That's my point. Use the pick. Get a highly rated player and get more than the going rate for a blind pick.

How often have we had a top three spot (in an expansion year no less)???

Despite whatever we thought of em Atuahene, Bakero, Mueller, Toye, and Twumasi were highly rated by scouts. It was no secret. If we picked one and made reasonable demands one of the clubs who traded up to select these guys would likely be willing to arrange a deal.

I'll buy your going rate argument. I still think 200K was low but you sell your eggs for market price.

The issue isnt whether they are really stiffs/deckchairs or not...it's whether Olsen thinks so. I'm still optimistic about Moreno and Segura. It's all up to Ben

Tristan Blackmon's stock was on the rise but was he worth more than 200K. I bet 225 or 250 could have been gotten if they tried harder. However I bet Kapser had his hair brained idea already to go so he took what he could get.

I am a professed Ben apologist. "Hello my name is Shawn and I make excuses for Ben Olsen." However I have seen enough of Ben to know these guys are not going to light MLS on fire. They will be lucky to score a couple of goals and be gone before you can order their jersey at the team store.

What lowered the prices has to be the number of international players that would require an IRS.

I don't question this. But I do question how much Costa Rican and Venezuelan league soccer you've seen, specifically with our new players' involved teams, to come to that decision.

If you think they will suck based on track record, fine, but you can't then say they will suck because you have an eye for talent.

The more I think about it, Accam was moved to pay for re-signing Schweinsteiger.

Honestly, it's really dumb to get worked up about 25k or 50k in allocation money they *may* have been able to get. That's not the difference between a horrible move and a great move.
It was an adequate trade. Nothing more and nothing less.

Costa Rican or Venezuelan soccer is crap. I have seen enough of it's level and it on Bein Sports to know. So I will stick with my evaluation. Playing well in the Montgomery County League does not mean you can play in MLS. Those leagues are not much above Montgomery County in my book. I can say that, you don't have to agree with me, I am ok with that but I can and will continue to say it.

I have very different idea of deck chairs in this context.
Jeffrey or Conor Doyle are my definition. These guys you mentioned are brought in to hopefully fight for starting spots or maybe first attacking sub for mattocks.

I agree with your deck chairs. Segura will fight for a starting spot early then fade away. Same thing for Moreno. I expect Oustead and Brillant to start at first. Mattocks was always going to spot start and be an early sub option.

Guess our “attacking piece” will be coming from abroad....

Olsen and Kasper admitted as much this morning, but it still stings.

Of course, the bigger issues would have been if Columbus was even willing to talk to teams in the Eastern Conference, let alone Kamara's wish for a "coastal location".

Well Columbus is going full "Major League" so that running off to Austin in 2019 won't seem so bad. No Kamara, no Meram -- oh wait, they got "feet of cement" Zardes. Higuain must be downing gallon bottles of Malbec moaning "no lo creo".

There was the guy who showed up to a home game in a Nyassi United jersey. Nyassi having played one away game for us before.

14 games, no goals. Deckchair. Didn’t even have the honor of being on the bench in the USOC Final.

    Thx,

    Jay!

I've got my plane tickets also for the Atlanta game (March 11) - this time I am flying SWA so nobody will pick on me. First time I do back to back roadtrips for DCU. I have been to Orlando two years ago, and to Atlanta last year, so I haven't seen any of their new stadiums. Hopefully it will be worth it and we'll come out with 6 points.

I could have gone to Atlanta in July, but I may be in Italy, and I think I can bear Atlanta in March, a lot less in July

Do people usually buy away tickets from DCU or the home team?

I’ve purchased through the Screaming Eagles in the past. They usually have away trip information on their website or Facebook page.

"RFK losses" means we can't afford more than one DP at a time. Oh, wait . . .

Get ready for Freddy. The local fish wrap had his name right below the banner linking to the usually deeply incisive piece from his press agent/publicist broadcasting that he wants to return to the sport and hold on for the breaking news,

I'm afraid that any connection between Freddy and DCU or for that matter any sporting enterprise will be disclosed at some point TBD. I found it odd to see his name at the top of the page considering the magnitude of the breaking news events and the historical lack of front page coverage of the team
