I get the feeling if Klopp was going to make another move he would've done it already. Klopp likes to have deals done early which I would think would be particularly important in this window so the player can acclimate to LFC and make a difference on the field. I could be wrong, they've been pretty good at keeping their cards close to their vest.

Yep, it's looking that way right now. I've read more than once that Klopp seems content to wait rather than settle for second best if he cannot get his main target and that may well be the case this month.

Did he have a “main target” in January?

Other than trying to get Keita early?

(What happened to the edit button?)

Good question, we can only guess at the answer and whatever it is Klopp just doesn't seem desperate to bring just anyone in right now .

The strongest links in the press seem to point to getting Keita early as the prime target and there were one or two other fairly strong links eg Goretzka and Lemar .
However , I think it's quite possible that Keita is actually the replacement for Coutinho and that Klopp is hesitant to ad another attacking mid right now especially given Ox looking better all the time.
It may be a case of watching how the current players perform for the rest of the season before making another move . How Hendo and Lallana bounce back from their injuries , how the likes of Solanke and Ings step up if Sturridge goes , how ready Woodburn is or isn't to contribute etc.
By the summer he may have a better idea of what he needs including the Can, Migs/Karius situations and of course probably more and better options to look at then .

tools usually is at the bottom of your dialogue box as well - where the edit button is/was - maybe that's a mobile site thing (for example I'm on the PC right now and I don't have "tools" just the normal edit button etc. - last night I was responding to you on my phone).

the green dot might indicate who is online at the time.

It's one of the reasons I can't see us letting Sturridge go - our attackers are really: Mane, Firmino, Salah, Sturridge, Solanke, and Ings.

Ox and Lallana are not effective playing in the front line (can they do it - sure but we've seen lallana struggle to make an impact, and OX hasn't really played there much in his career). So apart from Sturridge and his never ending injuries - we have a 20 yr old with no goals, and a player coming off of 2 major knee injuries. Sturridge can at least still fill in in a pinch - because while we've had a nice break here (8 days between Everton and Citeh and 8 days between Citeh and Swansea) - the games are about to start coming rapidly again - and Mane, Salah and Firmino will need to be rotated at times.

Yeah, I agree , other than Studge we're thin in experienced depth if Firmino ever picks up a knock. However, I suppose much will depend on how Ings and Solanke have impressed Klopp in training . I think Klopp is still big on developing and using his squad players so he might well use the rest of this season to judge whether the likes of Ings/Solanke are able to adequately fill in if called upon.

It would be rolling the dice a bit to let Sturridge leave this month but I felt the same way re Coutinho too .

The win over City was huge in regards to our fans’ patience in the transfer market. Had we lost that match on the back of Phil leaving with nobody else coming in, there would be a very different feeling around the club.

Selling Sturridge is risky, but counting on him to be available when we need him is just as risky. If one of the front 3 needs a rest (let alone injured) who plays? It would probably be Ox on the wing.

At this point, I'd say selling Studge is less risky than relying on him to be available if needed. It's such a shame too because he has so much ability.

    Bummer.

Even with his limited appearances, when he has gotten in there...he is such a natural CF that I keep thinking his ceiling is off the charts in this offense...IF...

Thing is Klopp doesn't use him even when he is fit.

I think he will need to soon in this second half of the season. Solanke has some attributes but just isn't getting it done. Ings is a complete wildcard.

Yeah, I'd rather have him than not, but its seems like just when we do need him and he'd get his opportunity, an injury pops up and he is out 6 weeks.

It really seems like Klopp is going to let Sturridge go this window....surprising to say the least (see all the previous discussions we've had on this).

Lallana is good for nothing. You cant sell Coutinho and have Lallana play in his role. Klopp should either bring in Naby Keita in Jan or go for Mahrez. He is looking to move on from Leicester for two seasons now. A former PFA winner, he would fit in straight away into the playing XI.

Hmmmmm Lallana seemed to be good for a lot of things last year. I don’t think Klopp intends for him to be the direct replacement for Coutinho - rather it will be a group effort.

Keita isn’t coming in January - this has been done to death.

Mahrez - I would actually like him. It’s not just Liverpool though - no one seems to be after him.

Word on the street is that we've agreed terms with Lemar about a move in the summer - but haven't finalized agreement with Monaco.
