latest version is that he had normal lemon tea that had previously held coca tea and thus could not be detected at time of drinking.....
Doesn't any one in Peru, tell Guerrero to simply shut up ?. Each time he comes out with a new speach related to his case, instead of helping his case, he is making it worse. To me, with each one of his new declarations, all he is doing is making a "show" for the media to talk about it. If he really had a good evidence, to allow him get away with it, he should keep it secret and only expose it at the court (and no where else, and least of it, through a news media whom will publish it right away).
(busted) Yes, I believe you are right. This may probably be his first interview, where he talks directly about the issue. In any case, with appeals still to be presented, in order to get his sanction reduced, he better really not say anything, till there are no more judicial instances at his reach, as whatever he says, can be used against him. Before his recent interview with some brazilian media, in other short interviews, Guerrero took great care in not being him directly saying much refered to the case, but lots of the people close to him in diferent interviews (his mother, father, girlfriend, team mates and lawyers), said what Guerrero has told them in moments of privacy, together with their own opinions related to the case, where in many cases, unintentionally also create more uncertainty and doubts related to Guerrero's whole case.
A lot of lawyers in Peruvian media are saying he has a decent chance at getting it reduced because by giving him "only" 1 year, FIFA is acknowledging that he took it unintentionally. The ace in the hole for the appeal is the hotel worker that served him the tea. They're saying he's going to testify. This shit's like a movie.
If the hotel worker testifies that hey did what Guerrero in his interview is suggesting, that at the hotel where he works, someone didn't wash a cup that was used before, and served some of their guests (even if it is for the same guest), something else in it after, would mean a heavy loss in prestige, to that hotel (which is suposed to be a 5 star hotel with offices in lots of other countries as well), together with big sanctions (in money) from the peruvian health authorities, which could even have it suspended from activity. Unless at Peru no one really cares anything about this sort of health issues, and they do it all the time (which I really doubt it, and specially at that level). Besides, Guerrero in his latest interview, he said, that apart from the beverage he took in Lima, that he also took a cup of tea in Argentina, which really means that he and probably his defence too, still aren't sure, where he could have got it. Now if the worker, is still willing to accept the guilt, for Guerrero's case there really isn't anything new, as the 1 year sanction he got, was on the base, that it was product of an accidental consumption of the substance (if not so, he would've got between 2 years, to 4 years). FIFA hasn't ruled over intentions here.
Yeah, but according to some commentators, even some accidental consumption cases have gotten 6 months or been dismissed entirely. It just depends on how compelling the argument was. Chemo Del Solar got 2 years for the exact same thing several years ago. In the appeal, he submitted a hair follicle test that showed that he wasn't a cocaine user and that the consumption was accidental (I think he also claimed coca tea). He got his reduced to 6 months. So the thinking is that if he was able to go from 2 years to 6 months, Guerrero could surely go from 1 year to 6 months
Hi, guys. Sorry I've been away: such is the life of an adulting, married man. Anyhow, congrats are in order to the Peruvians. That was a well-deserved qualification. Party @ Borracho's. Also, Wanderito went down, so in general this has been sh!t year for my teams. Hope all is well with everyone. Regards and godspeed.
Been on and off the forum as of late. As you can probably tell I am buzzing about having qualified 2 months ago. I said we were a good team despite lots not believing what I had to say, but they still exceeded my expectations as I thought we were too far behind. I really only care about putting on a show and participating, but it would be nice to go far. We are a South American team after all and we can't go to do nothing.
