Alan Ruiz's father and agent has said the player wants to go back to his old club Colon and said we rejected offers of 10, 12 and 20M for the player and now he only wants to go back to Colon. If I were Sporting I wouldn't budge unless they bought him for a huge sum. I hate players who don't perform and then hold us at ransom. JJ in the post-match today said they are looking for a strike partner that combines well with Dost. Also he said Wendel and Misic are reinforcements for next season and only Ruben Ribeiro is ready to compete because he has been playing already. I'm hoping he meant that as a bluff - I can understand they need to get rhythm but we have a hectic schedule and need the full squad utilized.
I've been here for 14 years. Go look up my posts and decide for yourself. My opinion: JJ doesn't have what it takes to win the league with SCP. Would I like him to? Sure. But reality is reality. What a concept.
tbf to SCP_16, we're all very long suffering fans here and haven't given much to be positive about in 16 years. I think that Wendel being a signing for next season is a bluff. Can't spend that much on someone and not play him. I doubt Misic will play next season either, so not too concerned about that one.

We've also had recent discussions, specifically after the Benfica game last week, relating to JJ's inability to adjust and make tactical switches during the game against big opponents. It's not being negative. It's being realistic.
Porto defeated Moreirense 2-1 and will be our opponents in the semi-final. Winner goes onto the final to play either CD Aves or Caldas, so this basically is the final. Leg 1 is Wednesday, Feburary 28 @ Estádio do Dragão Leg 2 is Wednesday, April 18 @ Estádio José Alvalade I believe the dates are tentative at this point

Who in your opinion has what it takes? Just curious. I personally think JJ is a good coach and has what what it takes. Coaching at SCP vs SLB are two different things. The pope can come and coach Sporting and won't win. We all know how this league is runned. JJ wins @ Benfica, comes to Sporting and win's nothing. Rui Vitoria wins back to back at Benfica, you think if he were to come to Sporting next year he'd win here? I'm 99% sure it wouldn't happen.
All very valid points. I agree fully. My only issue is how JJ coaches and his tactics during big games against Porto and Benfica. He kinda shits the bed and gets out coached, whether it's making the wrong subs, starting the wrong players, or not making any subs at all until it's too late.
The "system" definitely helped, but Rui Vitoria also didn't have to be creative when he first went to Benfica. When he first got to Benfica he tried implementing his own system and failed miserably. It was only when he changed back to the JJ 4-4-2 and same players that he started winning - that mixed with the "padres" and "emails" is what got Vitoria back to back wins.
Looks like Gelson may be good to go today. There were reports earlier this week that he may be good, and he’s on the squad list, along with Wendel, Music and Lumor. Bas Dost and Podence still out.
