke. Jesse Saenz at Epic Chiropractic also went above and beyond as a resource for players. I also wanted to thank Sharon Anderson who was the Team Operations Coordinator. Sharon was the everyday person who helped make sure the players had whatever they needed including rides to and from the airport to setting up players in their apartments. Sharon will be missed at the club. Lastly I wanted to thank Brian Nowalski, the teams equipment manager and team admin. Brian is just an incredible person who the club and players are very lucky to have. I appreciate how hard the guy works and how he makes the locker room such a good environment. There are a lot of incredible people who work at the club who I havent named who deserve more recognition than they get. Thanks Again, Feel free to message me or comment if you have any questions! James Kiffe No announcement released by Reno, yet.
Republic FC sign five to 'Academy Players on Professional Team' contracts. USL ‘Academy Players on Professional Team’ contracts are designed to preserve players’ amateur status. They allow Republic FC Academy players to play in first team professional matches while still maintaining NCAA eligibility.
Incoming! BREAKING: Republic FC sign midfielder Jure Matjašič for the remainder of the 2018 USL season. Welcome to Sacramento, Jure!📝 | https://t.co/94PNDkXA0s pic.twitter.com/IdVEESdAZF— Sacramento Republic FC (@SacRepublicFC) April 4, 2018
Didn't Villareal go down with an injury at RGV? We can always use a strong midfielder, but I hope this doesn't indicate that Villareal's injury is bad.
now Sac Republic has loaned out Mitch Taintor to Toronto FC - Taintor used to play for Toronto FC II so this transfer makes a little sense, especially with Toronto being a bit short & having to still play in Guadalajara for the CONCACAF Club Championship
Watching the game now. Taintor started as a left back. He's been holding his own for the first five minutes...in fact he has looked better than Toronto's right back.
Toronto is essentially throwing this game away, they’re saving their best players for the CL match. Still cool to see him get the opportunity
Yeah, TFC is definitely throwing this one in anticipation of the CL match. That defense is about as effective as the Maginot Line, but hey, Taintor scored a goal! Maybe he's SRFC's next Giovinco? Lol PS. - nice to see DeMarcus Beasley has still got gas in his tank.
In case you missed it, Here is Taintor's goal How's that for a first impression? On-loan from @SacRepublicFC, @Mitch_Taintor bags his first MLS goal to bring the Reds back into the match#TFCLive | #HOUvTOR https://t.co/maMWBqKl9P— Toronto FC (@TorontoFC) April 21, 2018
