Incredible that he plays for Poland. Had he been Italian or Spanish he'd be up for the Ballon d'Or already

This season is probably the weakest season of Suarez and Barcelona under Luis Enrique 3 years span. But Suarez is still very amazing. He scored 37 goals in 51 matches (doesn't take any penalty). With 29 goals in laliga he is second to Messi with just 3,4 shot per match, compare to Messi's 5,3 shot per match (37 goals). He once again lead laliga top assit with 15 assit although he is a striker

He is on his way to LEGEND status. One of the best strikers of this decade.

Needs another amazing performance for Uruguay in 2018.

Had he not wasted a big portion of his career at a club like Liverpool at this point he'd be very near legendary status.

Besides we helped turn him into a world class star. Barca can thank us.

I think Suarez almost single handly lead Liverpool nearly to the champion. Not only that he also helped Sturridge performed his best season up to date. If Suarez played for Liverpool now, they would be champion

He is already a legend. Since 2013, he has been one of very best player. Especially for 3 seasons 2013/14-14/15-15/16 he could claim to be the second in the world (behind Messi only).

Come to think of Uruguay, it's not surprised why Uruguay has been so poor in recent tournaments because of Suarez disapearance. Copa 2015-2016 Suarez didn't not play. World cup 2014 Suarez didn't not play round of 16.

Being Player of the Year at lesser Team (not Club) and nearly winning title in a very compeitive League? I think that adds his status, he has then been top players if not top in multiple leagues 3 leagues, not just 2.

I would more argue he was at Ajax too long and also I am surprised he did not move sooner and to a club challenging for CL honours then.... without offence to Liverpool, his behavaiour may have put some of the other big clubs off.

For half a year maybe. Or a year if you like but not much more.

The way he has worked himself up is admirable but as a person and sportsman he remains first class scum. If uruguay gets a seed at 2018 then he can reach the quarter final or so.

yeah it was surprising he didn't move summer 2010. But I imagine he got a lot of bad press due to the handball move he pulled against Ghana.

please provide a single verifiable source that named messi the best player of the 2013/14 club season
and the suarez superior to cr7 in 2014/15
(in case you need reminding cr7 had as many assists as suarez in 14/15 but scored 36 more goals)

Why do you bother about such claims? For all you know in two weeks time somebody will make similar claims for Lewandowski/Aubemeyang/etc without bothering to substantiate their claims.

Laliga 13/14, Messi scored 28 goals, Ronaldo scored 31 goals but that season Messi was injured. Barcenola finished in second place whereas real finished in 3rd (same point). In laliga Messi was better than Ronaldo. Ronaldo had his ucl which boost his performance though he and his fan stole every other player's credit. And Suarez simply had better league performance than both. 31 goals, no penalty. Liverpool had 12 penalties in PL that season. If Suarez had taken every penalty like ronaldo, he would have scored at least 40 goals in PL.
14/15 season Suarez was banned until 25/10/2014. His first season see him won the treble. He was very important and displayed in big matches such as el classico, vs man city, vs psg, vs bayern munich 2nd leg. Comparing to ronaldo first real season, he scored 33 goals in all comp, 4 penalty, no tittle. Suarez scored 25, no pen, treble. Absolutely astonishing from Suarez.
The same season Suarez won the treble, Ronaldo scored 61 goals. Very impressive but 14 penalties goals. And ronaldo just did not have the all round game that Suarez did that season. Suarez had 24 assits, ronaldo had 20 but i believe ronaldo had assit by using his hair touching the ball???

