I doubt Case leaves Minnesota now, which opens up some QB options for the Redskins. Yes, I'd trade for Teddy or sign Sam for considerably less and let Kirk walk.

Not to pick on this, but wasn't this weekend a pretty good demonstration of the degree to which the importance of '"the franchise QB" is overstated.

I doubt that anyone here is under the impression that Blake Bortles played a supurb game-- seemed to me the same things that were wrong with him a week ago were still very much in evidence this weekend-- but they rang up 45 points on Pittsburg anyway. Meanwhile its hard to see what could have been expected of Philip Rivers that he didn't produce-- yet the Chargers don't have much to show for his career.

Meanwhile also Case Keenum, undrafted and written off by almost everybody as hopeless after an 0-8 start to his career, managed to stay on one roster or another long enough that the game slowed down for him, and is now a qb you can go to a Conference Championship with.

Yes. It's been overstated because recently, we were dealing with a golden age of elite quarterbacks (not to mention the passing game rule changes that also opened things up). Teams started to get away from the old formula of playing good defense and running the football can win games, even late in the season.

This is one of the arguments I have been using all along to say the Redskins should not sign Kirk Cousins. He's not an elite QB, but he will get paid like one. What team in recent memory won a Super Bowl paying their QB more than they are actually worth? Matt Ryan was the only example I could come up with. Eli Manning was making $10 million a year when he won his 2nd Super Bowl. Joe Flacco won the Super Bowl before his big deal. It just simply doesn't happen. Meanwhile, we saw Peyton Manning have the worst year of his career and win a Super Bowl thanks to an elite defense. Rex Grossman reached a Super Bowl thanks to his defense. Colin Kaepernick reached the Super Bowl mainly due to their defense (and the read option).

You have a better chance investing in the rest of your team than you do hitting on an elite quarterback. And if you don't hit on an elite QB, you are stuck in the conundrum that the Redskins find themselves in -- overpaying for a QB. Take your cap money and sign impact free agents that will fit what you are trying to do. Obviously, you also need to draft well.

Well... Barring some sort of dramatic shift, Matt Patricia appears to be the guy for the Lions. It's an alright hire. I have my misgivings about process, but after thinking about it, no one else is making earth-shattering hires I'd really want over Patricia. Except for Oakland with Gruden, but Gruden is making 10 million a year on a 10 year contract with a potential ownership stake. I like Gruden, but only Bill Belichick is truly worth that huge of a commitment. Detroit is going to have to revamp the defence for the new scheme, but I think we'd have to make investments on that side of the ball regardless, so okay. I really hope Patricia brings in an offensive guy. Jim Bob is still on staff, but Quinn appears to say he'll let the coach make the call to fire him or keep him. I'm not opposed to Jim Bob staying on, but if he does, we badly need another guy with some cachè in the room when he's scheming gameplans and building the playbook, particularly with running the ball. Preferably a "run coordinator" similar to Callahan's role in Dallas in 2014. It isn't acceptable for us to not be able to run the ball behind a pretty decent OL.

My 2 cents for the Championship Games

JAC 14-28 NE (The Patriots will take their muskets and go jag hunting!!)

MIN 21-31 PHI (The Eagles are too strong!! Their destiny is the Super Bowl!!)

    SUPER BOWL 52

    NE 35-21 PHI

The Patriots win their 6th Super Bowl!!! Maybe that's a sign for another team we all love to win their 6th!!!:);):);)

I already did!!! Although I'm changing the score!! It's going to be like Super Bowl 48 when the Seahawks destroyed the Broncos 43-8 I think!!

The Eagles wont have a chance and the Patriots will take out their muskets and will pluck another feathered victim, just like the Falcons last year!!

The Patriots will crush the Eagles 38-10 and win their 6th Super Bowl ring!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: And that will be a great sign for another team we all love to win their 6th!!;)

From a distance, I kind of enjoy how intensely obnoxious Eagles fans are. I'll also definitely be rooting for the Eagles over the Pats, because dammit, the last two people on the planet in need of another ring are Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. It's frankly boring how the Patriots have pretty much broken the NFL.

I'll be supporting the same team that I supported 13 years ago in the Super Bowl.

Saints had a ridiculous draft. Tempted to say Lattimore for defensive, Kamara for offensive.

Kamara for sure, even with the year Hunt had. Ramczyk deserves a mention though, and Smith-Schuster too.

Wasn't as impressed with the defenders; I gyess its Lattimore, Lattimore or Baker. Am I forgetting a UFA?
