for only the second time since rebranding, we open at home. March 4 vs NYCFC. We then go on the road on March 10 to play Chicago. Full schedule in January.
I can't believe it's almost 2018 and the league is still doing the rinky-dink "announce two games of the schedule but not the whole schedule" thing.
MLS should really just hire me to be in charge of making the schedule. It's not hard at all to make a schedule in a timely manner that allows for some flexibility, misses international dates entirely, and gets 34 games in before November with limited congestion and travel problems. They have been so much better about getting the schedule out earlier (Dec/Jan) rather than later (Feb/Mar) in recent years, but still. Why is it so damn hard to not schedule games on international dates?
Don’t forget they need to also schedule around the Yankees, Seahawks, Patriots, NASCAR, and about a half a dozen other things
So ground sharing is rinky-dink? I mean why does Seattle need to build a SSS when they pull what they do attendance wise and are owned by the same people? As for NASCAR, why would you want to fight that traffic for an SKC game? All the situations aren’t the same, yes NYCFC and the Revs need to get out of their current situations, but there will always be scheduling to work around.
It's a pain in the ass when the tbones have a game the same day as skc. I can' even imagine an overlap with nascar. I would almost certainly be staying home if that were ever to happen.
I should have expanded. The MLB schedule for 2018 has been done for months. This is not an excuse. The NFL schedule is usually released in April of that calendar year, meaning MLS will have started play several weeks before the 2018 NFL schedule is released. This is not an excuse. The NASCAR schedule for 2018 was released in May - seven (!) months ago. This is not an excuse. In the past, it was reasonable (and still rinky-dink nonetheless) that MLS had to wait so long to release their schedule. All I'm saying is that the league should aspire to higher standards, and a slow drip of news (home openers announced!) is a joke at this stage in MLS's development.
Fair enough I misunderstood. And FWIW, the full schedule has been out at this time before, 2014 schedule I believe came out this early (or was it 2013, one of those 2)
Right, but I still don't understand why any of that is difficult. MLS makes it seem difficult. It's not.
For once I am glad it is a Sunday match as I am working the day before! Generally I don't like the Sunday night matches but selfishly this works better for me this time. An early birthday present too as my birthday is two days later!
Full schedule out, all home games on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. 3 Wednesday games, all away, 7 national TV games, 5 at home. https://www.sportingkc.com/post/2018/01/04/sporting-kc-announces-2018-mls-regular-season-schedule
I may try to make the NYRB away game, actually (have a friend who lives in NYC that just visited us this week and I really need to get out and see NYC some time). Not a huge fan of the plethora of Sunday games, but hard to complain about everything being on the weekends.
Does anyone have the location where SKC will be training in Scottsdale AZ? I will be there at the same time and would like to look in on the training sessions.
I'm going to guess the same place they're playing the scrimmages in the first phase, the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex. https://www.sportingkc.com/post/2018/01/11/sporting-kc-unveils-full-2018-preseason-schedule http://www.phxrisingfc.com/stadium-information
