when gameplay demands it, yes, they do swap places, but otherwise no. CP on the right, Schurrle on the left
Tigran Petrosian is widely acclaimed as the greatest defensive player ever. Which means, like in soccer, I can appreciate a solid defensive mentality. As in, the best attack is an impenetrable defense. Which goes well with Serie A, at times. EPL on the other hand is like a summer blockbuster: quick, strong, spectacular, with little time for thinking and a lot of hard play. Not my cup of tea. I like reflective stuff, Bresson over Nolan.
Dortmund needs to score because there is nothing worse and more boring to watch than watching a game where an Italian team has a week to practice parking the bus to ensure they go on to the next round.
Atalanta doesn't have a great record at home. Napoli and Cagliari beat them at home recently, in Serie A. And Batman makes it 3-2!
yeah, they needed this win badly, cause otherwise, given the defensive mindset of Italian teams Atalanta would have (successfully, probably) dragged the game to a yawning 0-0. But, now Atalanta will go out and play in the 2nd leg, at least until they score.
I like the way Stogie is using Pulisic and pulling him towards the end. CP still dawdles on the ball too much. Gotta let go of the rock. Look at Gotze on the two goals BVB scored when Gotze was on. That steal by Schurrle and the interplay with Gotze before the 2nd goal was worth the price of admission. It brings back the nightmare of playing against Germans in football. I'm really enjoying the Bundesliga this year.
Meh, cheap by most standards matchday tickets,+ mostly financially stable sustainable clubs+ spunking lots of British pounds into their developmental programs,(Dortmund has an academy in Mexico) is better than a good season in Europe. I think it is more interesting to build up for a trophy, and run a club by developing young professional players to reach the highest levels than to simply spunk down obscene amounts of money. To each his own I guess.
The continental competition is what tells you where your league stands. As is, the BuLi has slipped from #2 to #4 and it looks the part. Only Bayern looks like a top team. It's not good being a one-club league.