messi was clearly inferior to ronaldo in la liga 2013/14
ronaldo scored more la liga goals than lionel messi in 2013/14 playing in less games(this is how i know you are absolutely clueless about players not named messi, neymar or suarez)

    lionel messi
28 la liga goals in 31 games(22 open play goals)

    cristiano ronaldo
31 la liga goals in 30 games(25 open play goals)

in addition to this ronaldos 2013/14 champions league season wipes the floor with suarez's entire champions league career(FACT)

cristiano ronaldo 2013/14 champions league season
    17 goals and 4 assists in 11 games ratio:1.9

luis suarez entire champions league career
    19 goals and 14 assists in 33 games ratio:1.0

    http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-suarez/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/44352

i am not really interested in suarez's trophy haul in 2014/14 rather im interested in what he did to win them trophies
as far as im concerned the vast majority of the credit will have to be awarded to lionel messi in 2014/15
when you have a player who is effectively functioning as a goat playmaker and scorer at the same time you can believe that most strikers many of whom are not even that special would score plenty of goals

ronaldo was la liga player of the season in 2013/14(FACT)
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/29801281
and the best player in the champions league season 13/14(FACT)
it was one of the best club seasons in recent memory
while luis suarez was making his name as a top striker in 2013/14 against the likes of norwich city and west brom ,cristiano ronaldo was destroying some of the best club sides in the europe

    3 goals and 1 assist in 2 games vs juventus(serie a champions)
2 goals and 1 pre assists in 2 games against bayern munich(bundesliga champions)
4 goals in 2 matches against 5th place seville
1 goal in 60 mins playing time against dortmund(runner up bundeseliga)
4 goals,2 assists and 1 pre assist against schalke (3rd place bundesliga)
a crucial equalising goal away against atletico madrid(la liga champions)
    http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cristiano-ronaldo/leistungsdaten/spieler/8198/plus/0?saison=2013

and the official la liga goal of the season against 8th place valencia

    luis suarez 13/14
0 goals against top 4 sides
15 goals against bottom 4 sides(49% of his entire goal tally)

Suarez is truly one of a kind. Any other club, he'd be the biggest star. I admire his ability to keep with being 2nd to Messi.

Other strikers like Lewandowski, Higuain, Cavani, Kane, Aguero, Lukaku, Falcao, Aubameyang, Icardi, they are all excellent but I truly feel only Lewandowski can match Suarez. Cavani is an excellent goalscorer via stats but literally PSG dominates the league and he's not a huge player in CL matches that he should be.

Though I rank Ibra in the top of strikers of the 21st century.

I am not entirely certain whether Suarez - with his playing style and past - would be the biggest star at any other club, but this ability to play second fiddle to the likes of Messi, Forlan, Gerrard is certainly one of the things he has over Ibrahimovic. Unlike Neymar one also doesn't have the idea it takes a lot away from his potential, or his greatest impact.

His past behavior aside (this is why reportedly Real Madrid never wanted him - and maybe it doesn't help him in the awards vis-a-vis Neymar), he was maybe a more attractive proposition for Barcelona than the aloof Swede Ibrahimovic anyway. The 'shock' departure of Neymar after which Barcelona was desperate to sign a replacement Brazilian (not just a random star) - or two of them - has pointed at this side of Barcelona's considerations and global strategy.

hmmm... I don't think Suarez has been #2 at Uruguay for quite some time. Forlan was undeservedly #1 through 2010, but since the Copa win in 2011 I think Suarez has generally been regarded as the best striker and best overall footballer on the Uruguay NT. And he's handled that responsibility quite well (apart from the biting).

I don't necessarily mean it happened recently. Forlan is eight years and eight months older so naturally there is only a partial overlap. Forlan was 32 in 2011 and on the way down (not a success at Inter, as well as sub-par in 2010-11 for Atletico).

Maybe it happened more recently with Cavani although not certain about that and I can't prove it. Just as with PSG he leans on getting to positions to score (and waste/score chances). Take that away and Cavani isn't so special. But I can't show (for myself) whether Cavani out-shoots Suarez (and Suarez does more of the un-glamorous tasks).

The last four years Suarez has scored 5 goals in 13 games (including 1 penalty). Cavani scored 16 in 28 (includes 4 penalties, 2 directly drawn by himself).

Don't pin me down on this and I didn't list Cavani his name among the others.

I believe Cavani has scored more for Uruguay in recent years, but I'm sure Suarez is still the Alpha there.
