Relegated yes. A good WC and I can see him stay in a good european league for a year or two. We should be honest here, he was signed as third choice goalie by Metz but fought and ended up nr 1 for almost the whole season. Them being relegated has not so much to do with him really.
Looks like Boca Juniors are interested Kawashima https://www.footballchannel.jp/2018/07/26/post283154/
I’d love to see him in Boca as they’re one of my favorite South American teams. But more importantly wanna see another GK from Japan move abroad. Hopefully Nakamura can recover and make a move soon.
Kawashima is doomed to be a journey-man and that's why we love him. It'd be nice to see him in South America, not by force at Boca.
To Manchester City to replace the injured Claudio Bravo as Ederson's backup: 川島永嗣に“驚きの移籍先”が浮上!? 地元紙がプレミア王者の補強候補として紹介 https://t.co/QIL9iWtASJ #gekisaka pic.twitter.com/F2r02GWyGk— ゲキサカ (@gekisaka) August 22, 2018 https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...man-city-bravo-goalkeepers-transfers-15054107 Reports lining him up along with Argentina's Oscar Ustari, Brazil's Diego Cavalieri, and Stuart Taylor to replace Bravo. I the rumour is true and he signed for Manchester City, it will be big for him and the next generations of Japanese GKs, it will surely enhance the perception of Japanese GKs having one of them joining the Premier League's champions. As for Kawashima, it will be good if he could manage to start in some marginal matches like the league cup matches etc. Let's see what will happen, and if there is an official interest or not.
It seems Strasbourg want a Japanese player at any cost. Remember that they were linked to Gen Shoji after the WC. If they get Kawashima, it might accelerate Shoji's transfer to Strasbourg during the winter break (providing they are still interested in him).
The deal with Strasbourg is official. Here's hoping he can buck expectations once again by winning some playing time! http://www.rcstrasbourgalsace.fr/actualites/eiji-kawashima-sengage-avec-le-racing
That's awesome. I'm glad he gets what he likely wanted, which to 1) stay in Europe, and 2) be in a pretty decent league. I think he'll gladly that that regardless of how much he'll get to play. It's not like he hasn't been in that position before, a la what Whispered11 just stated.
