I am beginning to think Kitchee coach Chu Chi-Kwong might be a good choice to be the next Hong Kong National Team Coach. He knows the system and is coaching the top club side in HK. By June he will have completed his first adventure in the ACL group stage which should give him valuable experience.

Kitchee can then promote either Cristiano Cordeiro or Roberto Losada to be their head coach. Both are now supporting Chu. I think Cordeiro might be better qualified than Roberto Losada.

For the North Korea match in March, I think Kwok Ka-Lok should step up and take charge. He did very well in the Guangdong-HK Cup and the match will give him good experience for the future.

Kitchee's Diego Forlan is back in training today. He went through extra training to try to get back to match fitness. He will be a substitute for the Eastern Longlions match on Thursday.

He would be my second choice. I think much of his success comes down to having the biggest budget in Hong Kong as well as having the scouts to help him acquire the "local players" who are grandfathered under the old rules.

However, I agree with you on his knowledge of the Hong Kong system. He deserves credit for helping build the Kitchee academy to what it is today. Unlike Kim, he does not hesitate to make changes and adjust his tactics early in the match as shown on Sunday.

KC Southern District received its team bus from sponsor Isuzu.

The club also signed Brazilian striker Elias Fernandes de Oliverira (third from left), formerly of Corinthians, Busan I Park and Perak, to strengthen its attack.

Lee Chi Kin. In his whole career, he has had to make the most out of limited resources which sounds very similar to the job description for Hong Kong manager.

He has notable experience in giving young players a chance and developing them. That's important because after this current cycle whoever takes the job will have to replace a lot of older players such as Baise, Itaparica, Karikari, Roberto, Huang, etc.

Kitchee trashed Eastern 8:1. I really worry about Eastern will also be trashed by the AFC club competition newbie Thanh Hoa on next Tuesday...

That was a humiliating defeat for Eastern Long Lions as they conceded 8 goals against Kitchee SC.

So happy Eastern got so badly thrashed by Kitchee!!! :):):) Vadocz was my Man of the Match.

I wonder how many will bother to enter the stadium for the Thanh Hoa ACL qualifying match now. Thanh Hoa should beat them easily. Eastern are a bunch of losers.

5,415 people attended the match, a record this season, and generated gate receipts of $258,040. I guess that's the only thing Eastern can feel pleased about.

Incredible match in so many ways. Eastern made too many careless mistakes with the ball in their own half, more than usual, and each time they were punished.

The lesson for the rest of the HKPL should be to press high up the pitch against Eastern. Stop showing them so much respect and don't give them so much time to play the ball out of the back.

At this rate, I generally do not think that Eastern will have any chance of getting past the second preliminary stage.

Agreed with the bolded. YAPP will definitely need to forget the nightmare of conceding 8 goals against Kitchee SC and maintain focus for the upcoming ACL match.

I am sorry for Szeto Man-Chun, he is a nice guy. But Eastern as a club does not deserve any sympathy, especially the way their convener Peter Leung behaved last year in the ACL debacle.

Lee Kin-Wo is probably not the long term solution. I think Eastern will find a foreigner in the end.

Godfred Karikari returns to HK and promptly scores and helps his new club R&F Guangzhou to be Sun Yuen Long FC 2:1.

HK Pegasus 2:2 KC Southern District

Nikolaj Komazec provided two assists to help his club gain a draw. HK Pegasus is 6 points behind Kitchee in second place. I think they need Macau striker Leung Ka-Hang to return to action soon, then Travis Major can play in defense and help out.

Did anyone else see Philip Chan's double kickout at Wong Chun Ho?

If you had watched the match, you would've thought that Eastern were the team who hadn't played in two months and Thanh Hoa were in midseason form. Hats off to the Vietnamese side who they were crisper with their passing, more energetic in winning second balls and much more clinical with their scoring chances.

That's typical of a Hong Kong club. They can hardly put a couple of passes together against any foreign competition. The players are clearly not up to the standard required at this level.

Now Eastern Longlions just need to suffer another defeat on Saturday to Sun Bus Yuen Long FC to complete their hat-trick. The best of luck to Yuen Long!!!

Details of this year's Lunar New Year Cup will have two different fixtures with the Hong Kong Women's National Football team taking on Armed Police Force of Nepal (Women's) Team whilst the Men's National Team will play against a Hong Kong League XI team.

Both fixtures will take place on February 19th.

Also in other news, it seems like Ranger's CHUCK Yiu-Kwok could be in a potential transfer to a Chinese League One club:
