Now Colin Falvey is gone. 955178660574760960 is not a valid tweet id I understand the desire to get younger. But, man, we really need some players
was only a matter of time, he was a great servant but he was really getting up there in age, he's probably going to retire now. I'm honestly fine with this move, it's a good time to start with a new GK
I agree about Busch. And age-related arguments can be made about Zayed and Falvey as well. When the 2016 squad was put together, it was clearly not meant for the long-term--there were too many players in their early thirties. Still, it's a bit unnerving to be starting from a more or less clean slate two months before the season begins. Are we now at a point where we have more coaches (Phillip Dos Santos was announced as an assistant yesterday) than players?
Hey, look, a player! Braun is back. Great to see @justinbraun17 resign with @IndyEleven again! More player announcements coming soon.— Ersal Ozdemir (@ErsalOzdemir) January 24, 2018
It's official: Indy Eleven will play most of its home games this year at Lucas Oil Stadium (a few games may be played at Carroll due to scheduling conflicts at LOS). I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, after four years I'm really kind of fed up with Carroll's shortcomings--the uncomfortable seating, the lack of amenities, the need to retreat entirely from the stadium when there are thunderstorms. On the other hand, the seating map on the club's website suggests that seats will only be sold along one sideline and behind the two goals. That means that those sitting along the side, when they look upward from the field, will see nothing but a vast expanse of empty seats. The reduced seating certainly increases the chances of sold-out games. But I'm not sure it will do much for the atmosphere (but then, big patches of empty seats in the occupied stands would be a negative, too, and Indy probably cannot draw enough to fill the entire lower bowl consistently). In any event, it's going to be an interesting and different experience.
I would really like to see the capacity for the seats we have available, can't seem to find it anywhere, but it seems like that wouldn't be much just being one side of the stadium.
My understanding is that the capacity of the complete lower bowl is around 16,000. If the Eleven use one side and both end zones (one of which, the one allocated to the BYB, is bigger than the other), I'm guessing that "capacity" would be somewhere around 10-11,000. I haven't seen a clear statement, however.
I read the Lucas Oil guide and the "Street Level" (100 and 200 sections) are about 26000 total. And we aren't even using any 200 sections, and a whole side of 100s, so I'd say about 15000 is what we're looking at. If it's any less, I don't really like this, unless IUPUI told us to get out and we had no choice. I don't get the point if we're not going to push to get higher numbers.
the capacity at carroll hasn't been an issue for the last few seasons though right? they're not going to raise attendance significantly without a huge marketing push, an mls announcement, or both of those combined. more people aren't just going to show up because they're playing at LOS. at least i wouldn't think they would.
I’m pawsitively excited to explore my new home @LucasOilStadium! Can’t wait to be unleashed on March 31st. ⚽️❤️ pic.twitter.com/Lad7OzUbuy— Zeke (@IndyElevenZeke) January 29, 2018 Indy City Market @IndyCM J I In case you missed the news, our very own @IndyEleven have a new home at @LucasOilStadium! Just one mile away, City Market is the perfect place for Eleven fans to get together before home matches! #IndyForever
I really hope the gridironlines are ton the fie;d for the first half of the season. But if that would require having a separate Fie;d Turf surface, I’m guessing they will be. Nice try by the City Market. A bit far from the stadium, I suspect.
Idk I just feel like more people would like to go to LOS than Carroll. Everyone knows where it is and a lot of people in Indy have been there at least once. Plus I feel like they will try very hard to push the new league new stadium thing, but honestly anyone's guess is as good as mine, it's hard to predict what the club's doing anymore haha
I’m hopi,g that comfort, familiarity, and predictability (vs-a-vis exposure to the elements) will prevail over the lack of smoke from the BYB. But, as you say, who knows?
ultimately it will depend on how much marketing they do. if they decide to raise that budget, we may see more butts in seats. if not...
What is the general feel of moving to USL by all you Indy fans? Does having a bunch of new, relatively close rivals make it better? (STL, LOUISVILLE, NASH, CINCY) Is a more stable league a real factor ? Does your ownership try to improve the team based on a larger , possibly more competitive league? Does this hurt or help with any changes of all of jumping to MLS, or is the right level for current times and/or future? Agree with above post, Lucas gives the appearance of professionalism, question is will the crowds come. Field questions= What was the type of turf at your prior stadium and dimensions? What is the type of turf at Lucas and dimensions? Doesn't Lucas have some parts of the lower deck that move to accomodate a wider field? - With so many teams so close together, could make a heck of a mid america road trip !
Stop by Lucas Oil Stadium on Monday, Feb. 5 from 4-7 p.m. to view seating options for the 2018 season. The purpose is to let you keep your tentative seat assignment(s) or request a different seating location. http://www.indyeleven.com/news_article/show/882302?referrer_id=3577980
I went to the same event at Carroll Stadium before the inaugural 2014 season and wound up having a chat with Peter Wilt and Ersal Ozdemir. There was such a feeling of hope in the air.
@BradfordRusin is taking in the view. There's still plenty of time for you to check our your seats at Lucas Oil Stadium
= = Crazy question, why is the field covered like that? Are you trying to visualize the field without NFL lines and logos, or was even coming up?
Looks like the next scheduled event is a Monster Jam on Sat. That's more than likely why the field is covered in plastic.
