Uncertainty and confusion mainly. I just don’t really understand the sense of urgency in moving him when we could have held off until the summer window and likely received twice as much money in a transfer fee. We also wouldn’t have had to deal with him still being in the league to haunt us as we all know he’s dangerous... All of the sudden our wings are quite bare and our attack is significantly downgraded. Hopefully there’s some sort of game plan we’re just not privy to and if that $1mil is what is necessary to steal Quintero out from under River at the last second I’d say it’s a good move. In the meantime it’s just money that we hope management spends...
If Philly sells Accam at any point this season Fire get 90% of club share of transfer fee. It then decreases in steps up to 2020 where fire would get 10%.
Wasn't this obvious? They burned through all the stockpiled funny money on the roster last year, so they had to hit up Garberbux ATM.
As long as he's involved in who we go after then fine but I don't trust Pawno and Nimrod to surround him with the player's he needs by themselves.
2015: #1 in goals 2016: #1 in goals, #2 in assists 2017: #2 in goals, #1 in assists Plus a bunch of earned penalties. That offsets a lot of ego, IMO.
It would logically seem like they wouldn't make this move without some sort of follow up deals in sight. Let's see what transpires over the next couple of weeks. If nothing pans out, then we can come down hard on Fire management.
Danny Santaromita @TheDanSanto 4m Rodriguez says he thinks Accam was surprised by the trade. This was the best offer they had this window. #cf97 Orrin Schwarz @Orrin_Schwarz 5m Nelson Rodriguez says Accam trade came together during combine. Accam did not ask for trade. #cf97
Did Accam play RW for you guys at all? Fafa Picault played exclusively at LW last season. If they can play together, they are the fastest tandem in MLS.
Plus world class speed.... which opens the rest of the field up. Not easy to find someone with his speed and (decent enough) ball control... gonna miss watching him tear by defenders.
People will hate on this, but in my opinion, he's in the 30 best fire players of all time. First round playoff exit here we come!!!
Agreed. That’s why I used the word “too”. At first glance, he would have helped any team we ever had. That’s a good start towards a top 30 player.
Until last year I was fairly convinced Accam was a more expensive version of Dominic Oduro. Both had the speed to get in dangerous situations and would create scoring opportunities with that speed but ultimately more often than not the lack of touch or technical ability or tactical decision making would let them (& us) down. This last year Accam turned on the heat with a better supporting cast and put my thoughts to bed. He was however screwed over by Pauno on the All-Star nonsense and the resigning drama and he basically seemed to turn into a locker room problem created chiefly by our technical staff. Anyway, he was going to be gone by June/July anyway and we all know the PROCESS doesn't like to make big signings in the summer window. Anywho, I have been very wrong before but Daniel Johnson looks like a young George Best to me and I'll take my chances with him for 3 or 4 games on left wing before I start panicking. Definitely not as fast as Accam but better ball skills.
