This reminds me a lot of our failure to qualify, we could all see the cracks early on, but none of us believed we actually wouldn't make it. Then, after our failure to qualify, I distinctly remember a @BostonRed post stating not to look under his recent twitter post because it was a lot of fans telling him to play for Mexico, I laughed it off. Then, it actually happened. I'm shocked.

Well, now that he is a Mexico player, I hope he does not live up to the hype.

For anyone who even has an inkling of anger over this. Don't be an idiot. Let the Rossi Rule apply.

If you have a chance at making a World Cup, you take it.

This failure is 100% on US Soccer, its reps, coaches and staff. It also falls on the reliance upon aged veterans who couldn't cut it in qualifying.

He's Mexican-American and has lived in Mexico since 14. This switch could have happened regardless. It's not just about possibly making the WC squad, it's also everything following after that and el tri might be where he's decided he feels he belongs.

What annoys me the most is the fact that Monterrey denied the US' request, not Jonathan, then seemingly allows him to go to Mexico. Obviously, you'd expect MX teams to bend the rules for Mexico, but they straight up denied his release for us, but not for Mexico.

Best of luck to Jona, and even though I'm salty I can't act like he is the end all, be all for US Soccer. Keaton Parks is playing as a DM for one of the top teams in the world. Chris Durkin has shown, albeit at a lower level, that he has a strong foundation to grow into a National Team stalwart. We're gonna be ok.

We have another '99 DM who is good and hispanic as well but knowing us, we'll lose him too.

One player doesn't make a team (unless he's Messi or Ronaldo). Anyway, take the USMNT angst over to USN&A. We still get to follow JoGo here and tell Mexico that they couldn't make the WC without out help and now cannot field a squad without Americans.

This is a good point, although we were trying to call him for a camp that runs right through the middle of their season... They were never going to allow that regardless of National Team conflict. I would be interested to hear if US Soccer then tried to call Jona to be a guest for our Bosnia match and to maybe meet the group.

Juan Pablo Torres. He is like Jonathan Gonzalez lite. Nobody rates him and if he ever does improve, we'll probably lose him to Colombia.

Like I said though, if he improves, enough to get Colombia's attention, we'll lose him too.

Jona made his debut for the Mexican national team last night, coming on in the 57th minute. In an underwhelming game for El Tri, he was a bright spot. He has a lot of skill on the ball that I wasn’t expecting.

JoGo is like an ex-girlfriend. You drop it and you move on, it serves no purpose going back to her FB page (thread). There, I said it, now we move on and we don't talk about it.

Is it board rules that YA is for USMNT eligible players only? Because even if he plays for Mexico he’s still an American and I’m still a fan.
